For hating the word 'fart?'

No, I hate it too. No-one in DH's family uses it either. My family though 🤢

Farting is a bit gross and as such none of the terms referring to it are delightful. Last thread I read about the word fart someone suggested "bum puff" as an alternative which is truly ghastly.

My son and I say,
brump.
then we dissolve into laughter 😂
(don’t get me started on when we once drove through Brompton 😂)

If you hate the word "fart", what do you call them instead?

I never so much as allude to them .. let alone engage in that kind of activity ...

Agree there just are no decent words. Fart sounds childish, trump really is childish... and it was on mn that I encountered the awful ‘blowing off’ as a polite term. Sounds utterly filthy to me...

It was close to a swear word in my house growing up in the 80's and 90's. I think I'm pretty alone I'm not liking it now though. I ask my kids to say 'trump' instead - completely irrational as it means exactly the same thing and 'fart' isn't offensive

I like fart. It's honest but not graphic. I particularly hate the supposed 'polite' terms that are onomatopoeic like thrump or parp.

Passing wind Is a perfectly normal part of our digestive system, although I normally blame the dog. We call them farts, it’s just a word!

Lol, not heard the phrase 'blow off' in years, really made me laugh. I'm possibly childish and don't have an issue with fart or the more benign trump. I might jokingly say 'passed wind' or a highly juvenile 'parp' or dare I say 'botty burp' The only other thing to do is ignore and don't acknowledge such behaviour at all.

Fart was banned in our house growing up, my mother said it was common, clearly ignoring the fact that we were in fact ‘common’. Instead, we were told to use the word pump. And if we had pumped she insisted we needed a poo 😂

Blowing off makes me cringe.

"let alone engage in that kind of activity" That statement is just so not true. You might not lift a cheek but everybody does it otherwise.

I didn't want my dc's to use the word but its OK for adults.

What do you call them? Anything other than ‘fart’ is so twee IMO. Trump isn’t so bad, bud pump makes me toes curl.
