Furries in IKEA

Am I the only one who thinks this isn’t appropriate? Surely it’s no more appropriate to be naked in public than to walk around dresses up for a sex game? Do IKEA have a responsibility to safeguard their young guests?

I was particularly taken aback by this paragraph ;
‘Although many think it is a sexual fetish more often than not dressing up like animals is a fun escape for a community of people who enjoy expressing themselves in this way.’
is this true? I’ve never heard of this being done in a non sexual manner

Thank you for sharing this, now that you've provided a definition of what the IKEA guys are up to, complete with reputable source, let's see ELO come out from behind their "define your terms" bunker. Will they defend the public enactment of a paraphilic disorder? Probably will just ask us to define "disorder" but one can always hope...

Not too off arguing it's simply another orientation thus would be just another case of fuddy duddies not accepting rhe wonderful diversity of human flavours

Yiffing?

If you don't already know, don't look it up on urban dictionary. Absolutely do not follow this link: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=yiffing

😂

Not weird at all.

nilsmousehammer · 16/01/2023 19:11

There seem to be some here with a fundamental misunderstanding of consent in kink and fetish terms, and they may wish to read around or talk to someone who works in a reputable BDSM club or organisation to understand this.

If you walk into a public space in your gear, you are involving whoever happens to be there in you fetish or kink.

They have not consented.

This is inappropriate, and not behaviour that is approved of or welcomed in responsible groups. Because other people are seen to matter, and their consent is seen to matter.

DesertIslandCondiment · 16/01/2023 19:15

I'm quite happy with my fantasies being about Keanu Reeves rather than Scooby Doo.

You're saying you can orgasm without needing a buttplug, two kilos of orange faux fur, and an unwilling audience?

You must be a bunch of vanilla prudes then.

Again, you’re struggling with reading the words that are in front of you.

Quote: If you can actually truly look like you’re just sitting there when you’re actually having sex, you must be something blander than vanilla 😂

If you have sex without making any physical movement, then your sex life must be boring af. I think it’s probably completely non existent though let’s be honest 😉

I called you vanilla because you reckon people can have sex without moving. Because to me that sounds not only boring, but also weird af. Almost as weird as dressing up as a dog and being walked on a lead.

People can have a good sex life without needing to dress up as a fox, Pothole 😉

YES!

Indeed, creep creep with the acceptance of men's sexual rights, including fetishes involving children into the mainstream.

Which class of people benefit, it's pretty bloody obvious it's not the children.

So this doesn't float your boat?

If these terms are brand-new information to any of the adults here, I invite you to consider that I was being introduced to them online, on social media aimed at teenagers, as a teen myself. If your current teenager has a fursona, or knows what fursonas are, they also know what "yiff" means, and have been exposed to "yiff art".

We have reached a point where we are all expected to accept people (men) parading their sexual fetishes in plain sight, in front of children and we act as their unwilling participants. It is beyond disgusting.

This

Being Scottish we now have Sturgeon to thank for this.

You're completely right!

Sometimes people dress up as cats, wolves and dogs.

😂 Because she’s sexually frustrated and gunning for an argument 😆

Yeah, gagging for it obviously. A good seeing too will sort her out.

Amirite?

The good news is that all of them seem happy for me to engage in that in public. Smile They literally don't even care if I frighten the horses; their only concern so far is whether I might not have it vigorously enough to be satisfied.

It's so nice to have my sexual needs centred like this. Is this what it's like being a man? Grin

Is there a link between MNetters concerned about:

kink and fetish in public places
pup players involving kids in their play in public
inappropriate behaviour from males involved in men in drag want to spend an hour with your children time
males who wish to enter female spaces against female consent and with the knowledge that this destroys female privacy, dignity and safety
organisations who wish to normalise sexual content being used with children

?

Why yes.

Yes there is.

Because all those things are linked, and are about breaking down safeguarding boundaries that protect women and children and establishing that it is fully acceptable to involve non consenting others in personal sexual gratification by using them and their bodies.

The desire to do these things are not normal or acceptable. And to do these things are open gateways to offending, whether or not the person chooses at the time to walk through the gateway.

