Deny their right to exist? Can I suggest you really really read FWR. It is not a debate on their right to exist, it is a debate if womens services, sports and facilities such as prisons are segregated from mens based on people's gender feelings or based on their biological sex.

It could all be resolved if male trans people would just be respectful and stay out of those things meant for female women. Especially the ones that do not even have gender dypshoria and medically transition. Which is about 95% of all male trans people...

95% ... Where'd you get that from?

Throckmorton · 19/01/2023 22:02

Can anyone quote an anti-trans post they've seen on here that has not been removed when reported? What I've seen is lots of people talking about women's right to single-sex spaces.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/01/2023 22:04

I believe it may come from a survey carried out some years ago by the trans rights campaigning group Gendered Intelligence. They asked respondents to say what medical treatment they had had, and what they intended/hoped to have in the future. The great majority of transwomen who were surveyed had not had genital surgery and didn't expect to. Good thing too, given how poor the outcomes are, but on the other hand, this means that their desire to use female-only spaces is extremely problematic for many women.

Oblomov22 · 19/01/2023 22:04

I'm kind of glad to see such a sign. How insulting to MN. Do they not realise how intelligent, educated and politically aware we are? What twats.

sanluca · 19/01/2023 22:04

Number of genital surgery performed and estimation of male trans people.

Couple of reasons it is so low: it is high risk surgery with often hefty complications, especially if the male person has been on blockers since a child, it is expensive and male trans people who don't have gender dypshoria actually love their lady penis.

This is the group this law proposal is for: the ones who are not part of the old group of transsexuals, but the new group of 'self identifying as'

I’m anti no platforming people. Sure way to entrench people’s opinions and move them to the right. I couldn’t care less about anyone’s sexual preferences or how they wish to present to the world. My issue is the shutting down of debate and I will continue to defend the right to be offended and carry on anyway.

Holding a placard is not no-platforming anyone. It's an expression of opinion, part of the debate you say you support.

I can see the Tories trying to hoover up women's votes because they think we're all anti-trans like the posters on the MN feminism board, many of whom state they won't vote Labour if Labour insist on recognising trans people actually exist.

CuntyChopss · 19/01/2023 22:06

In 2016, a meta-analysis of 27 studies estimated a rate of approx 10 per 100,000 of the population (0.01%) have a transgender diagnosis and/or surgical or hormonal treatment. In contrast 355 per 100,000 of the population(0.35%) self-identity as transgender. This means only 2.8% of the transgender community is undergoing any gender-affirming treatment with the vast majority 97.2% simply self-identity with no modifications to their sexed body whatsoever.

I am on several other forums that have strict rules around the discussion and as a result there isn't the combative undertone that MN has.

I've seen it time and time again, they (tetfs) just refuse to engage in a rational manner. It's all nitpicking and imaginary slights.... Exhausting really.

Do we? Go get onto the feminist section and explain to us why rapists in women's prisons is a rational policy then.

Or why removing the breasts of teenage girls is stunning and brave.

Come and put your money where your mouth is.

MeinKraft · 19/01/2023 22:07

Loads of men despise mumsnet. They hate the fact that there's a place for women to talk about feminism and politics, they don't want us to voice our opinions freely. Might as well write 'keep women out of politics' on their poster because there's nothing you tick when you sign up to mumsnet saying you align yourself with certain values or political views. We're just normal women.

95% ... Where'd you get that from?

I do read it and it makes me sick how bigoted posters on there are. I bet most have never even met a trans person (that they know of) and the blind hatred is repellent.

RudsyFarmer · 19/01/2023 22:08

It would be over my cold, rotting corpse that I’d ever vote Labour. I’d prefer to drag my decaying, limbless torso to the ballot box just to spoil the paper.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 19/01/2023 22:08

I'm not agreeing with the sentiment, but 'Keep Mumsnet Out of Politics' doesn't mean the same as 'Keep Politics Out of Mumsnet'.

NowDoYouBelieveMe · 19/01/2023 21:50

No I'm pretty sure they're just horrified at the anti-trans posters on here who want to deny their right to exist.

It's the one thing that really, really sucks about Mumsnet.

The usual ludicrous hyperbole. What does this even mean? Are you suggesting that women who want to retain single-sex refuges, prisons, sports etc, and to keep children and other vulnerable people safe from harm, are also in favour of violence against people with a trans identity? Because that would be off the scale conspiracy theory level nonsense.

MeinKraft · 19/01/2023 22:09

'No I'm pretty sure they're just horrified at the anti-trans posters on here who want to deny their right to exist.'

You'll have to explain this to me. How is anyone denying their right to exist?

It isn't hatred of trans people.

It's the whole slicing off teens breasts and rapists in prisons issue. You know, issues that only women have. The old fashioned women.

It’s because of how intelligent, educated and politically aware we are imo.

Jeer, shout louder, cancel, name call, threaten- is the language of the ‘attack to defend’ school of politics.

The anti-trans posters on this thread are calling trans women men. You can see that, right?

Yes. Not a hive mind, either. Nobody but an idiot would say something like 'Keep Twitter out of politics'. The only thing Mumsnet users have in common is being Mumsnet users. We're not all female or parents, we're a mixed bag when it comes to ages, ethnicities, jobs, income levels, backgrounds, nationalities, religions, political leanings, interests, views on all kinds of issues.

That automatically gets labelled anti-trans by a certain kind of person in my experience.

When you say that trans women are men, then you say that trans women don't exist.

SueVineer · 19/01/2023 22:14

Yes it does. Utter misogyny to say that mums should not discuss politics. But not surprising in context
