Beauty students asked to strip in front of trans rapist at college AFTER sex attacks

My AIBU title taken from this news article:

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/beauty-students-asked-strip-front-29063499

This whole 'Isla Bryson' cluster-fuck has me angrier than I can describe.

These girls had to accept and trust this vile individual in their beauty course on the basis of Isla's claim to be a woman, nothing more. They even tolerated abuse from Isla.

They were not told this individual was facing charges of rape. The college claim they didn't know either. Because 'Isla' said he was a women, these young women felt they had no choice but to strip to virtually naked in front of him. Failing to do so would be 'bigoted'.

But he also happens to be a serial rapist. Young women, some possibly aged 16 or so, stripping to virtually naked while a serial rapist watches. If this was my daughter I would be going mad.

Where is the safeguarding?

AIBU to feel viscerally angry with all our politicians about this?

Can you imagine it? It would just be a load of 2nd rate men telling themselves that they weren't only stunning and brave but world-class athletes.

Also - where would their sponsorship come from? How many spectators want to pay top dollar to watch mediocre men's sport? This is another reason they want to be part of women's sport - the prizes may not be as high as in the men's competitions, but they're better than coming 273rd in a swimming race.

I agree. My friend’s DD is a competitive swimmer. It’s difficult with the different pool length in USA but she reckons Thomas was swimming roughly what most of the higher level 16yr old boys here do.

Tygger · 01/02/2023 11:57

My reason for redesignating disabled toilets is that its my experience that they are seldom used, obviously this may be different for different locations, so where this is a problem then society needs to provide more of them.
Unisex is my preferred term, because that is what they are, gender neutral, they are used by all genders.

It has been repeatedly demonstrated that the high school boys' team can usually wipe the floor with the women's professional team in most sports.

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 01/02/2023 11:59

@Tygger again that’s your experience. Hen I told you mine you didn’t believe it. When @Boiledbeetle told you theirs you ignored it. Open your eyes, think about other people in other situations rather than your own very narrow experience. Ou are one person with one experience, stop assuming everyone else lives your life.

But @Vebrithien I'm not sure that delving into queer theory would be your best option for fighting what the school is doing. I don't think evidence on that will be the best course of action. Have you been in touch with Safe Schools Alliance/looked at their website? Might be a good place to start.

I agree with this @Vebrithien . I'm thinking on the hoof here ... I would possibly cite the Maya Forstater ruling that protects an individual's right to believe that sex is real. (That's where we are these days...)

At absolute barest minimum, I would expect the school to balance views dispassionately, in the way they approach religion. 'Some people believe this, others believe this...'

I would also expect / demand science to be rooted in evidence based fact.

I know.

It has to be on ALL athletes to boycott not just women.

Also I don't think anyone who makes these suggestions has a fucking clue how much hard work it takes to get to professional level and they blithely suggest that women should throw it all away to make way to make way for these males.

These males are fucking laughing their heads off. It's about power and control. And Tygger thinks that the women should acquiesce!

And for all of these saying "There are hardly any transwomen athletes A tiny, tiny, little smol few" etc

Even ONE is too many because he even if he comes last (hahahahaha) he takes a place off a girl/ woman who has worked her backside off to get to that level.

You just had to watch that fat trans cyclist McKinnon/Ivy to see that he hadn't made any effort with training nd yet he could still beat fit, dedicated women. Here he prepares for a race.

twitter.com/ripx4nutmeg/status/1514210644349919232

There is a slightly longer clip somewhere where it shows him being helped up. It takes two blokes to get him back upright. But I can't find it, unfortunately.

Sugarfree23 · 01/02/2023 12:10

McKinnon gets 💯 for being the person who peaked me!

That photo of him on the podium with the two much smaller ladies.

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 01/02/2023 12:10

And if there is only a tiny number of trans women athletes why the hell are the many many women athletes expected to give up their sports and start again @Tygger and friends, for this tiny number, instead of the trans women setting up their own?

I'm hoping "Isla" gets to practice waxing some far hairer specimens in good auld Bar -L. 😃

Back,sack'n'crack.

ReneBumsWombats · 01/02/2023 12:23

You don't need many male athletes to ruin women's sport. In the 2016 Summer Olympics Women's 800m, not one of the medallists - Caster Semenya, Francine Niyonsaba Burundi and Margaret Wambui - were natally female.

blubberyboo · 01/02/2023 12:26

Tygger · 01/02/2023 10:43

I don't see the problem with reassigning disabled toilets. I think that you naysayers are making a mountain out of a molehill.
The number of transwomen is tiny, I've never seen a queue for a disabled toilet, so what's your problem? All disabled toilets have a sign saying " not all disabilities are visible".
It may be that women outnumber men in the UK and men support women in defending their rights, even the MCP's, so get off mumsnet and get out there protesting, take to the streets, pressure your mp.

We don’t want to make our argument for protected spaces result in disabled people losing the hard fought spaces they have won. That is counterproductive to females and just makes another enemy of women.

Thats one of the most worrying aspects of this whole farrago to me. The extent to which this tendentious belief system seems to taken on board by schools, under the malign influence of Stonewall and other groups. Which has no basis in science or biology.

TangledWebOfDeception · 01/02/2023 12:43

Beliefs should not be given equal weighting to fact. Certainly not when it comes to sex vs. gender woo where implications are potentially so very damaging to children/young people (psychologically and physically).

Sex is not a belief. It is fact.

