There are social tariffs for broadband and water if your on some benefits.
If you have Plantar Facilitis a Cortisone injection can be given free at the doctors and helps relieve the pain.
Tell us something we might not know that can help us?

Oh but come on, some of these an average 10 year old should know

I sense the tone of the thread has passed you by 🤣

Pyjamageddon · 20/01/2023 17:13

My best mumsnet tip:
if you're not interested in a thread, simply don't post on it 🤓

FrenchandSaunders · 20/01/2023 17:16

If you find you can’t put your wine glasses on the top shelf of the dishwasher easily …. there are two blue buttons on the side of the top shelf which drop it down a bit ….

Hand sanitiser will remove yellow turmeric stains from White quartz worktops

Lovinmyblanket · 20/01/2023 17:25

I've asked my ten year old and he has confirmed he didn't know any of this.
He's now a bit worried about bears though.

If you're stranded in the Arctic and have to kill a polar bear for food, DON'T eat it's liver - at times it can contain so much Vitamin A that it could kill you.

Damn. If only I'd read this thread before I ate that polar bear...☹️

Oh well, might as well leave my top tip - pink sponge is brilliant at removing stains and afterwards you can use it in a trifle 👍

onepieceoflollipop · 20/01/2023 17:29

Not every time, but occasionally put half a dishwasher tab in the dishwasher instead of a whole one (mainly I use a whole one but you don’t need to all the time)

white spirit or meths will clean off hairspray (on mirrors etc), or residue from price labels.

It saves a lot of time if you always make double the amount of food. Works for most things including packed lunch sandwiches.

change pillowcases more regularly than bed sheets as they get sweaty more quickly.

buy double length toilet rolls - used to be only Cushelle (or very cheap smartprice ones available) but Asda and Sainsbury's now do decent ones.

if your teenagers have their own bathroom make a point of using it yourself (clean the bath/shower first) then help yourself to any luxury bubble baths, conditioner etc. this is payback for them stealing yours!

If you're prone to 'stuffing' your suitcases, once you get everything packed in nice and neat, take a picture of your open suitcase so you'll be able to pack things back in the same arrangement for your return trip. Packing cubes are great for this.

I always got things nice and 'tetris-ized' for an easy 'zip up' for 'outbound' but when it came to packing to go back home I could never get things back in the right order and ended up having to sit on my case and/or force the zip closed.

I also got a 'rip stop' nylon backpack that folded up flat in my suitcase in case I'm returning with more than I left with (not uncommon) and used it as one of my 'personal items'. I'd pack 'excess' clothing in it so it wasn't heavy nor 'fragile' and just stuff it in the overhead.

Sign up to jet 2 before you want to book. You can get £60 off vouchers. They do have an expiry date though.
You can also ask if they have any vouchers before you leave the flight.

Never try to wash your hands in a bison. They don't like it😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Best advice yet!!!

WonderingWanda · 20/01/2023 17:36

If you are going to the Arctic take plenty of food so that you don't have to kill any polar bears!

TheRedLip · 20/01/2023 17:36

My self defence instructor told our group that if you are grabbed by a bloke do any or all of the following.

  1. Pee yourself.
  2. Pick your nose and eat it.
  3. Spit.
Basically anything that might hopefully cause revulsion. Also never scream for help, instead scream FIRE as it's much more likely to attract people. If you are able to grab your attackers testicles you must twist them, it's far more painful than squeezing. Finally it's unlikely you're going to be physically stronger than your attacker, but the human jaw has more bite per pounds pressure than most dogs. So bite lumps out of them if you can, especially their face and throat.

Same applies if attacked by a bear...

Save money on expensive binoculars by simply moving nearer to what you want to look at

Strawberrypicnic · 20/01/2023 17:42

If you have a bra or other small item that needs handwashing, take it into the shower and wash it while you're in there. Shampoo works well in lieu of laundry detergent.

That's the one that going in my top tips book!!

Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Simply stand nearer to the thing you wish to view.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 20/01/2023 17:45

Those mesh bags designed for fruit and veg at the supermarket work great for keeping delicates ( bras, tights, lace items etc)protected in the washing machine and are cheaper than specific delicates bags. They're also great for putting toddler socks in for washing so you never end up with stray tiny socks!

Mysterian · 20/01/2023 17:46

Rub a little Vaseline around the rubber seal in your car door to stop it freezing shut.

Spray hairspray onto the collar of blouses/shirts about 20 minutes before putting on. It forms a barrier and prevents makeup stains .

Also disperses static.

'these are small, but the ones out there are far away.' If you're a Father Ted fan you'll know......

bio washing powder or liquid cleans up any skulls you might want to preserve.

Mealworms would do the trick too, they'll eat anything.

A robin will sell its soul for live mealworms and will soon be approaching you for them.

Another tip for cleaning up skulls - bury it for eight months and when you dig it up, it will just the soil rinsing off.
