I'll start.
I've told no one this but my partner. I'm 24 and think Snt Nicholas/santa is real. Why? Because I distinctly remember hearing him. I was at my family members house and it was Christmas eve. I don't know why but my eyes shot open and it must of been around 2am. I could hear the soft chime of bells and it got louder and louder until it was audibly clear what it was. Then I heard a bang on the roof and I kid you not hooves! Loads of hooves and bells. The odd thing was that I wasn't excited as you would expect to be seeing Santa. I suddenly became paralyzed with this weird sense of fear.

I remember hiding in my bed and pulling the blanket over my eyes. I thought if I pretended to sleep he would go away. I then heard heavy sounds of footsteps around the house and a man's voice grunting. After what seemed like forever the noises of the man stopped and the hooves took off. After I was sure the coast was clear I ran to my bedroom window to see if I could catch a glimpse but I saw nothing. That morning I didn't tell anyone but simply asked all my male family members if anyone had gotten up over night. They hadn't (all are quite elderly). I know what I experienced. My partner thinks it was a delusion or one of those realistic dreams. But the experience was so vivid and unusual that I know it was real. No one would believe me so I don't bother saying it!

Okay your turn

Picking up someone’s spelling mistake is mean and unnecessary too.

Apportez l’epee.

@AcrossthePond55 My late DM used to tell me a similar story. Back in the 1930’s when she was about 3 years old. A family friend used to park up his small lorry in the back lane of the house she lived in. One day when he arrived she slipped out of the back door without anyone noticing. She then remembered vividly a man crouching down behind the lorry holding her sitting on his knee. At that point her parents and their friend came out into the back lane and were calling her name. He let her go and she ran out from behind the lorry to her parents.
A bit more lighthearted! I may have mentioned it on MN before. My unbelievable experience. My late DF used to take me to visit a friend of his who was an elderly merchant seaman. He lived in an old cottage down by the docks. He had a pet chimp that had his own armchair next to the coal fire and liked to smoke a cigarette.

Kamia · 29/10/2022 14:08

I've seen big cats. There was one who looked like a mini tiger used to leap over the fence. I think people keep them as exotic pets.

AcrossthePond55 · 29/10/2022 22:08

@MsFannySqueers

That's interesting about your DM's experience. Yes, it is somewhat similar to mine, especially since her memory is a bit 'patchy', too.

Cheesestring1 · 18/11/2022 22:56

Always thought this was a bit weird, I dreamt once that Amy Winehouse died. I wasn't a die hard fan or anything, she wasn't somebody that crossed my mind a lot. Then 2 weeks later, she actually died.

The exact same thing happene with Stuart 'The brand' Baggs from The Apprentice. Again, I liked him on the show but wasn't in my thoughts much. Dreamt he died, a couple of weeks later he died in his 20s.

A saw a UFO as a child. My mum insisted it was a cloud, but it wasn't.

I've "experienced" God.

Same!

A ball lightning once formed in my friends living room before zooming off into a wall and disappearing.

I don’t think anyone believes me when I tell them that. There were 2 other people who witnessed the ball so certain that one wasn’t a delusion.

An elderly lady I knew told me a similar story when I was a child, she said a large ball of lightning fell down the chimney and rolled across the floor!

Well that was weird haha. Apologies for the above!

The friend of the that house has seen them numerous times. Even chased down a street by one.

I have never ever experienced it since. And I hope not to as they can be dangerous apparently. But yes odd this person seems to have regular run ins with the balls. And I do believe him. He’s not one to make things up and I was there when the living room developed and that’s his least eventful one which barely gets a mention and I have to remind him about it.

Ive got a few.

When I was a kid, for whatever reason were talking about my mums friends dad. I said I thought he'd died. He died a couple of weeks later. Same with Roy Castle from record breakers. I said I thought he'd died and then he did. The same thing happened with someone else to but I can't remember who now.

Then I was sitting on the sofa, the ceiling had just been replastered and I got up and went in the kitchen or bathroom and some of the ceiling fell down. It was in the shape of my grandads profile. Shortly after we then got a call to say he'd died.

One night, in the middle of the night, about 10 past 3 my dog went crazy at something in the back garden. Howled like I never heard before or since. In the morning we found out my nan had died. My sisters dog went mental at just after 3am, and my mums dog did at 3.15 ish. I think my nan visited us all in turn because she'd died just before 3am (in hospital so they knew when).

I've seen lots of unexplained lights in the sky.

I remember flying down the stairs.

I also used to get that weird Alice in wonderland syndrome where all the furniture looked massive.

And I still get night terrors where I think there's a spider dropping down on my face.

I completely believe there are big cats about.

I saw one, very clearly, in a field next to a country road between Durham and Trimdon. I have no doubts about it. It was about 30 metres from me and I watched it walk across the field then take a large jump the last few metres, over a fence and into a copse of trees. Huge, black cat with long curved tail- square headed, whiskers, definitely a very very large cat.

