Beauty students asked to strip in front of trans rapist at college AFTER sex attacks

My AIBU title taken from this news article:

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/beauty-students-asked-strip-front-29063499

This whole 'Isla Bryson' cluster-fuck has me angrier than I can describe.

These girls had to accept and trust this vile individual in their beauty course on the basis of Isla's claim to be a woman, nothing more. They even tolerated abuse from Isla.

They were not told this individual was facing charges of rape. The college claim they didn't know either. Because 'Isla' said he was a women, these young women felt they had no choice but to strip to virtually naked in front of him. Failing to do so would be 'bigoted'.

But he also happens to be a serial rapist. Young women, some possibly aged 16 or so, stripping to virtually naked while a serial rapist watches. If this was my daughter I would be going mad.

Where is the safeguarding?

AIBU to feel viscerally angry with all our politicians about this?

I must ask for Anne's secret for success, so I can share it with my fellow female lifters. It is a brain teaser for sure

it is…wonder what it could be

anne seems a wee bit hard of thinking

But is this not exactly what people are trying to change. I don't care if a man sees me naked, I don't care if a doctor is male or female. I don't feel threatened by men. The defining point of feminism is equality it's not an unfair advantage over men which is what people are advocating. I don't want to be treat different to men, I don't want woman to have to have a "safe" space away from men, what we want is a society where sex doesn't even come into it. Where it's fine to show some boob, chest, leg etc. I think the whole trans debated has highlighted how we still separate by sex when it isn't needed!

@Grumpybutfunny

“But is this not exactly what people are trying to change. I don't care if a man sees me naked, I don't care if a doctor is male or female. I don't feel threatened by men”

Well, aren’t you special?

Go change in the men’s then - if they consent to have you there - or find a group of men you can change with to prove you’re one of the cool girls.

You’re free to consent for yourself if you want.

You don’t get to invite men into the single-sex space I’m using. Because I don’t consent to them being there, and you don’t get to consent for me.

Because that’s what consent means.

The defining point of feminism is equality

I’m afraid you’re sadly misinformed.

You’re thinking of egalitarianism.

Which is a good thing but it’s not feminism.

Feminism is the movement for the liberation of women.

Anyone like the 'cool with it all poster' who thinks the concern about this is something that only has support from feminists is totally wrong (I don't regard myself as a feminist as it happens - I know many do here). It's way way broader than that. No woman should support this craziness.

I genuinely don't mind if a doctor is male. But some women do and that should be their right. I certainly would have minded when I was a shy teenager, particularly if I was being told that the man was actually a woman! Or imagine going for a first bra fitting and a six foot bloke in a wig turns up. At the moment that could happen.

FOJN · 30/01/2023 11:16

It's already happened. There was a thread about it a few years ago. 13 year old with mum in M+S and the bra fitter was a man who thought he was a woman.

TangledWebOfDeception · 30/01/2023 11:17

It has happened. One reason why I have boycotted M&S and John Lewis for years now.

They told women who complained to fuck off, that protecting the feelz of the males who wanted to parade around in lingerie was more important than having a female changing rooms/bra fitting rooms.

So I fucked off and I will never shop with them again.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/01/2023 11:19

I recall that bra fitter posted on here in a misguided attempt to persuade women that men with or without a fetish should be allowed to fit bras on unconsenting women.
Of course, it goes some way to explain why the Isla Bryson and his ilk are made so welcome in M & S's lingerie changing rooms.

TangledWebOfDeception · 30/01/2023 11:21

Don't forget the horrible, horrible 'reviews' on underwear that M&S didn't seem to think was any problem at all.

TangledWebOfDeception · 30/01/2023 11:25

It happened/happens in the NHS too - what was that horrible case where a woman who requested a female doctor/practitioner for intimate examinations was called out (by name, I think??) for it in internal comms or something like that? Cannot remember the details. Hope someone remembers. Absolutely WRONG on every level. Shameful.

A woman requested a female HCP for mammogram, in a letter disclosing her trauma from rape.

Subsequently she discovered her letter had been used as an example of "unacceptable transphobia" in training by her hospital trust.

I feel awful that I cannot remember her name.

BoredOfThisMansWorld · 30/01/2023 11:49

I'm fairly sure Bravissimo uses the equality act to only employ female bra fitters btw.

