Beauty students asked to strip in front of trans rapist at college AFTER sex attacks

My AIBU title taken from this news article:

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/beauty-students-asked-strip-front-29063499

This whole 'Isla Bryson' cluster-fuck has me angrier than I can describe.

These girls had to accept and trust this vile individual in their beauty course on the basis of Isla's claim to be a woman, nothing more. They even tolerated abuse from Isla.

They were not told this individual was facing charges of rape. The college claim they didn't know either. Because 'Isla' said he was a women, these young women felt they had no choice but to strip to virtually naked in front of him. Failing to do so would be 'bigoted'.

But he also happens to be a serial rapist. Young women, some possibly aged 16 or so, stripping to virtually naked while a serial rapist watches. If this was my daughter I would be going mad.

Where is the safeguarding?

AIBU to feel viscerally angry with all our politicians about this?

A bit of me still hopes that the Labour Party will come to their senses on this before the next election. But I'm not holding my breath.

TangledWebOfDeception · 29/01/2023 16:21

I wouldn't hold your breath.

They ought to be held to task for it. ALL of them.

Wow! The false logic on this thread this afternoon is a real site to see.

Who the fuck honestly believes ‘true equality’ is males and females getting naked in the same room?

No. Just no.

Equality is both sexes getting the safety and dignity that they need, when they need it.

And so much of the rest is ‘I’m alright Jack, you should be too!’

Rather fucked up reasoning when discussing feminist theory and women’s needs.

ReneBumsWombats · 29/01/2023 16:25

Who the fuck honestly believes ‘true equality’ is males and females getting naked in the same room?

Someone who wants to see women getting undressed when they don't want him to.

Your lack of boundaries suggests you’re happy to strip off in the street. Why do you think gyms have changing rooms rather than a load of lockers along the wall of the gym and glass fronted showers in the corner, because apparently you’re happy to strip off in front of anyone. I’m sure we used to have words like exhibitionist and flasher for this sort of behaviour. Probably now called clothes challenged.

EsmaCannonball · 29/01/2023 16:31

We have sex-separated facilities because we don't live in an egalitarian utopia where everyone is treated respectfully; we have them because mixed sex space always becomes male-dominated space. Men don't dominate these spaces because of their sheer brilliance, they do it with the threat of their greater physical power. Any man who chooses to use women-only spaces is showing he is more likely to capitalise on this threat than other men.

I have seen this rhetoric recently before used on the FWR board. It will come to me soon who else has used that same fucked up bit of crap logic.

Maybe the same people who keep telling us sex work is work and Only Fans is great for female 'empowerment'? Hmm

I will accept woman need protection when self defence is taught in schools and it's normal for woman to build muscle mass yet they are still getting attacked

well if the boys are doing the same then they’ll still be stronger

atleast they don't bully people for having different views or looks

could you define bully please, cos quite obviously males ‘bully’ people for having different views and looks…it’s completely nonsensical to say otherwise

The problem is, of course, that even if all girls become black belts and built strength while the boys sat on their backsides and didn't do anything, is that the vast majority of males will still have far superior strength and be able to overpower women. Biology is a bitch that way!

And in instances where two professional athletes meet, it's still not a fair fight. Like good old Fallon Fox! A blast from the past for most of us, although for some on this thread this might be a new name.

Fallon is a biological male who transitioned and stepped into the MMA ring against a woman, subsequently fracturing the skull of their opponent. Fallon's opponent, (Tamikka Brents) described the fight:

“I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night. I can’t answer whether it’s because she was born a man or not because I’m not a doctor. I can only say, I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right. Her grip was different, I could usually move around in the clinch against other females but couldn’t move at all in Fox’s clinch," Brents told Whoa TV.

But be kind everyone. Be kind.

fair point

@AlisonDonut I would put all stranger rapists to death so he wouldn't be around to rent the room. I would put most criminals to death. But if he did get in the room no I wouldn't feel threatened by him being there. Do you know why, because I was brought up to look after myself and would stand a good chance of defending myself. We as a society encourage woman to be scared of threats not to rise up and be stronger, fitter and faster. If you want protection surely you would be better with males not inclined to rape also being in the room, as he would be strong enough to over power the man your afraid of and don't want to be stronger than.

If your so determined he doesn't see you in underwear do you never sunbath in swimwear or shock horror topless? Have you never worked out in a bra and cycling shorts? Do you not wear tight clothes? Do you never walk through the woods at night?

Yes I live in a nice area and no I would never want to live in a city. I'm raising a boy in a time where being flirty like his dad was to me could be seen as sexual harassment so yes I will defend the right of boys to also be safe, free and empowered over a fear of being attacked. Do you know why, because crime is thankfully rare in this country. I have also watched a boy I grew up with defend himself against false accusations, the pain he went through as the weaker girl had to be telling the truth was unreal. I never want to see someone I know go through something like that again so yes I will shout for a society where we are all equal, where being seen undressed by opposite sex is as normal as picking up a pint of milk. Because only then can we say the genders are equal, when we stop segregating ourselves over the shape of our bodies!!

