What is something you have experienced that no one would believe?

I'll start.
I've told no one this but my partner. I'm 24 and think Snt Nicholas/santa is real. Why? Because I distinctly remember hearing him. I was at my family members house and it was Christmas eve. I don't know why but my eyes shot open and it must of been around 2am. I could hear the soft chime of bells and it got louder and louder until it was audibly clear what it was. Then I heard a bang on the roof and I kid you not hooves! Loads of hooves and bells. The odd thing was that I wasn't excited as you would expect to be seeing Santa. I suddenly became paralyzed with this weird sense of fear.

I remember hiding in my bed and pulling the blanket over my eyes. I thought if I pretended to sleep he would go away. I then heard heavy sounds of footsteps around the house and a man's voice grunting. After what seemed like forever the noises of the man stopped and the hooves took off. After I was sure the coast was clear I ran to my bedroom window to see if I could catch a glimpse but I saw nothing. That morning I didn't tell anyone but simply asked all my male family members if anyone had gotten up over night. They hadn't (all are quite elderly). I know what I experienced. My partner thinks it was a delusion or one of those realistic dreams. But the experience was so vivid and unusual that I know it was real. No one would believe me so I don't bother saying it!

Okay your turn

I was also one of those "flying down the stairs" kids, had no idea this was a thing?

Me too. I had no idea it was a thing either ! For years I wasn’t sure if I actually had managed to jump down the entire flight or just imagined it.

In response to what you said my DD has had lucid/paralysis dreams where she’s been adamant they’re real. She still talks often about the wolf in our old house who told her to go away. I spoke to her from a young age about being able to control her dreams so she dreams much more lucidly, and I guess that’s the equivalent of a lucid nightmare, which she doesn’t have often.

Anyway in response to your question here goes. I saved my best friend at the time from being murdered purely because of intuition.

How did you save your friend ?

MyTurkey · 14/12/2022 10:54

When I was in my mid-twenties I had good friend from Uni days who was very religious (evangelical Christian). She persuaded me to come away on a church camping weekend. Her church was very popular with young people and families and there were hundreds of people there. There were lots of different kinds of services and seminars you could attend. I went to one about receiving the holy spirit, just out of curiosity. At the end they invited everyone to receive the holy spirit by putting your hands outs palm upwards. I did it just to see what would happen. I felt all tingly and then my mouth almost involuntary started moving and strange sounds came out of my mouth. No one seemed to notice or bat an eyelid? I found it very odd and had no idea what I was saying. I have never been religious of attended any church before or since. I have never told anyone as I think people would think I made it up or was just going along with something. To this day I do not understand what happened and can't explain it. I do know that religious people do something called 'speaking in tongues' and I guess this is what I was doing but I always thought it was something voluntary or that you have control over? Still freaks me out a bit.

I need the collective help of MN!

The strangest thing happened to me this morning. It was about 11am so not super early or the middle of the night. I was in the bedroom putting clean laundry away and thought I felt a lump under my tongue. I turned to the mirror and opened my mouth to look, and as I did, a pure white whisp of what looked like smoke or steam floated out from under my tongue and dispersed in the air just in fromt of my mouth. I breathed out thinking the air was cold but nope, the heating was on at that point.

Any ideas? I'm utterly baffled.

lurchermummy · 15/12/2022 21:48

@Squiff70 you had a ghost in your mouth. Obvs.

Same!

How did you experience God? What happened?

AuntieDickhead · 15/12/2022 22:13

AuntieDickhead · 25/10/2022 21:46

Of course. And I'm sure some people will find a way to dismiss my experience and that's fine.

About 10 years ago I was suffering very badly with depression. The only way I can explain it is like I was stuck at the very bottom of a very deep well. I could see and hear people walking past. Some days their voices were distant and unclear, others I could hear them perfectly. Friends and family could, and did, talk to me from the top. Someday if I stretched really hard I could grasp their hands, but they couldn't pull me out. It was very lonely.

And then one day I just felt this 'presence'. I knew I wasn't alone because someone was with me. I knew they loved me and would look after me. And they helped me find the way out. It was reassuring and peaceful. And I just knew that that someone was God.

So that's my experience. Like I said, people might brush it off or try and explain it away. But I honestly believe that was God's way of telling me I'd be OK.

@Cosycover I. Don't know of you were asking me or the person who said "same" but here's mine.

@Squiff70

You may have inadvertently done this:
Mouth Vapour

Or you had a ghost in your mouth! 🙂

nalabae · 16/12/2022 03:47

Sounds like demon possession that's very scary.

Cherryana · 16/12/2022 07:10

That I have experienced almost all of these!!

  1. When I was young on Christmas Eve I heard sleigh bells and looked out my window and saw the outline of a sleigh with gold lights around it in the sky.
  2. I saw a big cat on a walk. It was on the other side of the canal to the side I was on.
  3. I used to be an evangelical Christian and have had lots of spiritual experiences both God/good and evil…and I don’t really know what I think about them.
  4. My husband has seen a UFO but not me - that’s as close as I get to that one!!
  5. Feathers are around me/on me/by me often!!
Cherryana · 16/12/2022 07:16

@Kamia and @MyTurkey - no it is not a demon possession - that is a very frightening thing to diagnose on the internet. People who do know about this stuff would be very loathe to ever say to a person they are possessed. Even if they thought it was demonic they would use the. language demonic oppression.

What @MyTurkey is describing happens to me my whole teen years (soul survivor/new wine/spring harvest) - I imagine the experience felt good and releasing - I think now as an adult, when I reflect on it we were sensitive to the collective experience, the music, suggestion - please do it worry or consider any other horrible possibility.

UseAMuckySock · 16/12/2022 07:38

Adults believing in Santa clause? Wtf

Babychampers · 16/12/2022 22:10

Wtaf. Of all the weird things I've ever read on MN this takes the biscuit! Did it hurt? Did you feel anything afterwards? Has other woo stuff happened to you of late? I wonder what on earth it was? I love woo stuff so am really intrigued by this! Xx

Cherryana · 16/12/2022 22:32

@Babychampers they are evangelical Christian camps. You could go to one next summer!! 😂

Babychampers · 18/12/2022 02:34

Ah cool! I would be quite interested to see one 😁

Reindeersnooker · 18/12/2022 16:13

Speaking in tongues is not a phenomenon unique to Christianity. It's a form of mass hysteria I believe. Definitely nothing super sinister!
