I'll start.
I've told no one this but my partner. I'm 24 and think Snt Nicholas/santa is real. Why? Because I distinctly remember hearing him. I was at my family members house and it was Christmas eve. I don't know why but my eyes shot open and it must of been around 2am. I could hear the soft chime of bells and it got louder and louder until it was audibly clear what it was. Then I heard a bang on the roof and I kid you not hooves! Loads of hooves and bells. The odd thing was that I wasn't excited as you would expect to be seeing Santa. I suddenly became paralyzed with this weird sense of fear.

I remember hiding in my bed and pulling the blanket over my eyes. I thought if I pretended to sleep he would go away. I then heard heavy sounds of footsteps around the house and a man's voice grunting. After what seemed like forever the noises of the man stopped and the hooves took off. After I was sure the coast was clear I ran to my bedroom window to see if I could catch a glimpse but I saw nothing. That morning I didn't tell anyone but simply asked all my male family members if anyone had gotten up over night. They hadn't (all are quite elderly). I know what I experienced. My partner thinks it was a delusion or one of those realistic dreams. But the experience was so vivid and unusual that I know it was real. No one would believe me so I don't bother saying it!

Okay your turn

Asleep in bed in my late teens I woke up absolutely paralysed with fear as I felt an evil presence enter the house downstairs, move up the stairs, pause for a while by my bed then move on into my mum and stepfather's bedroom. It stood next to my mum's bed projecting evil towards her. It's really hard to describe in words but I have never experienced the heightened level of absolute terror I felt that night, before or since. I'm not in the least bit woo or even religious. A couple of months later my mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour which spread cancer everywhere. She died when I was just 18. I have always felt the two things were connected. This is the first time I've told anyone about this and I'm in my early 60s. I can still recall the experience vividly.

A few years ago I worked in a school a short drive from my home in Northumberland. I set off super early one morning and did my normal route on the edge of the moors, when a big cat of some description shot out in front of my car. It was darkish in colour but not black and absolutely no way was it a

One time I saw the moon and it was REALLY low in the sky. Really, really low.
It was only just over a building that my friend in the car with me and I both worked in. We worked shifts, so we saw that moon there at all times.

It was a really really low moon. It felt oddly sinister, like the world was about to end.

I’ve been sitting here so long reading this my leg has gone to sleep! Very intriguing. I do think a lot of things can be explained by sleep paralysis but I also think there are so many things we just can’t explain so I’m open minded.
Nothing woo but I saw a plane crash once when I was on holiday in Sardinia, and for some reason my BF at the time who hadn’t seen it didn’t believe me. It was a small plane for a couple of people or so and I was looking out of the window of our apartment backing onto farm land/fields and I saw it fly over and then nose dive into the trees and explode. No mobile phones or internet in those days to check and it was not near by. I often wondered whether I had in fact seen it or imagined it but I’m not sure why as it’s perfectly logical if awful thing to happen. I was so stunned I didn’t know what to do.

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 25/10/2022 17:36

@InsertSomethingMotivationalHere thats interesting and I do believe you saw something, I have been reading a book about black dog folklore and sightings which is similar, a huge black dog often appears at a time when someone needs protecting. They are often sighted in the same places, im not sure if it’s the power of suggestion as in there is a local legend or folklore or whether it’s actually real. Im fairly logical so I would say it’s suggestion but there’s always a small part of me that thinks what if

Sat drinking tea in mum and dad's new (to them) kitchen, in an ancient farmhouse on the side of a moor. It was moving in day, my dad and my DH were rinsing cups at the sink, me and mum sitting by the stove.
Suddenly startled me and mum turn abruptly to look at each other as we have both heard, quite clearly, the sound of 2 or 3 pairs of boots clumping up the stairs at speed. Except there aren't any stairs.

DH and dad heard nothing and were baffled. Nothing like it has happened to me before or since. Although I'd occasionally go to ring mum and find she was already on the line.

I once saw a bichon frisé dog walk a good ten yards on its front legs in the Jardins de Tuileries.

If you look on Youtube, this is a thing that some dogs do. You should be able to find multiple videos of dogs not only walking on the their front legs, but peeing behind them while they walk.

