Grooming of children aged 10-12 actually on Dutch TV

I don't know how old this clip is, but this is utterly insane.

How is this allowed? Didn't grooming used to be covert?

Also, what the fuck are the parents doing allowing their child on this show?

And here a 10 year old girl being made to think this is NORMAL.

I haven't watched the clip so don't know how extreme it is, but nudity is normal in nl. Kids are allowed in mixed sex naked spas from 13 or 14 and nudist beaches are completely normal. The prudish British attitude to nudity is really weird

thepox · 04/04/2023 17:49

I don't think I'm being prudish at all.

Children should not be exposed to naked adults. Surely?

Knew before I opened this that it would be a 'trans people are really groomers' crap.
They used to say exactly this about gay men. Exactly. Same playbook. Same fear and ignorance.
Whether TV nudity and kids mix is an entirely separate question

Any adult who wants to show their genitals to children is wrong.

I can't believe you are both defending this!

I don't think there is anything particularly awful about kids seeing naked adults per se. It depends on the context. Obviously, any kind of sexual context would be completely inappropriate. I haven't watched your clip as I don't know what's in it.

Are you OK with children seeing naked adults of the same sex? Because that is common in many cultures eg. Public baths etc. I am not really ok with mixed sex areas being naked, but I know some people would probably be OK with that too.

Those children are under 13years old.
It's not normal to expose children to naked mutilated bodies. It's not normal to teach children that mutilating a body is a healthy thing to do.

justteanbiscuits · 04/04/2023 17:55

Why should children not be able to see naked adults?? Oh to be able to have a bath or get dressed / undressed with no interruptions!

Naked STRANGERS?! Do I need to explain?

Maybe give it a watch

OK, so this is about trans bodies? Well, personally I wouldn't put my kid on TV to see how she reacted to a trans person's body. That feels a bit too like a freak show?

RoseslnTheHospital · 04/04/2023 18:00

Why am I not surprised that "prudish" has been dropped in already.

There is a big difference between children not being embarrassed about their bodies or the adults in their own home being naked, and putting children on TV to look at naked strangers.

Thanks, but you'd need to provide more info before I would click on a random link that claims to be about grooming young children. There are some things that I don't want to watch.

I must say, for something that you appear to find so shocking, posting it online for more people to watch strikes me as an odd decision.

Those children are not just catching a glance of a naked adult. Those children are being made to look for some time and absorb the detail of those adults genitals.
I can't understand why you think that is ok.

I can't understand that either

@thepox

I'm not sure about the Netherlands but in Germany it's normal to walk around naked in spas and the ones I've been to are 12 and up. It isn't sexualised at all it's just people without clothes on in the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi etc. children of any age were allowed in the swimming pool and many adults were swimming naked. It's a different culture.

I don't know about this tv programme i should add but I'm talking about normal everyday life

thepox · 04/04/2023 18:04

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves I was hoping that everyone would agree with me that it's really horrible and therefore not 'normal' in most people's opinions. I have been left disappointed.

If you don't want to click the link, you can google yourself 'simply naked Dutch tv YouTube'

All the videos are blurred! Which is ironic considering the children on the tv show weren't given the same respect.

These kids are under 12, for starters.

@thepox

The resort I was at let children of any age swim in the pool naked, at least half the adults were naked too (the British guests were not!)

Theresa79 · 04/04/2023 18:08

It's disgusting and unnecessary, like so many things these days

thepox · 04/04/2023 18:09

More people are annoyed with people calling Easter holidays 'half term' than children being asked to inspect naked adult strangers' bodies

OP posts:
DesertLioness · 04/04/2023 18:10

Brits are known for being squeamish with these issues and consequently much higher teen pregnancy rates and Jimmy Savile etc

Excited101 · 04/04/2023 18:10

From what you said op, I thought it was going to be horrifying, but while I think it’s a bit odd, I thought it was very educational and tastefully done. The kids are of an age where people of all types are everywhere, surely being open to learning all about them is no bad thing?

I did find it really ironic that they have fuzzed the photos though, who are they wanting to cover it from?!

PriamFarrl · 04/04/2023 18:11

You do know there is a program like this about to start on Channel 4 soon. I think it’s called Naked Education. I think that showing children that people come in all shapes and sizes and what normal is, is very important.
