Furries in IKEA

Am I the only one who thinks this isn’t appropriate? Surely it’s no more appropriate to be naked in public than to walk around dresses up for a sex game? Do IKEA have a responsibility to safeguard their young guests?

I was particularly taken aback by this paragraph ;
‘Although many think it is a sexual fetish more often than not dressing up like animals is a fun escape for a community of people who enjoy expressing themselves in this way.’
is this true? I’ve never heard of this being done in a non sexual manner

@DarkShade

now wondering if there is a way darker side to this than I realised.

I think we can safely say that there is a dark side to everything. That's Humans.

Some people on this thread, although they might not be ‘furries’ themselves or even agree with/accept this strange fetish, have allowed themselves far too much exposure online to this weirdness, and it shows. This is a very niche fetish, and your constant online ‘research’ has coloured your thinking that this is common and that even the people who disagree with you in any way or over anything must be a furry themselves. The chances are that no one on this thread is a furry, or one or two at the very most. Someone certainly seems to know an awful lot about this fetish and they’re used lingo to say they don’t partake in it themselves!

Well said.

Weird hobby going on a parenting forum and championing men's sex rights.

Of course we can't know their motives ...

But it you can’t articulate why it’s wrong and what you would do to enforce your preferred behaviour, then all you’re going to do is rant helplessly.

“Gut feel” luckily isn’t what the legal system is based on.

It wasn't research, dear heart. I just clicked the links when other members of the teen forums made threads. Grin Just as you clicked on this thread on this parenting site.

During my first few years on this site, I mostly learned about PAYE tax bands, the evils of moon sand, and the going rate for au pairs through the same mechanism. But on there it was emo bands, weird sexual predelictions, and exam revision.

Desperate stuff in lieu of any meaningful point.

This niche fetish has absolutely no place being performed in front of children in a furniture store.

It is bad enough that drag queen story time is being normalised, but at least the adults in charge of the children have some say in what their children are exposed to.

But no one shopping in a store, least of all a child, should have to partake in another persons very niche fetish.

WTF is moon sand?

WTF is moon sand?

I can confirm it's evil.

It's a product that is sand but it sticks and keeps shape. The bastard stuff gets everywhere wehavekids.com/parenting/What-Is-Moon-Sand-Ingredients-How-Made-Uses-For-Kids.

Up there with bunchems in the evil products that are sold to kids.

So, can you articulate the definition of ‘consent’ and ‘non consent’?

OMG moon sand 😱😱😱

Practically the only thing we ever got and then got rid of ASAP

Those cunning adverts that made it look like such fun!

The dreadful reality of bits of moon sand all over your entire home

Evil indeed

Amazing how you forget - and then it all comes back to you with just one mention!!

Right. So, how do you tell that someone has given permission for something to happen to them? (That was the upthread definition).

Flowersandtattoos · 16/01/2023 21:25

They aren't furries - that is pup-play, something totally different. Not that furries are not disgusting at times, but this is something else. They are fully dressed. Not really anyone's business, is it?

I think in the context of consent to sex it would have to involve positive permission to sexual physical contact or sexual nudity.

Hiya, when you say "it's no ones business" do you mean because they're fully clothed it's acceptable? I'm not being goady just asking. Tbh I don't think it's all that appropriate to cut about any shop in a dog mask with a tail hanging out unless it's halloween or a kink party. But again that's my opinion, doesn't make me right and anyone else wrong.....but then I've a phobia of masks so this would really scare the shit out of me.

How far does that go in front of kids though?
Gimp mask?
Ball gag?
The men in the pic but crawling on the floor instead of walking?
How about fully dressed but visible erection through clothes?
What's your line?
When does it become someone's business?

Interesting to see the word “kink” crop up
here. Can’t say I’ve heard it used much at all in the past 25 years. It is reminiscent of 50s morality and the equating of anything other than vanilla sex as some sort of mental illness. Thankfully most have moved on.^

Quite, posters object to the stuck in the 1950’s comments but do nothing but confirm that view every time they post.

Although this is just one in a long list of things MNers think is a kink, last year there was an anal thread that got very heated. And anal is pretty ‘normal’ for many, especially younger people.

I get the impression you both think you know a lot about sex. I doubt it. It sounds as though you only know various machinations of sex and porn while sex is rather redundant for you and so empty it always needs some ramping up.

You sound rather ignorant about the ‘50s as you do about sex.
Most people here would have either not been born then or been children though. That leaves some young in the ‘60s. Do you know anything about the 60s and ‘70s? It doesn’t sound as though you do.

I wouldn't say it's 'wrong' for you to have this weird hobby of championing men's sex rights on a female dominated parenting forum.

It's just a weird hobby and tbh it comes across as a bit creepy. I mean, championing boundary-violating dodgy fetishes is one thing, championing them to an audience of mostly mothers is a whole other level.

It's very informative though, there is that ...

They're wearing gimp masks in a family restaurant in the middle of the day.

Flowersandtattoos · 16/01/2023 22:06

If someone is fully clothed and not participating in sexual acts in public, it is absolutely not anyone's else's business in my opinion. Gimp mask, ball gag...I wouldn't do it, but it is none of my business how someone else is dressing. These men are doing no harm. Not my thing, but what actual harm are they doing?

Wearing a gimp mask or a ball gag is a sexual act.

Flowersandtattoos · 16/01/2023 22:10

"A bit creepy" and 'strange' is not enough to ban people from a certain way of dressing. It becomes someone else's business when they are naked, showing genitals or indulging in public sexual acts. The entire world does not revolve around not offending the sensitive and parochial parts of the community.