For example:-

StateOfTheUterus · 25/10/2022 17:52

When my next door neighbour was a little girl, her Dad used to reach out of the window with a long pole and ring bells outside her window. They kept the presents in the loft above the little girl’s bedroom and the little girl was always convinced she’d heard hooves as they made a bit of a racket getting things out the loft. Could this explain things OP?

I was at a cafe at the seaside when my eldest son was around 5,was with family as well my son wanted to use the toilet which was outside in a courtyard,as we came out of the. Toilet there was a lady standing there who said hello to me by name and smiled at my son ,she was very short and dressed in black she looked Greek ,I said hello then thought how does she know my name I turned around and she was gone. I've never forgotten it.

liverpoolgal82 · 25/10/2022 18:11

When I was four (51 now) we moved house - years later my parents said because it was haunted they left. My mum would wake covered in cuts and scratches. A old Victorian figure would come into one of bedrooms where the cot was (my mum would lie on the bed rocking the cot of my younger sibling) and the bed rose while this happened. My mum kept it to herself as she was afraid my dad would think she was going mad. It happened a good few times while she was rocking the cot. My uncle stayed over one night and got the fright of his life when it happened to him in that same room. When it happened to my uncle my dad then confessed it’d happened to him also when he’d been settling baby in cot but he didn’t want to scare my mum so hadn’t told her. They brought us up as non believers in ghosts and only told us this when we were adults (though my dad denied it happened to my mum for years afterwards - he says he didn’t want her to think it was real as many other things happened in the house and he didn’t want her scared) so they sold up and moved. They only told us when I said many years later as an adult that I remember that house as weird and I have strange feelings about it even now that something else was there.

Pancakestoday · 25/10/2022 18:13

No one believes me that I have extremely early and very vivid memories. Probably as young as 18 months old.

I can remember having my nappy changed, my mum used to make a game of it and I can remember giggling while she did it. It's quite detailed they were reusable nappies with a rubber on the outside and mum would put the used nappy into a bucket. I was out of nappies by 2. I can remember potty training too, the colour of the potty and being praised for using it.

I can remember being in a pushchair with the rain cover on, not the stroller type although I remember that too, but the younger one.

I remember building work that my dad carried out and the materials being delivered. I can remember walks we went on when I was in a stroller, eating crisps and walking by places that were only just being built.

There are loads more examples but they all happened when I was 3 and under. My parents don't believe that I could remember because I was so young, but they can't explain how I can tell them in such detail.

I also dream about places before I visit them. A few times I've visited a place I've never been before and it's exactly the same as somewhere I've dreamt about.

DanceForMeColin · 25/10/2022 18:24

@InsertSomethingMotivationalHere I saw a big cat in broad daylight about 50m in front of me. It was a black one though, about the size of a large dog. I don't tell people about it anymore as the ones I've told have been very sceptical. It ran in front of me on a bit of wasteland near a housing estate in a rural area known for big cat sightings.

I’ve seen this, it was about 20 years ago, I was a young teen and me and my mum were driving home and we saw the moon so low in the sky.
It was absolutely massive, so we could only see the top half of it, and it covered the whole horizon.
No one believes either of us when we say it, but at least we were together so we know we saw it. It was like something out of doctor who.

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 25/10/2022 18:32

@Pancakestoday i believe it is possible for very young children to remember things. Although not as detailed as your memories, I can remember being in my cot and hearing my mother talking downstairs, I remember the wallpaper and the room I was in, when I had said this up my mother she thought it was impossible I had any memories of being in that particular room as I was only there until I was 2 years old.

I saw the Merseyside goblins. I didn't know what they were until reading about them as an adI saw the Merseyside goblins. I didn't know what they were until reading about them as an adult.

What are they? Never heard of them and can't find anything on Google.

Yes I want to hear about those goblins too !

I've seen one too. Along and through a hedge line in Cornwall. Proportionally incredibly large in comparison to the hedge. I've convinced myself it was a large black dog but the way it moved was not dog like and it was in the middle of nowhere, no owner about. I pointed it out to my boyfriend of the time and he didn't think it was a dog either but I also think if big cats were roaming about areas of the UK someone would have something definitive and real traces of them by now.

One time I dreamed that I was flying and I flew in through my bedroom window, saw myself asleep, and hopped back into my body. Jolted awake and have been convinced for years that it wasn't a dream

This happened to me when I was about 6 yrs old, I was in the corner of my bedroom, looking down on myself fast asleep. But mine was definitely not a dream.
