You should all stay away from Denmark, particularly the town of Middelfart. Also avoid driving because nearly every village you come to has a sign that says din fart and then your speed flashes up on a screen.

The horror, the horror!

KimberleyClark · 26/03/2023 10:26

Bottom burp?

The German word for exit from a car park is ausfahrt.

ilovewispas · 26/03/2023 10:35

Windy pop 😂

BanditOne · 26/03/2023 10:50

Grunts!
That's what we called them at school.
"Who's grunted?!!" 😂😂

pookiebottom · 26/03/2023 12:03

I can't believe people find the word fart offensive. Some people really need to get a life 😂

Bottom burp?

Have you just stepped off the set of The Young Ones ? Grin

Bottom burp

LlamaFace19 · 26/03/2023 13:00

Fart is fine. All of the other supposedly more polite terms (trump, puff etc) make me cringe.

Trouser cough is awful but makes me giggle 😂

DixonD · 26/03/2023 13:12

Anewuser · 25/03/2023 19:56

Trouser cough

I love this, it’s so inoffensive 🤣

Rubyupbeat · 26/03/2023 13:16

I always thought it was a rude word and none of us used it, we said blow off.
I don't care now and its preferable to a lot of other descriptions,ie. Bottom burp

DixonD · 26/03/2023 13:17

My six year old has suggested “trouser rocket.”

It is offensive to those wearing skirts 😁

Itcouldhappenabishop · 26/03/2023 13:49

Farts or jam tarts in our house. Anything else is pearl clutching and cringe!

specialk9 · 26/03/2023 13:52

Our family said 'blow off' when we were younger, fart as we got older.

We just say 'passed wind' now

JacobsCrackersCheeseFogg · 26/03/2023 13:59

Fluff, or, pre-Donald, Trump.

We also say farted.

My cockney in-laws say, "'Ave you s**t?" Which is nice. Angry

immergeradeaus · 26/03/2023 14:00

It was good enough for Chaucer, so it's good enough for me.

ScentOfAMemory · 26/03/2023 14:04

toastofthetown · 25/03/2023 19:44

Farting is a bit gross and as such none of the terms referring to it are delightful. Last thread I read about the word fart someone suggested "bum puff" as an alternative which is truly ghastly.

Mumsnet is seemingly full of totes hilaires posters whose families spend all their time running round farting loudly while everyone in the vicinity wets themselves and cries with laughter and thumpd cushions to try and quell the hilarity before going out and buying a new laptop to "vote this thread for classics" seeing as the old laptop has had tea spilt on it.

In the real world, once you're past the age of about 9, it's a word that's relatively irrelevant I'd have thought. Everyone does it. You try not to offend others by doing it. Nobody needs to discuss it.

Dotjones · 26/03/2023 14:42

Check out Roger's Profanisaurus for lots of alternative terms:

Kicking the piper
Letting some air out of the balloon
Sigh of relief
Air guitar
Hurrican on my tail

It was good enough for Chaucer, so it's good enough for me.

And Queen Elizabeth I apparently.

MegsLevante · 26/03/2023 17:18

flatulate sounds like something Kath and Kim would say 🤣
