To see someone born in 1968 as young?

Speaking to someone yesterday who's just turned 55. He goes to the gym every morning, is 'hot' imo - as lean as a young man of 18 or so. No tattoos, no beard .. and a great sense of fun - really good company.

I personally still see him as youthful 😊

So do you see someone born in 1968 as young (relatively) ?

I'm thinking of buying a myself a Morris Minor to get into the spirit of all things '68! Grin

No, I would see them as middle aged.

YABU

Zerogive · 14/03/2023 13:28

I wouldn't see them as young. As they're just not!

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 14/03/2023 13:28

They are middle aged. I'm 35 and my parents are 55. I don't see them as old or young.

On the one hand I agree - but then he looks so fresh faced !!

No.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 14/03/2023 13:29

I’d consider them middle aged. They’re not young but not old either.

Beamur · 14/03/2023 13:29

They may be youthful and indeed hot. Young, they are not.
Mid 50's is your middle age and there's nothing wrong with that.

LightDrizzle · 14/03/2023 13:30

No.
Im early 50s. I know I’m middle aged, of course my friends seem young, at least those I’ve known ever since we were young, but I know they’re not.

SNWannabe · 14/03/2023 13:32

Sorry YABU. I’m married to a middle aged man born in the mid sixties. He’s hot too imo but he’s not young.

WarrickDavisAsPlates · 14/03/2023 13:35

As someone born in 1968 would be older than my parents, no I don't see them as young.

I don't really see them as old though. I remember my grandparents being in their 50s and thinking they looked old and like "proper grandparents" my parents are now grandparents and I certainly don't think they look like they should be old enough to have grandchildren.

Maybe that's because they're a similar age to some of the parents I see on the school run though.

Anonymous48 · 14/03/2023 13:37

That's older than me but younger than my husband. I wouldn't consider them young, but not old either.

That's the thing - my grandparents were well into their 60s when I was born so I remember them being 70 something for most of my childhood

YADNBU 😎
People always say "No!!!" when they realise I was born in '68
I think I do look young (less so when I put my glasses on, though)
😂

DisforDarkChocolate · 14/03/2023 13:38

I look in the mirror and see middle aged.

Klunt · 14/03/2023 13:39

That’s older than my dad so no 🤣

ÉireannachÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ · 14/03/2023 13:40

I see them as a young old person 🤗

MissingMoominMamma · 14/03/2023 13:41

Yeah- he’s younger than me 😁.

What you’re talking about though is vitality. Not everyone has it, in fact lots of younger people lack it because of lifestyle.

He sounds great actually!

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/03/2023 13:41

They're younger than me. I was well into secondary school when they were born.

CluelessInThe21st · 14/03/2023 13:41

Considering that's not super long before I was born yes, I'd love to call them young. At least young-ish?? 🐣

Young? For an oak tree, not a human.