Ironically, they were always known as the worst shop on the High Street for bra fitting.

They've been shit for years anyway. Not even Twiggy could save them now.

Rainbowshit · 30/01/2023 12:35

Why are transwomen attracted to jobs which should be strictly female only?

Like the transwoman who deceived their way into a job at the tapas crisis centre that was advertised as female only under the exceptions provided on the equality act.

Who commented that some females orgasm while being raped.

Who stated that traumatised rape victims who wanted an actual female rape counsellor were just bigots and should be told to "reframe their trauma"

🤔

True, but entirely beside the point tbf. Many elderly women go to M&S as a matter of course for things like that.

Viviennemary · 27/01/2023 13:05

I've just read about this. Absolutely unbelievable. This is all down to Nicola Sturgeon IMHO. Laws to protect a vile rapist and never mind other vulnerable people like those beauty students who might be traumatised for the rest of their lives. But the college has a lot to answer allowing this dangerous bully to remain on the course before eventually expelling him.

What utter pish!!! The simple fact is the court should have put in his bail conditions he was not to be put in this position. To judge every transgender on the worst one you can find is disgusting! Just like people used to say the sender about gay people, wsnst true then isn't true now.

CrazyLadie · 30/01/2023 12:57

Theluggage15 · 27/01/2023 14:01

I’d have been laughing if it wasn’t so serious, at the trans brigade who are now saying ‘ but he’s not proper trans, he’s a fake, he’s just taking advantage.’ But I thought if a bloke said he was a woman then he’s a woman, that you mustn’t question them and I thought they said no one would take advantage.

The mental gymnastics the trans activists engage in must be knackering.

Yeah but this guy never showed any indication previously and only changed after he was charged. The court should have put something in his bail conditions, but the maw is innocent till proven guilty

Doh!!! Fo you not realise that has been in law since 2004 across the whole of the UK?

TangledWebOfDeception · 30/01/2023 12:58

A man is always a man no matter how he feels about it.

Men do not belong in close, intimate proximity with women without their explicit consent. They do not belong in women's and girls' spaces. Period.

It's been law for M&S to be appalling at bra fitting? No wonder they've been so diligent about it.

TangledWebOfDeception · 30/01/2023 13:02

Anyone want to explain the LAW to our little plopper? I've not got the patience.

ReneBumsWombats · 30/01/2023 13:10

Well, I thought this was obvious, but the change in LAW would mean a change in who is legally a woman and therefore able to use those spaces. In 2004, that meant transwomen with a GRC....in other words, a very small number of people who had been through a medical and legal process that seemed to work pretty well. No serious problems as far as I am aware.

Once the LAW says that any old intact man becomes a woman merely by saying he is, that's literally carte blanche for any predator to get in, and have the LAW on his side. As any fule kno.

every transgender

How about your own transphobic in dehumanising trans people? every transgender is dehumanising. Did you realise that? It is up there with 'the transes' and other dehumanising language.

By the way. Your attempt at catastrophising and polarising is so old trope.

No. I don't believe that any person on this thread who is discussing supporting women's and children's rights and safeguarding has 'judged every transgender person by the worst example'.

I am sure you know that. But you just felt that you should attempt to frame the discussion as hate while you could. Otherwise you would not be dishonestly using such hyperbolic and overly emotional terms and language.

I'm not judging 'every transgender' (nice way of referring to trans people) I'm relying on the evidence about which sex commits the majority (99%) of sexual offences. So unless yo are going to dispute the MoJ stats or claim that human beings can actually change sex then I am saying we should risk assess according to sex not gender which means that males, including those who say they are women, should never be housed in the female prison estate.

You are really going for transphobic gold today.

We have been told consistently and loudly that every single person who says they are a trans person is a trans person.

Why are you declaring this person is not trans?

Who put you as any kind of spokesperson for trans people? Why are you so keen on gatekeeping who is trans?

The issue is not whether this person is 'trans' at all. The issue is and always was that this person is MALE. What should have always been the case was that no MALE prisoners should ever have been moved to a FEMALE prison.

There is no difference in safeguarding risk between groups of males. This is why it is imperative that the correct language is used when it is needed.

They are trans because they said they are. But the fact is that they are also male. And Stonewall and other lobby groups assure us all that nobody denies their sex and when it is important sex should be considered.

Maybe stop with your transphobic posts and post with some respect.