I'm so glad you said that! I saw a big black cat while walking down Castle Eden walkway - my very brave dog suddenly stopped and refused to move. It crossed the path maybe 40m from us!

Must admit I turned back at that point! 😂

I was attacked by something as a young teen. I must have been 11/12.

Was sleeping in bed when someone thing started scratching my head and scalp with really sharp nails. Lasted a couple of minutes and then vanished. I couldn't see anything and the bedroom door didn't open. (we used to have a night light on the landing for my younger sister and if the door you could see the light.) I couldn't move while the thing was scratching me but once it vanished I screamed bloody murder and work everyone up.

My pillow was literally covered in blood and hair. I had a couple of really deep scratches going towards my neck and my scalp looked like I'd been dragged through a bramble bush.

Was bad enough that my parents rang the police but they found nothing. My poor scalp was sore as hell for ages!

No one ever believes me - they think it must have been one if my family but I'm 100% convinced the door stayed closed. And my parents have never physically disciplined us, or anything like that! Both parents also worked in food so had short blunt nails!

This is fucking horrible 🤯😨 I am reading this at 3am which makes it worse!

I remember on a previous woo thread, someone said they saw little gnomes or pixies walking past them.

I'm pretty sure I felt my DC being conceived / I knew just immediately after sex that I was pregnant.

Make the Krampus movie one of your Christmas films to watch.

After my DH death, I saw his outline, but with sort of flames around him. It wasn't as I was waking up, just in a bedroom that he often slept in when he was very unwell. I believe that we leave electrical imprints, if not spirits.

I saw the Merseyside goblins. I didn't know what they were until reading about them as an adult. I still remember the terror and the evil expressions in their faces. I was around seven.

Never heard of the Merseyside Goblins... What do they look like? Sounds horrible

They looked like demented dwarfs. There was a horrible feeling that evening. My Mum, who was emotionally cold, also commented on it. That night in bed I was woken up, saw them and started screaming. My Mum wasn't one to pander, but took me into her bed. We didn't speak about it until the Liverpool Echo did a piece on them and we realised that other local sitings were around that time. The Diddy Men were always part of Merseyside mythology, Arthur Askey made them part of his act, then Ken Dodd carried them on. If anyone else had have said what I saw, I wouldn't have believed them.

PicturesOfDogs · 13/12/2022 11:04

I think I’ve had sleep paralysis before, but it was different from how I’ve read it explained in here, so not sure.

I get it every so often, a feeling of dread and a cold tingly feeling, which changes into my ears ringing/whole body ringing.

Sometimes I feel my legs or arms being tugged, but I’ve never been ‘frozen’ for long, always snap out of it quite quickly.

But on this occasion I had fallen asleep on the sofa, and got the same ‘symptoms’, and then remember being carried towards the front door, and it opening, and me starting to be carried outside, which is when I snapped out of it, and I remember closing the door, and walking back and going back to sleep on the sofa.

So obviously not sleep paralysis, but maybe sleepwalking?

Scary to think I could have wandered outside

I know this is just a coincidence but I had a dream that Robin Williams passed away and the next day it was announced that he had committed suicide. It really freaked me out!

That's crazy :(
The same thing happened to me with Amy Winehouse and somebody from The Apprentice.
Dreamt they died and then shortly after they actually did :/

@Coffeetree , thanks for pointing that out. Grumpy old pedant that I am, I was dying to, but as usual, desisted.

I’m glad I’m not alone, it was such a surreal feeling when I read the news and I felt really uncomfortable.

My mum who passed away lets me know she’s close to me by flickering lights.

Yep, fucking mental.

The day she passed away I was in my walk in wardrobe and I broke down crying. I said out loud, mum just give me a sign you’re ok. The lights flickered. I used to go in that wardrobe to talk to her. The light had never done that before and would only really do it if I was talking out loud to her.

Then I went to see her body. The light above her flickered so much. At this stage I only half believed she was behind this.

Then her funeral. We walked into her wake and within a few mins, the light on the wall above the table with her picture on begun to flicker. The landlord of that pub spent an age trying to work out what was wrong. I told him it was mum and it’s stop once we all go. Apparently it stopped.

Then when I was giving birth, the baby was distressed. The light in the delivery room begun to flicker. Before saying anything my husband asked the midwife if that light usually flickers, she said no, never. That’s when I knew it was definitely my mum.

I don’t tell anyone though, they’ll think I’m a fruit cake.

I once saw a bichon frisé dog walk a good ten yards on its front legs in the Jardins de Tuileries.

My dog can do this, so I believe you !

I have also seen a big cat. A Mountain Lion I think, just calmly walking across a field.

If you look on Youtube, this is a thing that some dogs do. You should be able to find multiple videos of dogs not only walking on the their front legs, but peeing behind them while they walk.

For example:-

This is just what my dog does. She wees in the air as she walks along on her front legs. It does shock people.