SinnerBoy · 01/02/2023 12:59

Tygger · Today 10:53

No it doesn't, these toilets are used infrequently, by both men and women, have you ever seen a queue for a disabled toilet, do you know how many transgender men there are in the country?

They're dedicated to disabled people, not the abled bodied. It's selfish and ignorant to demand their use for people who don't need them.

What's the problem that you forsee?

I've already explained, as have others. You evidently don't have any regard for people outside your own group.

I agree with you.

However, I am an atheist and already have to accept my children being taught various forms of non evidence based beliefs in class anyway, in the form of religion. As I said, at bare minimum I'd take balance. I'd prefer science over all of it.

OP posts:
TangledWebOfDeception · 01/02/2023 13:22

Of course. But with religions it's perfectly possible to stress that there are many different beliefs, and one can choose whether to believe or not.

Balance is just as bad as imbalance in my view. However I take a very hard line on this issue.

TangledWebOfDeception · 01/02/2023 13:35

(in fact balance, certainly where children/teenagers are concerned, is arguably far worse - as I said, it legitimises an ideology that has no basis in fact nor science, and on top of it is potentially extremely damaging)

FOJN · 01/02/2023 13:57

Good grief, have I really returned to a thread to find someone has popped in and suggested that women and anyone with a disability start from scratch campaigning for rights, services, sports and facilities and turn over everything they already have to make way for a tiny number of transwomen?

TangledWebOfDeception · 01/02/2023 14:08

A flawed premise on (at least) two counts:

It's not a tiny number. And even if it were, appropriation of others' hard won and legally afforded spaces is not acceptable.

But the sun is shining and I am off out to enjoy it!

And we don't want to buy our safety/ comfort the expense of someone else - especially when it shouldn't be necessary.

However, I am an atheist and already have to accept my children being taught various forms of non evidence based beliefs in class anyway, in the form of religion. As I said, at bare minimum I'd take balance. I'd prefer science over all of it.

With religion there is no proof one way or another. However with sex vs gender there is definite and very easily observable proof in favour of biology.

Empowermenomore · 02/02/2023 09:39

note to self after reading some of this thread:
1- Trans Stonewall style is an ever growing umbrella (trans age being the latest). It has no clear boundaries, definition or base in reality.

2- Transgenderism is not the same as homosexuality. How dare they say section 28, when they are the first accusing lesbians of not wanting to have sex with TW.

3- Trans is not and adjective like black. Black women are as much of a woman as white or Asian or Nativesmerican, etc there are class and ethnic intersections but biological sex is the same.

4- intersex people don’t wish to be a pawn for Transgender ideology. Although there will be people with gender dysphoria among them as there are among the general population, they are men and women with specific differences of sex development which affects their lives seriously and for which they need medical treatment. Before any surgeries they are encouraged to talk with people that have and haven’t taken that procedure. This is very different to the affirmation model.

5- The gender recognition certificate is a legal fiction passed to allow same sex marriage when it was illegal, but even then it stated that first born females of aristocratic origen could not inherit the estate by a GRC. There is no clear understanding when this transubstanciation of men to men with GRC allowed to female rights and space takes place. Well, it is becoming clear it happens when the man says it happens.

6- Despite 5 above, it’s not clear what it’s meant by living as a woman or a man means. It appears that a stick on moustache or a wig suffice. Taking makeup courses, wearing pink and painting your nails might aid TW. Wearing trousers and walking as if you own the place might be the TM equivalent?

7- Trans is not a sex or a sexuality so what is it? It appears is a desire to make others see you as you see your self in your wildest fantasies. As for the Q,I,A,+ etc I have a vague idea after seeing people wearing holeplugs and being parade as dogs on some Pride events.

8- Women rights are a subset of Trans rights, which are human rights. Why would they prefer to take over and even close women spaces when they have millions of donations to be able to create specific refuges to suit their very different to women’s needs, goddess only knows.

9- There are some times I can see coercive control in practice. If it was same as a religion no one will be forced to refer to a catholic priest as father, for instance.

10- but really first in my mind is that transexual was changed to transgender to sell it to kids as a benign concept. But transsexuality is an adult area. Children are easily lead and their vulnerabilities and insecurities easily exploited and manipulated to suit others. Leave kids alone.

I’ve run out of steam but as much as I care for the TM that have crossed my path, men do not belong in women only sports, prisons, wards, etc.

TangledWebOfDeception · 02/02/2023 10:04

@Empowermenomore

YES!

Be aware, everyone. There is a central principle here: No boundaries. No one should be allowed to say no to me. Think where that leads to.

Emotionalsupportviper · 02/02/2023 12:49

What it has already led to with Drag Story Times and that repulsive rainbow monkey thing. @TangledWebOfDeception

This is a group of people which it totally obsessed with sex, and worse, imposing their own foul perversions onto other people. They aren't content with indulging themselves in privacy and with other consenting adults. They want to force themselves on everyone - that's where they get their power kick from.

It's beyond vile.

And excellent post @Empowermenomore .

TangledWebOfDeception · 02/02/2023 12:56

Oh yes it's happened and is happening now. It's not some theoretical possibility - 'oh someday it might lead to X Y and Z'. I'm not going to go into detail here but anyone with ANY sense knows it doesn't stop at 'we want women's spaces; no boundaries for women; women should not say no to us'.

Children and teenagers are being BLAMED for objecting to penises being displayed at them FGS!
