Is this a lot of food for an adult in one day

dogexplosion · 13/04/2023 19:33

Adult female:

Breakfast - bowl of cereal with milk, apple juice
Lunch - chicken toastie with side salad and a few crisps, water
Snack (lunch was early) - beans on toast, 2 biscuits
Dinner - homemade chicken curry and rice with peas, water

Is this too much?

Yes I would say it is, you listed two big lunches rather than one lunch and a snack.

2 big lunches? 😬

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 13/04/2023 20:42

Not too much.

ImSweetEnoughDarlin · 13/04/2023 20:42

I'd say that's too much. Beans on toast is a second lunch, not a snack.

HarlanPepper · 13/04/2023 20:43

People are saying 'two lunches' like that's a bad thing.

Irritateandunreasonable · 13/04/2023 20:44

DedicatedFollowerOfFashion84 · 13/04/2023 19:37

I would say yes… there’s effectively an extra meal in there under the guise of calling it a snack… beans on toast followed by two biscuits is far more than a snack…

Incredibly presumptuous of you. Snacks & meal sizing look different to everyone. OP may have larger snacks & smaller meals.

wishingitwasfriday · 13/04/2023 20:46

Yes. Beans on toast isn't a snack, it's a meal. You've essentially listed four meals there in a day, which is too much.

Howmanysleepsnow · 13/04/2023 20:48

I’d have the same, minus the breakfast, crisps and the beans on toast. I’m 2 stone heavier than I ought to be, so I’d say it’s too much for me.

I actually think MN should ban these threads. It’s just a place for people to project their own eating disorders.

Absolutely agree with this.

BadNomad · 13/04/2023 20:50

These threads should be banned. People should not be supported and encouraged online to have eating disorders.

lljkk · 13/04/2023 20:50

Lack of information on portion size.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 13/04/2023 20:51

It sounds like a lot of bread with a toastie and then the beans on toast later.

HarrietStyles · 13/04/2023 20:52

It entirely depends on the portion sizes. And the ingredients used in the curry (tomato based or full of cream). So many variants - that could all add up to 1000 or 3000 calories.

Use an online calculator to work out how many calories/carbs/protein/fat you should be aiming for each day. And then do a couple of days of weighing and measuring your potions and log your daily intakes onto an app. You will quickly see if you are under or over eating.

DowntownKingston · 13/04/2023 20:52

Judging by that, I suspect you had a massive salad rather than a side. Beans on toast was an extra meal. Plus you had 2 snacks with the crisps, & 2 biscuits.

BakewellGin1 · 13/04/2023 20:54

Today I have had..
2 litres of water
Coconut milk latte
Greek yoghurt with a few Raspberries
Sweet Potato slices with a blob of light mayo
2 Snack a Jack's
A chicken tikka wrap with salad and a blob of garlic mayo
A can of diet coke

I am full and content. Trying to lose some weight and today is the first day of the week I've not had half an Easter egg ha ha.

JupiterFortified · 13/04/2023 20:55

EveryWitchWaybutLoose · 13/04/2023 20:55

Not enough vegetables, too many processed carbohydrates and junk (breakfast cereal particularly). Not enough high quality protein.

mackthepony · 13/04/2023 20:56

Portion size??

Good heavens. Have you not heard of the obesity crisis? Beans on toast should see an adult right for at least 5 days, if not a week.

@EveryWitchWaybutLoose

what do you class as high quality protein??

ArcticBells · 13/04/2023 20:59

OP it sounds fine unless you want to lose weight. I'd easily eat that and more

eyerollwiththepunches · 13/04/2023 21:01

I'd say that was four meals per day. If you ditched the "snack", it would be fine.

SwearySweary · 13/04/2023 21:01

rainbowunicorn · 13/04/2023 19:39

No, it is fine but the loons will be along in a minute to tell you there isn't enough protein adults don't need snacks and that amount of food would last them 3 days 🙄

😂

“I had beans on toast I wouldn’t be able to move for a fortnight!”

Halfwits.

SnarkyBag · 13/04/2023 21:02

Beans on toast would be a meal that is suitable for breakfast, lunch or dinner to me but I would regard cereal as both a suitable breakfast or a snack. Therefore just have the beans on toast for breakfast and cereal as a snack and boom you no longer had an extra meal. Simples

ChrisPPancake · 13/04/2023 21:05

Did you eat it all or just lick it?

You must NEVER lick high calorie food, you will gain 10 stone and your teeth will fall out.

I boiled some chicken bone in a pan on Monday and drank the broth, I have been stuffed ever since
