There are social tariffs for broadband and water if your on some benefits.
If you have Plantar Facilitis a Cortisone injection can be given free at the doctors and helps relieve the pain.
Tell us something we might not know that can help us?

Biological washing powder in hot water cuts through the greasiest of cupboard tops, and also lifts burnt on food from pans

A fishy odour can be an early sign of electrical fire. If you smell such a smell, and it makes no sense (such as in a bedroom) check electrical items near by.

This saved my life recently. I hope it’s helpful for
others.

If you accidentally use permanent marker on a whiteboard, you can use a whiteboard marker to get it off.

this also works with nail varnish if you've no remover.

If you're stranded in the Arctic and have to kill a polar bear for food, DON'T eat it's liver - at times it can contain so much Vitamin A that it could kill you.

Now where did I put that manky skull? 🧐😆

Bookworm20 · 20/01/2023 17:00

If you've done too much washing to fit on the line. Hang shirts/tops/dresses/whatever on hangers and hang the hangers on the line.
Much quicker to put it away too once dry, if you're a non-ironer like me. You can just take the clothes, nicely already hung up, off the line and stick them straight in the wardrobe.

Do loud looking if you have lost your child- instead of just shouting their name shout “I’m looking for a little girl with curly hair- blue top on” or whatever. That way people glancing around them will be aware if they see the child.

Gazelda · 20/01/2023 17:01

If you're ever stranded in the arctic and need to eat a polar bear for food, DON'T eat its liver etc etc etc.

Slice the liver and place it in a circle around your bivouac so that other beasts feast on the liver and die before they get to you.

You probably know this but always worth a share.
If you have any concerns about a bf - yours or someone else’s then use Clare’s Law to see if the bf has a history of violence against women. Local police webpage for form.

Thank you for that plantar advice, OP. Didn't know that. If mine flares up again, I'll ask.

BlackForestCake · 20/01/2023 17:04

I've cancelled my prepper forum and am just relying on Mumsnet for bear-fighting advice now.

Tiffan · 20/01/2023 17:04

Walking through fields with a dog that have livestock in:

Sheep: lead on
Cows: lead off (unless you have an Australian cattle dog obvs)

Option 3 is one that I take which is just never go into a field of cows.

I have never been offered cortisone at the go, always had to go private.

Use an app like one note to share lists with household members. DH and I share a shopping list so whoever is passing a shop knows what is needed.

If you need to set up power of attorney do it ASAP. It takes ages.

MaverickGooseGoose · 20/01/2023 17:05

Only buy one colour if socks eg all black or all white, patterns are a pita

Great bear advice! Anything for bisons?! 😆

Never try to wash your hands in a bison. They don't like it😂

Cheesetoastiesz · 20/01/2023 17:06

How some people don’t know some of these is really quite shocking.

Or people do and posters are teaching the masses to suck eggs

GasPanic · 20/01/2023 17:07

If your arse hurts after lying on the sofa watching tv for too long, simply roll over onto your front and continue watching.

Silk flowers clean up nicely, shaken in a plastic bag with some salt.
Baby oil is great for stainless steels sinks.

And um, bio washing powder or liquid cleans up any skulls you might want to preserve.
Get rid of as much of the soft tissue and brain that you can, then soak them in a solution for a few days to remove the residue. It brings them up nice and white.

Wild bears aren’t something that I’ve ever encountered. Is this something those of us who live in the Home Counties need to know about ?

my tip - when picking up a takeaway, put your heated seat on full and put takeaway on seat for drive back. (Don’t do this if you’ve picked up sushi)

I always do this too!

I also bring a plastic box (like a small laundry basket) to put the takeaway into so that it doesn't tip over and spill!

You don’t know what you don’t know though! And I personally feel much happier about my upcoming visit to the Arctic now I know about polar bear livers 😜

Sidge · 20/01/2023 17:11

When going for your smear lie as flat as you can. Means you’re not sitting on your cervix and it’s not so tilted so easier to get to. Also can negate the need to sit on your hands, which causes dead hands.

If you put too much salt in a dish you’re cooking on the hob, put a raw potato in - it absorbs the salt.

LimeCheesecake · 20/01/2023 17:11

I have zero bear knowledge. I don’t think that’s shocking.

Oh but come on, some of these an average 10 year old should know