Women and children are not props in the lives of more important others. This would be a highly important topic of conversation on a women's rights board. (What is less normal is people spending a lot of time and energy on a women's rights board telling women that to want such rights is inappropriate/old/saggy titted/rightwingchristianbigotedheteronormativeclownfishburble/yada yada. Unless of course this is also about using women to provide desired experiences).

Absolutely agree with you nilsmousehammer

Yeah, this is extremely grim. Also just another example of how even supposedly radical and inclusive subcultures can't help but fall back into misogynistic tropes. These guys will tell you it's "just" mixing what they like about animals with what they like about humans. But the "community" is disproportionately male and I'll give you 3 guessed about what it is they like about women. Hint, it's not their faces. In essence it's a way to (literally) dehumanise women by reducing them to their tits, arse and hips. They then draw animal heads on them so that they don't have to think about these bodies as equals, as human, as worthy of respect and worth of experiencing sexual gratification themselves.

I don't think that all so called furries are into this. I get for lots it's an escape and they like the art etc. But it's undeniably an undercurrent, and again we should ask who benefits from grooming vulnerable youth into this type of sexual activity.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 16/01/2023 19:46

Although, why do we worry about "frightening the horses"? To quote a thread on reddit, entitled Is it racist to dislike horse furries?

I've been in the fandom for a few years now had a great time chatting, rp, ect ... But I've always found horse furs brash, rude and usually only thinking about their huge you-know-whats. If I meet a horse fur no a chat room I usually stay away and try not to interact. Is this wrong? How do others see different species? Should I give them another go or is that the usual?

They're rather bold creatures, it seems.

If anyone doesn't know what a horse is, please consult wikifur, the free encyclopedia written for and by furries: en.wikifur.com/wiki/Horse.

pattihews · 16/01/2023 19:57

I haven't been able to read all the posts, but a few years ago there was a tent at a small Pride which was manned by Pups and included children. There are a couple of photos on this thread. They were encouraging other children to join them.

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/3619623-pup-play-fans-dance-for-children-at-pride

Pup play is totally a fetish. There's a pup play group where the pups are walked on their hands and knees through central London. It's a bout exhibitionism and humiliation.

For those saying 'What's the problem?', if children first see pups in the safe and friendly surroundings of Ikea and mum and dad don't react, when they next meet men in leather masks and harnesses and studs, with their tails attached to butt plugs, they're going to assume it's all quite normal. And who would want kids to think that's normal?

Will clicking on these links stop me from sleeping at night? I was trying to be fair to furries by pointing out that they are not the same thing as the folk in the original link, now wondering if there is a way darker side to this than I realised.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 16/01/2023 20:03

en.wikifur.com/wiki/Horse

That link didn't work, because of the full stop.

I would advise all those who are new to the furry community to read through this and zero in on the references to furries, fursonas/'sonas, and roleplay. grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/ashton-challenor-the-boy-who-disappeared

I've already posted on this thread about my recollections of being a teenager on the internet, and how, in retrospect, older men signed up to youth-targeted social media solely to educate us chat to us about niche sexual activities. This is still going on, only now these men are targeting current teens. That is, your kids.

BelperLawnmower · 16/01/2023 20:04

And we don’t need to explain that to Elf man, East London man or anyone else that wants to mansplain or be a handmaiden to this nonsense. It’s wrong, it’s absolutely fucking wrong and no one else will tell me otherwise.

Alleluia! This is true, but equally (and thankfully) the dog men don't need to justify to you how they dress, any more than anyone else.

I honestly can't say.

I have a very strong stomach for online sexual content due to over-exposure in my formative teen years, and I recently realised on another thread about "diaper-fetishes" that I often feel too little disgust. Too much time trying to consciously cultivate an attitude of Acceptance towards people's sexual behaviour in public.

nilsmousehammer · 16/01/2023 20:09

They do however need to justify involving non consenting bystanders in their sexual experience by intentionally walking in such dress into a public place.

That is using anyone who happens to be there in a way that would get you asked to leave a reputable fetish club for dickish behaviour.
