Furries in IKEA

Am I the only one who thinks this isn’t appropriate? Surely it’s no more appropriate to be naked in public than to walk around dresses up for a sex game? Do IKEA have a responsibility to safeguard their young guests?

I was particularly taken aback by this paragraph ;
‘Although many think it is a sexual fetish more often than not dressing up like animals is a fun escape for a community of people who enjoy expressing themselves in this way.’
is this true? I’ve never heard of this being done in a non sexual manner

It’s quite fun how anyone who isn’t morally stuck in the 1950s is described as “cool” by some on MN.

Sneering at women for being 'morally stuck in the 1950s'.

Truckinghell · 16/01/2023 14:14

I don't think you're cool, but I do think you're men.

So what if it was a mental illness?

All these what ifs are a bit weird, it matters just as little that it was a mental health issue as it does if it was a sexual kink.

Tbh I agree this was likely to be sexually based, as those dog masks are quite gimpy, but it doesn’t mean it’s not allowed in public. Just like I could go to my local co-op wearing a gimp mask, or even light bandage gear as long as my bits were covered.

You'd look a twat though.

"Exactly. How do you explain this to a child as well. Why are those grown adults dressed and acting like dogs mummy?"

"They're just being silly and having fun"

You don't need to explain the whole background of furries to kids!

ArabellaScott · 16/01/2023 14:14

Seems posters have abandoned attempts to rationalise involving children in sexual activity and are now just onto random slurs, jeers, and sneers.

It follows a well worn path.

DesertIslandCondiment · 16/01/2023 14:12

They are wearing dog gimp masks.

Who in their right mind would decide it was appropriate to parade around Ikea in a dog gimp mask?

Two people on the video clearly thought it was appropriate to do just that.

And they’re more than entitled to do that.

This is the issue with these posts on the most part, getting caught up over people doing something they’re entitled to do but you don’t like it is a pointless exercise.

If it bothers you that much campaign to bring in laws to crack down on what people think and wear.

Kucinghitam · 16/01/2023 14:15

Educational take-home message for MNers: If you object to non-consenting victims being used for sexual thrills, you're not only a pearl-clutching hysterical prude, but have morals stuck in past centuries. This is because modern progressive morality prioritises access to sexual thrills (for actual proper people).

You do want to be modern and progressive, don't you?

“Nonce enabler”. Lolz.

sounds like something off “Brasseye”

Of course, as do the dog men.

But looking like a twat isn’t really anyone else’s concern.

It's not like they were in full fetish gear, they were wearing hoodies and jeans, with a dog mask and tail. I'm not exactly sure why children need protected from it.

It is part of ideological indoctrination for children into Queer theory which thinks all boundaries and categories are artificial and to be done away with.

Why are you drawing a line around covering your bits? If it's fine to wear a gimp mask, why not also expose your bits?

Of course if can be a first step, knowing this doesn’t really do anything though.

As you can’t legislate on what people might do.

You also can’t treat everyone in a group as a pervert because some will turn out to be just that.

As you can’t legislate on what people might do

Are we sure about this?

If you murder here is what will happen....If you steal here is what will happen,,,,,and so on.

hickorydickorysock · 16/01/2023 14:16

@ElfandSafety101 this is my point, I wouldn't mind if it was mental health related. I mean if it was, then I would hope that someone was looking out for these people as any unusual behaviour in public is usually a sign of something isn't it, whether that just be attention seeking.

And your right, it's not that it's not allowed in public as such. There's no rule book with a billion pages of how people should behave. But it's bizarre and should be done privately in my opinion

Victims?

Christ, you need some therapy.

Sandra1984 · 16/01/2023 14:17

@DarkShade The guys in the dog costume are the ones who find it sexual. They are wearing it for sexual purposes.

So how do we differentiate a guy in a furry costume getting his sex joli es from a guy in a furry costume coming back from a party or just having grand ol time? Should I ask the next time I see a guy in a furry if he’s doing it for sexual kicks? What if he gets offended or thinks I’m a perv?

JusteanBiscuits · 16/01/2023 14:18

What is the answer then? Do we legislate against costumes in public?

ElfandSafety101 · 16/01/2023 14:18

Goodness me the understanding is poor in this one.

You can’t arrest someone because one day they might do something bad.

Theft is often a starter crime for sexual assault, doesn’t mean you can arrest or sentence all those convicted of theft as if they’re actually a rapist.

I don’t think there’s anything especially modern or “queer” about BDSM.

Back in the 18th century the English were famed around Europe for their liking of it.

No, they knew it was inappropriate and that's why they did it. They are not 'entitled' to expose others to their sexual fetish - where on earth have you got this idea from?!

HRTQueen · 16/01/2023 14:18

Why would someone returning from a dressing up party be on a lead in IKEA

I guess many of us a Kink Shamming boohoo now mean we are

Lockheart · 16/01/2023 07:40

Those aren't furries, it's some sort of pet play. It's a different thing. Still not appropriate for IKEA.

You seem to know lots about the subject……..😖

Because one is a crime, the other is not.

Are you actually not aware of the difference?
