Beauty students asked to strip in front of trans rapist at college AFTER sex attacks

My AIBU title taken from this news article:

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/beauty-students-asked-strip-front-29063499

This whole 'Isla Bryson' cluster-fuck has me angrier than I can describe.

These girls had to accept and trust this vile individual in their beauty course on the basis of Isla's claim to be a woman, nothing more. They even tolerated abuse from Isla.

They were not told this individual was facing charges of rape. The college claim they didn't know either. Because 'Isla' said he was a women, these young women felt they had no choice but to strip to virtually naked in front of him. Failing to do so would be 'bigoted'.

But he also happens to be a serial rapist. Young women, some possibly aged 16 or so, stripping to virtually naked while a serial rapist watches. If this was my daughter I would be going mad.

Where is the safeguarding?

AIBU to feel viscerally angry with all our politicians about this?

Right on the whole DBS thing a few points.

In Scotland we don't have the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) we have Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) which is broadly the same thing.

16-18 year olds are in a special category when it comes to police record checking. PVG/DBS define anyone under the age of 18 as a "child", but also recognise that people under 18 are not all in school full-time. Some are working full time, some are doing apprenticeships, others have part time jobs. If a 16 or 17 year old has a part time job at McDonalds, the rest of the staff members or the managers do NOT require a police check.

Young people who are 16 or 17 and who are at college/University do not require a DBS/PVG check to start their course. Older, mature students do not require a PVG check to sit in a classroom with younger students as this does not constitute "regulated activity" as per the legal definition. This does not apply to people aged 16/17 who are applying for courses like nursing, teaching, physiotherapy. Teachers in colleges will be expected to have DBS/pVG checks if they are dealing with students under 18 as this IS regulated activity.

Beauty therapy, hairdressing, nails etc is NOT regulated activity and therefore students enrolling on these sorts of courses - irrespective of age - cannot be asked for a standard/enhanced check.

All colleges can do legally would be to ask every student to have a basic level DBS/PVG check which will disclose current unspent convictions and cautions only. Many educational establishments and especially colleges do no do this, there has been a genera move away from asking about unspent convictions as it is felt that it puts people off "bettering themselves" for want of a better expression through fear of having to disclose a teenage offence.

Besides, a basic DBS/PVG will only show convictions and cautions, and at that stage Bryson/Graham had not been convicted.

Yes it's a shit show and yes it has put those 16/17 year old girls in a horrendous situation. But I don't think legally anything has been done incorrectly. What of course SHOULD have been happening is that the girls should have been speaking up and refusing to change or strip to their knickers in front of "Annie" but they were clearly too scared of being branded nasty transphobes. This is a clear loophole in the legislation.

This is a clear loophole in the legislation.

Is it a loophole in the legislation though? Wouldn't this college have had the right to bar this individual under the EA given the intimate nature of the course? Isn't the 'loophole' really that everyone is too scared to actually use the law we have to protect women and girls because 'exclusion' and 'transphobia'. Nicola Sturgeon etc keep claiming the laws are there to protect women and girls and noth8ng has changed, but wilfully fail to recognise NO ONE IS ABLE TO USE THEM without a ton of hate and bile coming their way. It's farcical. Look at the reaction JKR got when she opened up a single sex crisis unit....

You’re anger is justified & magnificent @FOJN

Ive been in this fight for a little while now though not as long as many others and I still struggle to wrap my head around the cognitive dissonance of

  • Acceptance without exception
  • if a man says he is a woman then he is #nodebate
  • no we won’t define what we mean by woman beyond “feeelz”
  • twaw
  • except for men who say they are women but they’re not really for reasons apparently

It would be nice if it did but it won’t, not yet.

The trans activists have been working on this for years. Their stated strategy was to target the prisons and ‘work closely’ with them to bring in self id as they identified prison as the biggest challenge and toughest example. They strategised that if they could gain a ‘win’ there, then all other public services would have to follow.

Any challenges to self id policies in hospitals etc could be quashed by pointing at the prisons - if they can ‘make it work’ there, there is no argument to not have it everywhere. A man called James Morton worked on the strategy document years ago.

The policies and training are now deeply embedded in our public services. Trans activists have set up themselves up to ‘police’ the language and ‘inclusivity’ of their colleagues reporting anyone who dissents or asks for single sex spaces.

They have embedded themselves in some schools and the police and judiciary as well as the civil service. They deliver ‘training courses’ that misrepresent the law and make false claims about the plight of trans people.

This will take years to fix. But this case has given a boost to public awareness at least.

This is very interesting richard thank you for sharing, many of us I’m sure won’t have been aware of this. If you don’t mind me asking, who do you think is ultimately behind this movement and why? I have been going back and forth on this for so long now, wondering who the puppet masters really are, who in government really wants this etc.

Beauticians tend to work alone in single rooms

I just had a thought. Imagine if Isla Bryson, serial rapist, qualified as a beautician and got a job working as one in a salon . In those single rooms, waxing the bikini areas of clients who are too scared to refuse because 'transphobia', in a salon too scared to control it because 'discrimination'. Christ.

You know my brain just can't go there.

The proof that self ID is bollocks ( excuse the pun)

Yeah. You can't just decide someone isn't a 'real' trans woman based on crimes they've committed. You can't pick and choose like that.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/01/2023 21:01

James Rennie, leader of one of Scotlands most notorious paedophile ring founded LGBT Youth Scotland. He is obviously now in prison but his charity was never properly investigated and is now the subject of grooming allegations which have been presented to the police for investigation. They still work with the Scottish government and in schools.

Jic anyone missed this, James Rennie, amongst his many other crimes against children, raped a three month old baby. He was, at the time, in charge of LGBT Youth.

