To think a brazillian wax is not what I got here?

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 03/03/2023 16:52

First brazillian in 10 years (post kids) finally got round to booking myself in and finding time to go fab! Researched the salon (my previous waxing specialist moved counties) all seemed well.

My understanding of a brazillian wax is all hair front, back (between bum cheeks) and inbetween removed bar a small 'landing strip' of hair on the pubic mound.

What I got was very..... Odd

No hair left on the public mound, hair on outer labia (the bit on the outside next to the thigh crease) removed, no hair removed from the back and a 'tuft' of hair left in the cleft of my pubic mound.

This is wrong isn't it, or has the meaning of brazillian changed in 10 years?

I just paid and left (yeah I know) but it's a weird confrontation to have with a stranger about where you have hair 😂

I wonder how many other women they've treated this way. They probably count on people being to embarrassed to complain.
OP send a photo to Trading Standards and report them... !

Allthingsbrightandbeautifulx · 03/03/2023 17:43

I get a Brazilian (all off but landing strip), once had a new girl doing it and she was chatting away non stop and gave me a Hollywood - all off completely. She only realised her mistake when she went to reception desk for me to pay 🙈😂
Most awkward thing about a wax is when they’re so thorough that they get the tweezers out for any ingrown hairs 😳

flipent · 03/03/2023 16:57

Brazilian should be all off.
Sounds like you wanted a Hollywood (landing strip).
But you got neither...

It's the other way round

SweetcornFritter · 03/03/2023 17:47

I’ve never been waxed but am curious- do they show you their handiwork in the mirror front and back, like at the hairdressers?

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 03/03/2023 17:48

NellietheElephantpackedhertrunks · 03/03/2023 17:38

Did you go out into the reception area so that the other staff (and customers) could examine her handiwork and judge whether good enough?

Absolutely, who wouldn't do this? I got right down on the floor legs akimbo and asked everyone to feel and see if it was smooth enough.

I'm not sure where the hair was left (cleft of pubic mound isn't translating into a picture in my head!) but yes what you got was wrong, I think. I get Brazilian and it's as you described.
It's so difficult to complain as it's naturally a rather embarrassing thing considering how vulnerable you are.. perhaps email or call and ask for the money back and just have it all off somewhere else (check reviews before) if possible?

Good waxers do, yeah. This one didn’t

‘Alarm bells should have rung when I was not greeted at the reception desk rather left waiting whilst they all gossiped loudly in the back for 5 minutes past my appointment time.’

Ugh. Always, always a bad sign. The time I ignored this was the time I was handed a cotton pad to remove my own lash tint and received an eyebrow threading treatment with just removed the hair between my brows.

Too many crap salons offering treatments they have no clue how to deliver.

honeylulu · 03/03/2023 17:59

I'm not sure where the hair was left
I've understood it to be the very top of the divide of the outer labia. So OP was left with no "front" hair except a tufty bit above the clit. I imagine someone getting most of their hair off would definitely prefer to have that bit gone! And the arse hairs - so fiddly to try and do yourself unless you're a contortionist!

Lookingoutside · 03/03/2023 18:00

Could the people referring to ‘handiwork’ please get out more. Fuck sake.

Ducksinthebath · 03/03/2023 18:03

Ah, the old Hitler moustache. I’ve had that before when the waxer totally forgot what I’d come in for got a bit overzealous with the front section.

honeylulu · 03/03/2023 18:04

Hitler moustache
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The best places do the immac test and drop a silk stocking on your fooff to see if it slides off.

GabriellaMontez · 03/03/2023 18:10

Omg it sounds excruciating. Especially as you've not got what you asked for !

watcherintherye · 03/03/2023 18:15

This thread is making me wince! I can almost feel the pain. Waxing sounds bad enough, but tweezers….Shock

BruceAndNosh · 03/03/2023 18:22

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 03/03/2023 17:23

I don't know if I want to, God knows what they'd do a second time round

As long as they don't glue hair back on...

Benjispruce4 · 03/03/2023 18:23

No idea as I diy .Surely easier to say what you want instead of asking for a ‘name’?

That sounds absolutely rubbish and not at all correct. If you have the energy complain but otherwise I'd just avoid them and never to back and find a new place.

BadNomad · 03/03/2023 18:36

According to google, a Brazilian wax can mean anything from "all off" to "any shape of hair" at the front. You could have got a heart!

Next time you will need to be specific about what you want.

picklemewalnuts · 03/03/2023 18:41

Perhaps you could regain your sexy confidence by sticking a heart shaped sequin on? a DIY Vajazzle?

Sorry I haven't got a clue. It's not how I ever found my sexual confidence Grin

I'm impressed at anyone going for bikini waxing, to be honest. It would put me right off!

Writeandroll · 03/03/2023 18:47

Sorry OP, but I’m sort of glad this happened to you because it gave me this thread.
Some of the responses have made my day!

(But seriously, if I was in your position, I’d just DIY and go elsewhere next time).

notsurewherenotsurewhy · 03/03/2023 18:49

I agree with you OP. I've had Brazilian and Hollywood waxes (and sometimes just a bikini line wax) from maybe 30ish different beauticians over the past 15 years? Some have gone straight in and done exactly what you'd expected with no need for discussion, others have checked quite specifically about each individual section, but none have ever just got it wrong the way yours did! But I think I would also have politely paid and left in your shoes. Blush

You got this back-to-front. A Hollywood is all off
