This is something me and ex MIL had in common. AIBU?

OP posts:

"let alone engage in that kind of activity" That statement is just so not true. You might not lift a cheek but everybody does it otherwise.

Probably never shites either 🙄

RobertaFirmino · 25/03/2023 20:13

I think trump is very fitting. Hot air and an aura of shite.
Alternatively, how about an anal announcement or a rectal rhapsody?

Mum2jenny · 25/03/2023 20:14

Wtf is wrong with the term to fart? It’s pretty normal with most ppl I know.

NashvilleQueen · 25/03/2023 20:14

Farting is freely used on the nhs website.

Vallmo47 · 25/03/2023 20:16

Don’t have an issue with the fart or farting, especially as my MIL says she “fluffed” - I find the stupid nicks way worse than calling it what it is.

StrawberryWater · 25/03/2023 20:16

I don’t mind the word fart.

My husband calls them bottom burps which I hate.

Alternatively I quite like to float the occasional air biscuit

FfeminyddCymraeg · 25/03/2023 20:16

We always used ‘fluff’ 😂

APurpleSquirrel · 25/03/2023 20:17

I don't like the word much either - it's now called a fluffy / to have fluffed - thanks to Bluey, which is marginally better.

Mum2jenny · 25/03/2023 20:17

Call a fart a fart in my terminology, simple!!

I thought OP was joking! I hope.

usernamechanged1 · 25/03/2023 20:20

I don’t like it either but (as evidenced in this thread) there are much worse. “Bottom burp” makes me wish I was a bit dead.

🤣

Are you Scottish?

limitedperiodonly · 25/03/2023 20:21

I am content with the word fart but i absolutely hate the word slew to mean a lot of.

Why not just say "a lot of"?

I've tacked this on to this thread because whenever there is a thread about: "What word do you hate the most?" I always forget the word "slew"

But I hate it. Much more than gusset and moist.

BatFaceOwl · 25/03/2023 20:21

I'll never forget the horror of my grandparents (posh) playing this many years ago

BatFaceOwl · 25/03/2023 20:22

... grandparents playing me this! It should say

SnowyPetals · 25/03/2023 20:22

It's a flabby-woof-woof, surely? 😂

LSSG · 25/03/2023 20:23

JunkIsland · 25/03/2023 19:48

Agree there just are no decent words. Fart sounds childish, trump really is childish... and it was on mn that I encountered the awful ‘blowing off’ as a polite term. Sounds utterly filthy to me...

Grin my parents' used this with us growing up GrinGrin never heard anyone else say or use it since

Toottooot · 25/03/2023 20:24

A fit? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I never so much as allude to them .. let alone engage in that kind of activity ...

I guess you’re trying to be funny and forgot the smiley faces?

I genuinely think anal announcement is gonna replace fart for me 🤣

Holly60 · 25/03/2023 20:25

I don't like the word fart particularly either. But like other posters, I find all other options worse. Trump, pump, blow off, etc- all awful

Passing wind is probably better than anything else and is what I would say if I was aiming for politeness

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 25/03/2023 20:27

I like it.

My gran used to hate it but I said it the other day and she laughed. She's relaxed in her old age hehe

BevMarsh · 25/03/2023 20:27

'Pump' makes me want to heave or punch the person who said it

It's a fart

LSSG · 25/03/2023 20:27

Oh I quite like back door breeze!
