Surely nobody can eat a pack of pate?

There are 4 of us. Once a week we have lots of different types of salads with French bread and pate as our evening meal. We love pate. It gets eaten at breakfast on toast in the days afterwards.

We never managed to eat it all before we’re scared of it. Why don’t they sell it in usable portions?

I'm struggling with the concept of cheap pate from the co-op being classed as a treat and a "centre piece meal"!

I'm pissed off I forgot to buy pate this week now 🤣

TheFauxFighters · 26/01/2023 10:41

OP, this only makes sense if your family members are named Arrietty, Pod and Homily...

Also, who has salad with it "as a treat"? Surely you need a baked camembert, a vat of olives and some of those little cream cheese stuffed peppers before ir actually becomes a treat.

If my Saturday night treat tea was a salad I'd be fucking gutted.

Come now, you're being disingenuous - you missed out the thin scrape of pate!

Catspyjamas17 · 26/01/2023 10:47

I could eat a pack of Brussels pate on my own in a sitting.

I don't, but I could!

Luckingfovely · 26/01/2023 10:49

Oh god oh god oh god.

I kinda understand the OP.

Love the taste of pate. Hate the thought of liver in any other form. Have to eat it really quickly while singing LA LA LA in my head.

Once it's been in the fridge open (covered) for about 24 hours, I get the Pate Fear. And then the dogs get lucky.

There's no hope, is there?

This a joke isn't it? I've just pre-ordered pate for my starter for Sunday lunch. A cute little pot of it. I will eat it all. Not a posh restaurant a pub chain.

rainbowstardrops · 26/01/2023 11:01

Ooh I bloody love pate and haven't had any for ages! It's needs to be thick enough to see your teeth marks in!

Patineur · 26/01/2023 11:04

I bet paté sales have been going up all round the country as a result of this thread. OP, are you an undercover member of the Paté Marketing Board?

Urguth · 26/01/2023 11:22

I think the pate troll is actually a renegade genius advertising agency funded by the Pate Marketing Board.

They’re gonna win Gold at the awards dinner this year.

[Alexa add pate to shopping list]

Urguth · 26/01/2023 11:23

Oh bugger @Patineur xpost. I hadn’t refreshed the browser.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/01/2023 11:28

I feel like this about soft cheese which seems to grow mould while you look at it. Which is why I buy the individual serving packs of Philidephia.

Can we have a pate diagram? I am having a dinner party soon and could do with a pate centrepiece.

Are you imagining it carved into the shape of a duck or a pig? That would be awesome!

Snugglemonkey · 26/01/2023 11:32

Honestly, this just confuses me. I.can just about get over the weird pâté and salad treat dinner on a Saturday. We do this, but we also have olives, sundried tomatoes, pickles, a wee charcuterie board and sometimes a baked camembert. Your portioning is crazy op. How is it tricky to spread pâté thickly?

I'm liking this idea and think I'm going to have a pate and camebert dinner on Saturday

Like this but with more salad.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 26/01/2023 11:41

What about a chocolate fountain but with pate instead?

ZeroFuchsGiven · 26/01/2023 11:43

Or this!

That's like one of those duck or rabbit pictures.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 26/01/2023 11:48

Damn you all. I need to go to Waitrose at lunchtime and I don't think I'll be able to resist pate after this thread. I have proper sourdough and lovely French salted butter, so I will mainly be spending my afternoon on the sofa mainlining carbs and fat.

I think I am counting down the minutes until lunchtime!

BitOutOfPractice · 26/01/2023 11:51

ZeroFuchsGiven · 26/01/2023 11:43

Or this!

Now you are just messing with us @ZeroFuchsGiven ! Who eats pate with PEAS? Not even the slightly odd OP does that!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/01/2023 11:51

I'm imaging this, but obviously one slice between two people, as to eat any more would be greedy. Accompanied by one cherry tomato (halved), a couple of shreds of iceberg lettuce and a quarter slice of cucumber. They'll be stuffed after that! It's a wonder they can manage any breakfast on Sunday at all.

Am still PMSL at poo emoji on an oatcake.

not gonna be able to look an oatcake in the face now.

TangledWebOfDeception · 26/01/2023 11:53

Oh no I don’t think that’s a thin enough scraping!! It has to last half the week!

I’m going to make pâté on the back of this thread. Or terrine.

TangledWebOfDeception · 26/01/2023 11:55

Oh, my mistake! More than half the week!

Goodness what a lot of pâté for a once a week major treat...
