That's it. That's the post.

After two decades of absolute shite vacs - always purchased by the other resident adult -, now I have an amazing one (and a much, much cleaner house).

This has spurred me on to de-clutter some more and I am really happier about this than I ought to be.

It really does seem to be about the little things these days

This is so odd. 5 minutes earlier I said to DH that I can’t wait for our new hoover to arrive and it is the exact same model! Arriving Tuesday. The anticipation is almost too much after reading this post! The cordless dyson will be thrown from the window.

SerenaB12 · 03/02/2023 19:01

YANBU it's a great hoover! Shark was heavy and cumbersome but this does the job!

Many apologies, I didn't say what I bought.

Please note that I did a PhD's worth of research (on here/Which?/YouTube/random searches) because I just can't cope with yet another crap hoover. I can't.

AND....

I bought the Miele C3 cat&dog corded & bag model. (also bought a shit-load of bags, I'm set for YEARS)

Why:

It has a HEP air filter taking dust out of the air
No more ~fucking mess~ emptying tiny chambers into the bin making even more mess/no washing filters grrrrrr
Extra long cord that winds itself in without taking your ankles off
East to maneuver
Has little bumper to stop furniture/paintwork getting banged up
All the nozzle bits that go on the end (upholstery/etc) are stowed on-board
Light
Tidy size
Stable
Makes satisfying clicks and snek type sounds when being assembled/parts changed out

Most NB - It could suck the actual sun out of the sky (but you can also turn it down if needed. Imagine. You can make it less powerful. This was a revelation).

I am very, very happy with it.

(I do have a robot but obviously we are pigs and Bernard just wasn't able. He might be happier now but mostly he got trapped under the sofa) and pushed dirt around

so yes it's a Miele.

Omg it sounds perfect I need one! Off to Google.

evtheria · 03/02/2023 19:03

I bloody knew it. A Miele.

TheFormidableMrsC · 03/02/2023 19:10

I feel like this about my new Henry. I treated myself with Xmas money. It's the best hoover I've ever had. My carpets look new (and they're old). I can't believe they difference it has made to cleaning. I have wasted so much money on hoovers and I wish I'd bought a Henry years ago.

buckeejit · 03/02/2023 19:23

Ah man. That sounds good but does it have a retractable lead? I'm so lazy that I hate winding the lead back up on the vacuum

PaperDoves · 03/02/2023 19:27

I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE THE MIELE C3.

takes a breath I've been meaning to pull the plug on buying this exact hoover for ages now and this thread has finally clinched it. Thanks OP!

SunscreenCentral · 03/02/2023 19:27

Resident adult returned whilst I was building a home for my lovely new vacuum cleaner tidying out the press in the hall and spotted the broken corpse of his latest utter and complete waste of money lying on the ground near the front door.

What's that doing there, he asked suspiciously. He's not entirely pleased at being stripped of his Chief Vacuum Cleaner Broker status.

With an actually completely straight face I said Oh I moved it so that I could hoover it and the floor around it.
Unbelievable.

Still, that seemed to satisfy him and he wandered off.

It's now in the shed. (Not him) Along with all its friends, the other dead hoovers.

Yes, yes it does.

It has a very good and smooth retraction thingy (but not so fast that it will clatter and bruise your ankles because I've had one of those too.

20 (twenty) years of shite vacuum cleaners under the belt here @buckeejit

I would have bet money on a Miele. Mine is bloody marvellous compared to my Johnny Come Lately Dyson cordless.

lmnabc · 03/02/2023 19:35

Love Miele but I thought everyone had moved on to sharks!

ChilliBandit · 03/02/2023 19:36

Argh, I have been toying with the idea of buying this but I just don’t want a hoover with bags and the bagless Mieles are £££.

Does anyone know what the bagless Mieles are like?

I have that one, and share your delight! Practically sucks the carpets right up, I've never had to put it on the highest setting.

Would never have any other kind of vacuum cleaner.

Baxdream · 03/02/2023 19:41

I have this too although not the one with bags. I also have to turn it down otherwise it doesn't move 😂 it's a beauty! Much better than my shark which is full of post Reno dust

NotMeNoNo · 03/02/2023 19:43

Good luck. It was new vacuum month for us too, a green Henry Pet which I somehow have to call "Henry, pet" as if I was Vera. Sorry we had that Miele previously but after 5 years of long haired dog, cat and kids its motor blew up.

fizzyfood · 03/02/2023 19:43

Brilliant choice. Best hoover I've had

YANBU - I have that one and it is AMAZING and still going strong after nearly 13 years hard graft!

Clarabellawilliamson · 03/02/2023 19:46

Ooh yes- we have that one. You do have to be careful because it can pull up carpets any vinyl flooring it's so powerful!!!!

Ohifyouinsist · 03/02/2023 19:47

I was going for Miele or Sebo. Let's face it, it was never going to be a pile of shite Shark! If my Sebo ever dies (unlikely), I would definitely consider a Miele.

Whatsshecalled · 03/02/2023 19:48

Yes miele!! I bought their bottom of the range, entry level model a couple years ago as I was too poor to replace the dead Dyson. It has utterly unbelievable sucking power, I can only use it on mid power or it clamps itself to the carpet (this is a good thing) remarkable! Two years in and it's as good as the day it arrived.

SleepingisanArt · 03/02/2023 19:48

I too love my Miele (I actually have 2 so one upstairs and one downstairs 😂- had one at home bought another to use in a business we had and kept it when sold the business). Mine has a quiet setting (used for pretty much everything) and a 'rug' setting which is great for the front doormat or I'd need a team of rugby players to hold the mat down when I hoover it!

I don't like the Henry hoover range. Didn't feel they were any good and the final insult was a motor catching fire whilst I was trying to clean up a few crumbs!

Ireolu · 03/02/2023 19:51

We bought a shark one 2-3 weeks ago. Not a massive fan. This is after 2 dysons. I prefer cordless. I give up.

Mypoorbody · 03/02/2023 19:53

I was stupidly happy when I worked out how I could empty a Dyson cordless (I have cerebral palsy and that thing is much easier with two working hands than my right hand gingerly balancing it on the bin.) It is so much easier to use for me otherwise.

My floor has never been so clean 😀

Mysmallgarden · 03/02/2023 19:55

I've just looked them up, they're pretty darned expensive!! I'd love one but they're priced way out of my league.

WinterFoxes · 03/02/2023 19:55

Thank you for sharing. I had yet another massive falling out with Henry and his passive-aggressive salesman grin this morning. DH said time for a new vacuum cleaner after mending his nozzle twice today. I like the sound of your Miele. Never saw the point of bagless vacuum cleaners. Defeats the point. You may as well sweep up.
