To think a brazillian wax is not what I got here?

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 03/03/2023 16:52

First brazillian in 10 years (post kids) finally got round to booking myself in and finding time to go fab! Researched the salon (my previous waxing specialist moved counties) all seemed well.

My understanding of a brazillian wax is all hair front, back (between bum cheeks) and inbetween removed bar a small 'landing strip' of hair on the pubic mound.

What I got was very..... Odd

No hair left on the public mound, hair on outer labia (the bit on the outside next to the thigh crease) removed, no hair removed from the back and a 'tuft' of hair left in the cleft of my pubic mound.

This is wrong isn't it, or has the meaning of brazillian changed in 10 years?

I just paid and left (yeah I know) but it's a weird confrontation to have with a stranger about where you have hair 😂

ABUSE?! Hmm
Pull the other one!
No one is being frogmarched down to the beauty salon.

Woah! One go….no. Small patches. The hair grows in different directions. You have to work it all out, stretch the skin. Apply under stretch and then apply the next patch. Then remove the first patch and so on. Definitely never in one go. Yikes. She was brave.

She did a wonderful job, so quick, never any damage, never any hair left smooth and calm and it barely hurt it was that quick.
She used to pull the skin in different directions as she removed it. Never met anyone like her before and clearly not since.

I think Hollywood is all off and Brazilian is everything apart from the landing strip. I’ve never had this done but just out of curiosity how painful is it? Don’t think I’d ever be brave enough!

Tigertigertigertiger · 03/03/2023 20:33

Was it sore?

No, barely any pain at all

Impossible to say. In the same way tattoos or injections hurt people differently.

All I know is that waxing my shins hurts me way more.

Waxing over bone is more painful. Shins and ankles far worse than bikini. Underarm is hardly anything noticeable.

It’s definitely worth it, but please find someone who is skilled. So many quick courses popping up where people do a 2 day course and think they know the same as someone like me who spent years training.

Unfortunately it’s an unregulated industry so no checks to make sure your therapist is qualified or insured. We desperately need regulations in the industry to weed out the unskilled unqualified people. They think on average 3 out of 10 therapists are unqualified but I think it’s a lot higher.

Omg really? I had no idea! So you don't have to have a college qualification? 😮

Well this is an eye opener…. Waxing bum hair? Your actual arsehole? I didn’t even realise hair grew there…! Am I the only one that’s surprised by this?

Hedjwitch · 03/03/2023 20:58

Hats off to those of you who go through this. The thought of having someone part my bum cheeks to rip the hair out is just too much for me.
I'll stay furry rather than suffer the indignity

You're either lucky, or in for a surprise when you check later. 😅

Well only if you want to be insured.

what I’m saying is many people are not qualified. It’s really bad at the moment. So many people thinking they are qualified and did a day course somewhere. It’s really shocking. I spent 4 years full time on my training. No way someone can learn that in a day.

Please check your therapist is actually qualified.

That’s all included in a “intimate wax”.

Beesandhoney123 · 03/03/2023 21:12

Perhaps purchase the bikini genie ( google it) which does a nice job and will tidy you up.

Don't go back. At least no one can see it, imagine the mess if they'd done your eyebrows.

Always check qualifications and reviews. always ask what experience they have and how many years etc.

ELCismyspiritnana · 03/03/2023 21:34

I think it's the type of wax isn't it? The silver hot wax stuff that doesn't stick to the skin can do all in one go as it doesn't cause skin damage but the old type is too harsh and has to be done in bits.

I'm sniggering at the image of the ops fanny basically having a teen boys soul patch with associated straggly beady bits. Please buy your foof a knitted hat and some bongos pronto op.

I know right. Fuck the unlicensed botox injecters, this is what's important

Find a better waxer from recommendations (my hairdresser recommended mine a d she's incredible!) And use this as a bonding experience while she fixes you haha

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 03/03/2023 22:36

Best/worst one ever was when I'd booked in for a Brazilian with 'our highly trained specialist waxer.' She told me not to bother taking my shoes off (bleeurgh) when I got on the table, said 'oh you've taken your knickers off, better cover you up' and slapped a threadbare flannel on me, had Heart radio on in the background, sighed audibly throughout, and then waited for me to pay before I could even lift my head to see what she'd done (and I knew it wasn't good).

She'd literally just snapped all the hairs off with the wax (and it was hot wax too!), and not a single one was removed by the roots. Insult to injury, it was the most basic of bikini waxes, and she still charged me £35.

I spent the rest of the day looking at my overgrown pubes and muttering 'thirtyfuckingfive fucking quid and I could have done better with a plastic bic razor in the shower'

RainLover · 03/03/2023 22:47

Oh OP! Stuffed taco got me but…I can’t relate. I am SO actively involved with my waxing, she checks in with me about everything and I’m watching at every contortion, every bit of wax and yes - every tweeze 🤣
no possibility I could be unaware as to what she has/hasn’t done. She’s an absolute perfectionist though, and as I realise from this thread - a rare gem.
Also, I love a good wax. Bearably painful, weirdly satisfying, and I love the results. It’s for me, not my DH, and anyone suggesting it’s ‘abuse’ needs to give their head a wobble. Hope you find a better waxer!

Oooh no, I can't stand the torture of small patches. The larger the better for me (as a customer)

I thought a Brazilian was basically a narrow stripe all the way from mound to vagina/ends of outer labia. I thought there was some very limited hair on the labia. Your bum/betwix area would be hairless
I like the strip rather than bald as it means everything sits more comfortably for me. I also prefer a small V patch on my pubis mons as I think it suits my part better.
Surely you could feel/see whatvyoure getting. Why didn't brought speak up?
Take a diagram next time.
