To think a brazillian wax is not what I got here?

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 03/03/2023 16:52

First brazillian in 10 years (post kids) finally got round to booking myself in and finding time to go fab! Researched the salon (my previous waxing specialist moved counties) all seemed well.

My understanding of a brazillian wax is all hair front, back (between bum cheeks) and inbetween removed bar a small 'landing strip' of hair on the pubic mound.

What I got was very..... Odd

No hair left on the public mound, hair on outer labia (the bit on the outside next to the thigh crease) removed, no hair removed from the back and a 'tuft' of hair left in the cleft of my pubic mound.

This is wrong isn't it, or has the meaning of brazillian changed in 10 years?

I just paid and left (yeah I know) but it's a weird confrontation to have with a stranger about where you have hair 😂

nothing to add but you have my sympathy @Lordofthebutterfloofs
just realised you have floofs in your name and I'm 🤣🤣🤣🤣 again

Bigger picture is you paid money for someone to rip out your pubes though? I can never get past that but, I know it's commonplace but it's still kind of weird

Each to their own love , no?

Could the people referring to ‘handiwork’ please get out more. Fuck sake.

Ditto those who can’t actually spot a joke when they see one (maybe Mumsnet is not for you…)

Nineteen60s · 03/03/2023 19:19

Totally agree with @Squamata…..but yeah, each to their own I suppose.
However, if you are not pleased with the result, why not query at the time. Google if necessary?

Emmelina · 03/03/2023 19:26

There are apparently two types of Brazilian now, according to this poster by one of the wax manufacturers.
sounds like you had a rushed version of the first type!

Did she get mixed up and do a Brazilian triangle?

Timeflieshey · 03/03/2023 19:40

God, I admire you, I’d just feel so embarrassed going to have any of them done..especially the bum bit 😳

Redebs · 03/03/2023 19:49

@notsurewherenotsurewhy But I think I would also have politely paid and left in your shoes.

But that would be shoe stealing, which is very wrong.

delayrepayagain · 03/03/2023 20:00

I thought it was the Bermuda Triangle?

davegrohll · 03/03/2023 20:01

I remember going for my first (and only) Hollywood wax and being shocked when she asked me to turn over and part my bum cheeks so she could get the arse hair 🤣🤣

Tigertigertigertiger · 03/03/2023 20:01

Wtf why do women do this to themselves?😳

Because we like it. Why not? It's better than itchy shaving rash, spikey trimming, razor burn and accidental cuts. When it's done right that is.

Shocking the things coming out on this thread. Dodgy waxing, flashing in waiting areas and now shoe stealing

Some places have a very weird interpretation of what a Brazilian is so it's really important to clarify in new places - I've come across a few that will strip everything off at the front apart from a little tuft at the top of the slit, but won't go anywhere near the underneath or round the back.

Not what I would consider a Brazilian and definitely not what I'm after (seems very weird!)

I don’t know if I should comment. But I’m going to. Firstly I’m a therapist who has been waxing for several centuries not really but I’m old.

These names for waxing styles were invented by Cosmopolitan mag years ago, no one knows what they mean.

If you go for “intimate waxing” please tell your wax therapist what you want. Usually they will assume all off if you go for intimate.

Firstly check they are qualified they need extra for intimate. Also they have additional insurance.

It should be a peelable wax on those delicate areas. But all off means all. Up down sides and middle. Bum hole and between.

Otherwise you are asking for a high bikini wax and specify what you want to go and what you want to keep.

The therapist won’t mind what you want, they just want you to be happy.

Emmamoo89 · 03/03/2023 20:14

Love the comments 🤣🤣 definitely go somewhere else!

BlindGirlMcSqueaky · 03/03/2023 20:14

I've only been for one and it was so bad, I've never been again.

It was red raw and covered in random hairs like a balding man's pate.

My previous regular therapist used to use that lovely peelable wax 😍 it honestly made the whole experience so simple. Whole area covered top to bottom allowed to set and then removed almost in one go. Just a quick roll to the side to get the last bit at the back. In and out in 20 minutes.

You LIKE having this done? Huh?!
Funnily enough, I have never experienced itchy shaving rash, spiked trimming, razor burn or accidental cuts. (A teeny tiny bit of rash when I have trimmed around the bikini line, but that was years ago and easily solved with Savlon or whatever, so not a problem AT ALL).
I just cannot imagine paying someone to do this to me. In years to come I reckon this sort of thing will be banned as some sort of abuse.
Bonkers…..

Woah! One go….no. Small patches. The hair grows in different directions. You have to work it all out, stretch the skin. Apply under stretch and then apply the next patch. Then remove the first patch and so on. Definitely never in one go. Yikes. She was brave.

Thepossibility · 03/03/2023 20:29

Previous beauty therapist here.
I would ring them and ask what their definition of a Brazilian is.
And then tell them that's not what they did for you.
Say you didn't notice at the time because your waxer made you feel rushed.
Let them either sort it or you know to never go back to that dodgy place.

Totally agree. Shave my bits from time to time , never had itchy shaving rash l the idea of paying someone to rip out my pubic hair causing pain is repulsive .

now that I’m older I just don’t care about being hair free, and I mean don’t care in a good sense