Finally the bullying that goes on in girls bathrooms is a lot more scarring than some boy making a sexual pass.

You utter wingnut.

You cannot both kill rapists and not be in any way afraid of them.

If you were not afraid of men and they were no threat, there would be no reason to kill them once they raped.

Fucking twat.

ReneBumsWombats · 29/01/2023 19:44

"I'll put rapists to death but segregating them by sex in prison is totally ridiculous."

Possibly MRA. After all, he specified "stranger rape", which we all know is the only kind of rape that those people think is real.

It's an MRA thing to enjoy putting people to death (they're the kind of people who just need a reason), but to recoil from any civilised sort of safeguard that protects women.

scratchedbymycat · 29/01/2023 20:32

But is this not exactly what people are trying to change. I don't care if a man sees me naked, I don't care if a doctor is male or female. I don't feel threatened by men. The defining point of feminism is equality it's not an unfair advantage over men which is what people are advocating. I don't want to be treat different to men, I don't want woman to have to have a "safe" space away from men, what we want is a society where sex doesn't even come into it. Where it's fine to show some boob, chest, leg etc. I think the whole trans debated has highlighted how we still separate by sex when it isn't needed!

This is all Queer Theory claptrap... The theory based on a cringingly stupid interpretation of postmodernism, but with its tortured language and absurd mental gymnastics making university students feel really really really clever, as if they understand a complex philosophical argument that's way beyond the reach of ordinary folk. It makes me cringe. Some of us know enough about both postmodernism and feminism to recognise Queer Theory as a bastardised dumbed down version of both.

Indeed. I'm strong for a woman of my size and I've been strength training for well over 10 years. And yet spindly teen boys who are having their first forays into the gym will outlift me within weeks/months. If not on their first day. It can be a bit galling but that's biology. However, health permitting, I could grow a baby if I wanted to and feed them from my own body, no male can do that. Men and women are different in some key biological ways, which in some situations does require us to be treated differently and there is nothing wrong with that. It's called reality.

The only other possibility, of course, is that us women just aren't trying hard enough. I will be spending my evening pondering the question raised by Canada's women's powerlifting record holder in bench, Anne Andres who asked:

"Why is womens bench so bad? ...my son, he weighs 45lbs. His max bench is like 33. I'm legit seeing some women in competitions who are doing something like 50lbs and I just don't understand it."

I don't know, it's a bloody mystery what could be going on there which means both Anne and son seem to be so disproportionately stronger compared to those pathetic female competitors. Definitely time to call Poirot in to investigate.

Women must try harder or let men take over winning the women's competitions, so they can show us how it's done properly. Just like Anne.

Anne has won 8 of 9 competitions in the women’s 185+ category in the last 4 years. And in a July 2022 competition, Anne bench pressed 259 lbs over the woman who bench pressed the second most amount, 198.4 lbs.

I must ask for Anne's secret for success, so I can share it with my fellow female lifters. It is a brain teaser for sure.

The funny thing is, postmodern writers have no trouble telling men from women. They may destabilise everything else, but on that, they seem to be pretty clear. Martin Amis, John Fowles...they know what a woman is.

scratchedbymycat · 29/01/2023 20:52

Oh, I know the answer to this one @Aroundtheriverbend ... Anne eats a balanced diet of special foods that works magic on the ephemeral essence of inner womanliness (secret diet of course, only a select handful of athletes know about it).

Not to mention that absolutely no one who does self defence training would advise women to fight an attacker. The generally principle is to get away as fast as you can and retaliatory violence should only be used if you are confident it will create an opportunity to escape. Anything else would be escalation and a good way to get yourself killed when survival should be the priority.

I have a crystal clear memory of sitting in a seminar room at Uni discussing a postmodernist interpretation of race in a literature course. In the meanwhile, black students were rioting about the unfair treatment of a black kid by the police on the campus and I could see it all happening through the window of the room I sat in. The juxtaposition of the absolute intellectual wankery in the room I was in, and the raw race reality outside was profound. Thank god I 'got it' when I was young. There's a possibility @Grumpybutfunny will cringe in mortification one day and think, "Can't believe I actually said that". It's fine as a thought experiment, quite fun even, but that's all it is. Anyone who takes it more seriously than that is, well ... a bit stupid, I think.

This whole thing sickens me.
There was a case like this in America where the man was getting aroused in the lunch queue.
It disgusts me that women are put at further risk by these revolting people.
I don’t even want to think what would happen if a poor woman was locked in a cell with that thing.
