Excuse the daily mail link but I am absolutely raging at this

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11432097/Woman-wearing-suffragette-scarf-kicked-Scottish-parliament-gender-debate.html

ps MNHQ - tucking away discussion into its own wee sub forum doesn’t make you any better

Well gender critical people believe that SEX matters in law to protect the rights of women.

It's a women's rights movement.

The suffragette colours are entirely appropriate.

The only people who would disagree are the ones who don't believe women should have rights, so....

Well, the BNP probably believe they are fighting for the rights of Britons.

The suffragettes (and suffragists) were heroes who fought for the democratic liberation of over half of the country.

The gender critical movement seem more concerned with what bathroom a tiny handful of people they deem to have the wrong gentials use. I don't believe they are fighting for my (a woman's) rights in any meaningful way, and I am disgusted that they are besmirching the symbol of women's liberation.

Chersfrozenface · 16/11/2022 10:45

I bought the Ministry of Tartan scarf last year.

Can't find an umbrella in suffragette colours though. Gap in the marker.

that’s nice dear. I’m sure the gendercritical movement (whoever they may be) are so moved by your words they’ll change their ways and pop off to centre men. Did you know some women actually fought against the suffragettes too. So well done on keeping up the old traditions 😀

AutumnCrow · 16/11/2022 10:53

gender critical movement

I'm not in that. Do you have to sign up to it, and pay subs, and get a membership card and number, like 'the Labour movement'?

It is so much more than that. It's about women's rights as a whole, everywhere, in every country

There’s a test and everything…. Apparently….

I have the Suffragette tartan scarf linked to up thread, it's lovely.

I like the look of the Suffragette tartan wrap that they still do have in stock. I might save up for that, for my tired old crone bones.

So you are happy with minors being given irreversible medical treatment based on feelings?
You are happy that fully intact biological male sex offenders have been locked up in prison with women?
You are fine with the fact the Scottish Parliament voted against stopping sex offenders abusing the GRC process?
You are fine with raped women wanting single sex treatment being told to reframe their trauma?
You are ok with Lesbians being told they are transphobic if the don’t want to have sex with someone who has a penis?
You are ok that some Muslim and Jewish women won’t be able to fully access women’s services if a biological male is present?

Still think you are on the right side of history?

lifeturnsonadime · 16/11/2022 11:13

As others have said there is no 'gender critical movement' , just women aghast at the wholesale removal of our rights and aghast at the irreversible harm being done to children in the name of trans rights.

TRAs always make it about bathrooms in an attempt to minimise.

It's so predictable.

This person in this video protesting against women at a 'Let Women Speak' rally is one of the tiny handful who you are fighting to share a bathroom with? And we are not supposed to be concerned about this?

Am RAGING too. What on earth more do men and their accomplices need to show us for women to absolutely flip.

A woman has been chucked out of parliament for wearing suffragette colours. Scream it from the rooftops.

AutumnCrow · 16/11/2022 11:23

It's always the same when women and the media talk about

Mutilation
Detransition
Legal cases
Minimising CSA
Women's sports
Women's prisons
Women's services
Dignity in health and personal care
Children and safeguarding

I love this. I might ask for the wrap for Christmas.

WandaWomblesaurus · 16/11/2022 11:28

YANBU
I'm raging at this given the mass rainbowsplaining and lanyard wearing and rainbow shoelaces and pronoun badges that we have to endure from biological denialists.
Yesterday they voted at Scottish HQ to allow RAPISTS to change their sex in prisons.

The scum who voted in agreement with that should be scrutinised very very heavily.

Suffragette scarves for every women who disagrees with this absolute insanity.

Personally I'm bothered about children having unwarranted procedures and or taking drugs that will make them infertile, womens rape centres run by men, women already prison as a punishment, then being forced to cosy up to men , potential of rape very high and no one seems to give a shit and sports where we will completely lose out on any chance whatsoever to excel as mens gender identity takes over, but you keep on trying to tell us its toilets love.

TheOrigRights · 16/11/2022 11:30

My friend got me this Tatty Devine necklace a few years ago.
I love it.

Seems to be out of stock at AHF store, but there are these:
www.redbubble.com/shop/suffragette+scarves

I would only give money to womens sites that help women directly so maybe check which ones do first x

Happylittlechicken · 16/11/2022 11:31

I don’t know whether to be amused or aghast that women fighting for their rights have been downgraded from Nazis to the BNP. Maybe we’re getting through to them. Soon they’ll be agreeing with us. Off to buy a scarf.

I bought the wrap last year. It's absolutely lovely! So soft and warm.

Brefugee · 16/11/2022 11:35

It's giving a list of papers who are all reporting the same story

do you not understand the purpose of an internet forum?
Best case for me? as many people as possible buy the official tartan ones and see how many get told the colours are provocative

CSloos · 16/11/2022 11:36

The scarf is back in stock on the AHF website. It’s cotton I believe which is good for those of us that don’t wear wool.

WandaWomblesaurus · 16/11/2022 11:42

rbe78 · 16/11/2022 10:00

Hang on a minute - has the 'gender critical' movement hijacked the suffragette colours?!

That is outrageous, worse than the BNP making the Union Jack synonymous with their movement.

Oh put a sock in it.
You agree that rapists should be able to change sex in prison to be in with females?
You agree with vulnerable children being chemically interfered with and told they are born in the wrong bodies?
Ridiculous.

How about put a scarf in it! 😂
The suffragettes we ALL about our rights and freedoms, of course it is only right that it is used to highlight our plight now, which incidentally is even worse than it was then! At least in the olden days everyone knew what a woman was and what sex she had, even if she had no voice.
Now we won't even have that if the trans lobbies get their way.

I wouldn't mind, but most of my trans friends do not support this erasure at all. Stonewall is packed full of militant women haters and it has nothing at all to do with protecting trans people. It stopped representing them years ago. This is all about erasure now.
