The anti-trans posters on this thread are calling trans women men. You can see that, right?

But these people still exist, whether you call them men or women. Nobody is denying that anybody exists. It's a ridiculous thing to say.

When you say that trans women are men, then you say that trans women don't exist.

That’s not true. Men exist. But they are not women. That’s just a fact.

NowDoYouBelieveMe · 19/01/2023 21:50

No I'm pretty sure they're just horrified at the anti-trans posters on here who want to deny their right to exist.

It's the one thing that really, really sucks about Mumsnet.

Disagreeing with a statement someone makes about themselves is not the same as denying they exist. This hyperbole does not help TRA’s at all, it makes them look hysterical. Is my husband denying that I exist if he doesn’t agree that at 5ft 4in I am infact extremely tall?

No. They exist. And are as much a threat to women and girls as any other men.

It's why so many miraculously identify as women on arrest and revert back once they are released from jail.

Keep up love. These are 2016 arguments.

You say that trans women don't exist.

So you're denying their existence.

It shouldn't be this hard to comprehend. If you don't understand what you're saying, you should be worried.

'No I'm pretty sure they're just horrified at the anti-trans posters on here who want to deny their right to exist.'

Well that's misgendering if that person has had gender realignment, but not really the same as denying someone their right to exist which is just hyperbole and doesn't really do anyone any favours.

LikeTearsInRain · 19/01/2023 22:17

Haha good on them. Freedom of speech and all that.

Politics can be debated anywhere.

AlisonDonut · 19/01/2023 22:17

I don't think an apple is a pear (one floats, one sinks) but both exist.

Given the context of the protest, it looks like they're referring to the deeply anti-trans side of Mumsnet. I think you know that too, so your aibu is pretty disingenuous.

They're not saying "keep politics off Mumsnet" anyway - it's "keep Mumsnetters' anti-trans beliefs out of political policymaking".

The context of the protest seemed to have included telling Kier Starmer to "eat shit":

I didn't. I called them male trans people, which they are. Male that is.

I also think it is an issue to state women can't call transwomen men when talking about laws and sex segregation that is clearly defined in the two sex classes: man and woman. How can you defend sex segregation in law if you can't segregate on sex?

Keep up with what exactly?

Not one human has ever changed sex. Our sex is coded in every molecule.

WestwardHo1 · 19/01/2023 22:21

The reason this placard holder picked on Mumsnet is because this is the only public sphere where we women can discuss our legitimate concerns without being hounded and shouted down. This is an affront to them.

And I applaud MNHQ's courage in not usually allowing themselves to be intimidated, so it can continue

Cherryana · 19/01/2023 22:23

That we exist show that for thousands of years people groups and those in the animal kingdom, who don’t use words, have seemed to understand male and female quite well.

Not sure this present viewpoint that anyone can be anything they say they are, will make the point of view that male and female exist and are equal but different, will put anyone on the wrong side of history.

Blatant sealioning. Go look for it yourself.

I have looked - I've not seen any. Which is why I asked for people to show me examples they had seen. Surely people who say the place is full of it will be able to point some of it out.

When you say that trans women are men, then you say that trans women don't exist.

(a) I have not made any such claim on this thread. (b) Your hyperbole makes no sense. Of course there are people who claim a gender identity which is different from the one associated with their biological sex. They have decided to call themselves trans. Their biological sex is unaffected by this, ergo those who are male remain adult or juvenile human males, i.e. men or boys.

sanluca · 19/01/2023 22:24

You're on the wrong side of history. It's you that needs to keep up.

I can never figure out why wanting womens sports to be for female humans or prisons segregated by sex, especially when it comes to male rapists, is 'the wrong side of history'?

How is locking up women with male rapists the 'right side of history'?

Quite aside from the impossibility of that - someone exists and that’s immutable - but I’ve never seen anyone “deny rights to exist”. I suspect what you mean is, “They won’t blindly affirm, they insist on biological reality and they they won’t let one set of people’s desire for special treatment trample over another groups’s rights and safeties.”

Calling a tantrum over not hearing what you want to hear, and not being pandered to “denying the right to exist” is just nonsense.