At least two young men have made complaints of sexual exploitation when they were children by older men associated with this organisation. Apparently, Scottish Police are still refusing to investigate the organisation.

FOJN · 27/01/2023 20:48

The girls I know who chose to do beauty courses all started around 16, straight out of school, instead of pursuing advanced highers. When I read this I imagined them standing virtually naked while an adult menacing serial rapist watched. It is completely unforgivable.

And the girls and college said and did nothing because anyone who does pays a heavy price. There would have been rape and death threats, risks to the students future employment, the college would have been hounded by transactivists.

The lovely women on the feminist board believe in golden bridges and welcoming people when the light finally dawn's about what a bad idea self ID has always been but I'm not one of those women.

If you've ever posted on a thread about what a transphobic place MN is and how TERF's are all full of hate then you have contributed to the climate of fear which kept both the students and college silent and threw safeguarding out of the window.

YOU SHOULD BE FUCKING ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES, YOU ARE A VIRTUE SIGNALLING, DICK PANDERING DISGRACE.

If I have to be nice and forgiving of your utter stupidity to get you to support the rights of women and safeguarding then we don't need you in the fight, you are too easily influenced by absolute bollocks and represent a liability not an asset.

I too was live and let live but the instant I became aware of tension between women's rights and self ID (about 5 years ago) the problems were as obvious as the nose on my face, I didn't need persuading.

I don't care what you think about my anger, I cannot forgive the people who have played a part in engineering a situation where teenage girls are forced into a situation where they are nearly naked in front of an adult male, sexual predator or not, and where their right to refuse consent has been taken away by people who think they are fucking kind.

I'm standing right beside you @FOJN on every single word.

MeinKraft · 27/01/2023 20:07

Thing is if they're going to do it on a case by case basis then every trans person is going to end up being hounded by the media because we know it's the only way to keep women safe. There really needs to be an agreement on a proper procedure for everyone's benefit.

Yes, men in the Male estate. That's been proper procedure since women had a female estate. See how easy that was?

If I wrote down what I believe should be karma for JR I’d probably be banned. Sentences for this type of human scum are pathetic. But that’s for another day.

I won't forget any of the celebrities/politicians etc that enabled this EVER I'm so fucking angry I'm fed up with trying to reason with people. This is a tweet from Aisling Bea a few years ago, wonder if she's ever going to be embarrassed by it or the numerous times she's slagged JKR and Graham off. Probably not.

Well those are tweets that didn’t age well 😬 dickheads.

Scotland is possibly the most unsafe place for women in the UK. Biological women that is. Not XY men with delusions.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/01/2023 21:24

The Senedd, Welsh Parliament, have politicians that are gagging to bring this into Wales. Mark Drakeford (?), I think he the equivalent of the First Minister, is totally in favour of it. It was the Labour Party policy. I've seen no evidence they've changed.

OMG12 · 27/01/2023 21:25

All these people saying transwomen are women - well they now seem to have some filter of oh not that one, not that one they’re fake whilst hoping we forget about all their previous comments about if someone says they’re a woman if they say they are and no man would ever pretend to be a woman for any reason apart from feeling they’re born in the wrong body.

The whole ideology has just collapsed and been exposed for the farce it is.

I think the REAL transphobes are all these Self ID loving TRAs now claiming that Isla Bryson is not a 'REAL' (trans) woman and is 'faking' trans to access women's spaces.

Either trans women are women or they're not. Actual Cis women don't become not-women when they commit a crime, even if the crime does involve serious sexual offending which is infinitesimally rare among women anyway. Nor are they shipped off to male prisons on the grounds that sexual offenders don't belong in women's prisons. There are female sexual offenders in women's prisons. They didn't suddenly stop being a woman and deserve to go to a men's jail when they were convicted.

The TRAs are more or less admitting that trans women are a subordinate class of women not women at all because the minute they commit a repulsive crime, their womanhood will be doubted, questioned and denied. Something that would never happen to women-born-women.

I don't question whether Isla Bryson is a genuine trans person with genuine dysmorphia. They may very well be for all I, or anyone else, know. The fact that they have committed repulsive sexual offences has NO bearing whatsoever of my perception of their gender orientation. They are a man, whether they commit hideous crimes or live like a boy Girl Scout. Makes no difference to me.

Oh I ve worked out the problem. When you join the Terfs you get a nice lapel pin, a scarf, some coloured ribbon, a roll of stickers and a cauldron.

When you Join the TRAs you get a tru trans detector.

So the question is instead of attending demos and shouting at the Terfs why didn't they just attend and hand out free detectors?

This could have been sorted years ago.

oh hang on, just getting an update.

Apparently they only recieved the bullshit tru trans detector late last night.

Well probably get ours next week.

Men can never be women, however they choose to identify or present. They are MEN, of the male sex. They will ALWAYS be MALE.

I don't know who exactly is behind this promotion of Queer Theory worldwide, but here is as bit of background to the types of people who have been pushing for the GRA Bill in Scotland (and to whom members of all the Scottish political parties seem to in thrall judging by the round of applause they turned to give these people when the bill was passed in the Scottish Parliament). wingsoverscotland.com/the-grooming-of-holyrood/ Incidentally, a PP posted a photo of the types of placards threatening violence against women being waved about by transactivists at a recent demo in Edinburgh. I'm posting the uncropped version, which shows SNP Kirsten Oswald and MSP Kaukab Stewart in front of the placards. Did these politicians not notice, or did they not care? Either way, not fit to be elected representatives. Also at the same demo and apparently not bothered by the placards were SNP MPs Alison Thewliss and Stewart McDonald, along with Ellie Gomersall of the Scottish Greens.

Women in Scotland are not only under the threat of losing their rights and being subjected to violence; we are also effectively being disenfranchised because just about all of the political establishment in Scotland has been captured by this madness.
