That's it. That's the post.

After two decades of absolute shite vacs - always purchased by the other resident adult -, now I have an amazing one (and a much, much cleaner house).

This has spurred me on to de-clutter some more and I am really happier about this than I ought to be.

It really does seem to be about the little things these days

So, which is it?

TheCaddieisaBaddie · 03/02/2023 18:01

You have practically the whole of MN on pins right now, which one?????

SpinningFloppa · 03/02/2023 18:02

Yabu for not saying which one it is in the op

fishonabicycle · 03/02/2023 18:03

What is it?

FallopianTubeTrain · 03/02/2023 18:06

Oh yes. The unbridled joy of a new vacuum cleaner!

The motor on the head burnt out on our dyson a couple of years ago and I bought a new shark to replace it. Utter crap, worst thing ive ever wasted money on! Two years later and the part we needed finally got delivered and the old Dyson is back. I did one small patch of carpet and almost fell to my knees like the pope at shrine!

There's nothing like the thrill of a properly clean carpet

SkankingWombat · 03/02/2023 18:06

I know what you mean OP. I now have 3 (robot, cordless, and corded). All have their strengths and weaknesses, but the choice means hoovering is so much easier as I pick the one that best suits the job eg corded for car (best suction and best nozzle for getting into small spaces), cordless for the stairs etc. Everything is hoovered far more frequently now it is easier.

TheVanguardSix · 03/02/2023 18:08

Come back here and mic drop properly, OP. Is it… a Miele? It’s not a Shark, that much know.

thistimelastweek · 03/02/2023 18:08

I vacuum therefore I am!!!

RestingMurderousFace · 03/02/2023 18:11

Really? I love my shark! Although it's a lift away, I've heard lots of bad reviews about the anti-hair wrap.

GroggyLegs · 03/02/2023 18:12

Ah why so harsh on shark?!
I like my shark.

mommybear1 · 03/02/2023 18:13

Come on now OP you can't leave us without the details!

AmigoDogs · 03/02/2023 18:14

DH bought himself a new Vax cordless stick thing and uses it for its 45 minute charge every day. It's a thing of beauty.

BringOnFebBankHoliday · 03/02/2023 18:14

Pretty please tell us what it is?

pointythings · 03/02/2023 18:14

I know how you feel, I love my cordless Shark. It's so light and easy to move around, and it picks up 100x more cat hair than my Dyson ever did. I vacuum a lot more often now that I don't have to drag that heavy monster around and faff about with cords. Everybody wins.

PerfectYear321 · 03/02/2023 18:14

YABU for not saying which hoover you've got 😦

custardbear · 03/02/2023 18:34

Need to know!
We've had 20 years of expensive crappy hoovers (Shark and Dyson which didn't last well - Shark was only a year before it because really crap!)
We've just bought Henry's cousin Charles!

Echobelly · 03/02/2023 18:38

We were super smug abput our Shark because it was so much lighter and easier to get out and good for the stairs. Then after about 2 years a (totally replaceable seeming) interior part of the hose got a tear and local repair shop said it was impossible to fix because Shark didn't do spares. DH worked miracles and took the whole thing apart with great difficulty (it wasn't designed to be taken apart even though that would be have perfectly easy to design) and did buy a spare hose that fitted and got it to work again. It was super annoying because it fits our needs so well, but we're now also pissed off with Shark in general for designing vaccuums to be as hard to fix as possible so probably wouldn't buy another.

SlipSlidinAway · 03/02/2023 18:39

Posting because I have to know WHICH ONE!!!

We have got this too!! Ooh the suction is just amazing!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 03/02/2023 18:46

It'll be a Hoover Constellation.
I've always wanted one of those, for years and years and years.

Oblomov22 · 03/02/2023 18:49

And?

Do tell. I haven't come across a good one yet.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2023 18:51

Come on @SunscreenCentral

What is it

Mamette · 03/02/2023 18:55

I also need to know.

SunscreenCentral · 03/02/2023 18:56

Many apologies, I didn't say what I bought.

Please note that I did a PhD's worth of research (on here/Which?/YouTube/random searches) because I just can't cope with yet another crap hoover. I can't.

AND....

I bought the Miele C3 cat&dog corded & bag model. (also bought a shit-load of bags, I'm set for YEARS)

Why:

It has a HEP air filter taking dust out of the air
No more ~fucking mess~ emptying tiny chambers into the bin making even more mess/no washing filters grrrrrr
Extra long cord that winds itself in without taking your ankles off
East to maneuver
Has little bumper to stop furniture/paintwork getting banged up
All the nozzle bits that go on the end (upholstery/etc) are stowed on-board
Light
Tidy size
Stable
Makes satisfying clicks and snek type sounds when being assembled/parts changed out

Most NB - It could suck the actual sun out of the sky (but you can also turn it down if needed. Imagine. You can make it less powerful. This was a revelation).

I am very, very happy with it.

(I do have a robot but obviously we are pigs and Bernard just wasn't able. He might be happier now but mostly he got trapped under the sofa) and pushed dirt around

so yes it's a Miele.
