To call the florist and ask for a fresh bunch of flowers

Ok, more of a WWYD than a AIBU. A friend of mine sent me flowers this morning by ordering online. I've been given a bunch roses, hyacinths and carnations and a few other bits all of which look just on the cusp of being on their last legs. They probably wouldn't sell tomorrow and certainly not the day after . Would you call the florist to complain ? I feel they have ripped him off and disappointed me. That said I dont want to disappoint and let him know that his lovely gesture has fallen flat

Take photos, then call them, email the photos.

FiveHundredDucksWentOutOneDay · 08/03/2023 14:35

No, do it.

UdoU · 08/03/2023 14:37

Do it and tell them they should avoid hurting the feelings of the sender.

Don't let them get away on it because they're relying on recipients not saying anything to avoid upsetting the sender.

Jenna0 · 08/03/2023 14:40

Can you add a photo for us to see :)

IsAGirlMumma · 08/03/2023 14:42

Have you put them in water yet? I got a letter box delivery of flowers when I went on Mat leave. Honestly. They looked awful. I was going to complain. Took photos etc. still put them in water & a few hours later you wouldn't of believed how shit they'd looked when they arrived.

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 08/03/2023 14:44

Have the flower heads opened OP? We really need to see a photo !

billy1966 · 08/03/2023 14:46

Absolutely do it.

Photograph them too.

A couple of years ago my husband was away and had some flowers delivered to me by a well regarded florist and what arrived, whilst not dead were fully opened.

I was annoyed as I knew well he had spent a ridiculous amount on them.

I rang them and told them I was appalled that someone had okayed them to be sent out, emailed them a picture and left a stinking review.

The owner rang and apologised profusely, agreeing with me, and another bouquet was duly dispatched.

Definitely complain.

Well I just phoned and they offered a replacement before I'd barely finished my sentence so I wonder if they knew they weren't the best. That said I haven't pit them in water and am worried now that that would have done the trick. Hang on I'll
ll send a pic

Bloom and Wild flowers arrive looking past it, but are described as “asleep”. Once arranged in water they are superb, look beautiful and last for ages

Whiskeypowers · 08/03/2023 14:52

They will have to make sure the replacement are top notch !

The flowers look OK and bright, but what I wouldnt be happy with if I'd have bought them is how much its just full of green rather than flowers.

It looks ok to me

Jenna0 · 08/03/2023 14:56

The actual flowers are fine, the insane amount of green stuff is not.

catfunk · 08/03/2023 14:57

I was brought a beautiful big bunch of flowers by friends recently from an expensive local place. They died after a few days I was so gutted (for my friends who'd spent a fortune!)

marshmallowsforbreakfast · 08/03/2023 14:57

Flowers look fine to me

Mortimercat · 08/03/2023 14:58

I honestly do not know what you are complaining about.

Chemenger · 08/03/2023 14:58

The flowers look fine. Which ones do you think look past it? You need to arrange them in a vase so the greenery frames the blooms.

Bluepuffa · 08/03/2023 14:59

The flowers look fine, I don’t think this was an expensive bunch, but they are pretty

Brefugee · 08/03/2023 14:59

the ratio of flowers to green is really not acceptable.
I use Bloom & Wild now because they send buds too that open later, so you get the flowers for a good long time.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/03/2023 15:00

Those flowers are lovely. I'd be very happy with them.
I honestly don't know what you're complaining about.

Jenna0 · 08/03/2023 15:01

Yeah the green to flower ratio is definitely wrong x

ThreeblackCats · 08/03/2023 15:03

Gorgeous looking bouquet.

I’m very unclear what the issue is. Is it a stealth boast about your unexpected flowers?

EllieM27 · 08/03/2023 15:04

I think they need water and will perk back up. I agree about the excessive greenery though, you’ve practically got a bush there.
