Tell me about Matched betting or other way to make money quick?

BoobBoobBaby · 22/10/2022 08:28

Keep seeing online that matched betting is a good way to earn a little bit of money for a short time. But I literally have no idea what it is or how to do it. The closest I come to gambling is buying lottery tickets, I know nothing about placing a bet, how to do it, what to pick etc. Is there an idiots guide somewhere to match betting? Is it really a quick way to make money, or do I need some skill at betting? Any other suggestions on ways to make some Christmas money?

You googled it so presumably you saw Profit accumulator and similar. They have all these answers.

It can be quick if you have larger initial cash sum. If you have £30 it can take longer.

Confrontayshunme · 22/10/2022 08:34

Get a job. Literally every shop on our high street has positions available. If you work 15-20 hours a week between now and Christmas, you will make five times more than you would risking your money on something you have no experience doing.

America12 · 22/10/2022 08:38

Essentially you place two bets on the same thing
Eg Liverpool vs Arsenal
You place one bet for Arsenal to win them with another firm you bet Arsenal to lose.
You use free introductory bets with betting firms eg William Hill.
Profit Accumulator explains it well.

Depends if she has children / childcare , not feasible for everyone.

BoobBoobBaby · 22/10/2022 08:47

@Confrontayshunme i have a job? I work and have kids, I’m looking for something that will provide some extra income to pay for Christmas. Not sure why you think I’m not working?

It's a fabulous way to lose money that you don't have. Do you honestly think everyone wins?

Match betting isn't gambling, as long as you do it correctly its guaranteed tax free money.

OP read about it - have a look at profit accumulator or oddsmonkey. Learn how it works, & how you make the money. Oddsmonkey and the likes have step by step guides that take you through it.

@blanketyblank97 You obviously have no idea how matched betting works. It isn’t just placing a normal bet and hoping for the best…

OP, matched betting is fine if you understand how it works, are internet savvy, keep a cool head. If you are easily distracted or clumsy you can lose money if you take too long before you match up your bets or accidentally place the bets the wrong way round.

Ignore this comment, OP. The poster has clearly never done it or, if they did, then they didn’t do it properly; if you do it right, the most you’d ever ‘lose’ would be a matter of pence on an introductory bet, after which you’d then be entitled to a free bet which is where you make money. As other, more knowledgeable PPs have said, Profit Accumulator has all of the information you need. Sign up to their free trial, follow their very useful and easy-to-follow video tutorials and make an informed decision from
there about whether it’s something you want to pursue.

Best of luck! X

It's not possible to lose money on Matched Betting if you do it correctly. It's not gambling in the ordinary sense.

OP - you need a lot of disposable cash to make money on Matched Betting though and you make small amounts at a time (around £15 on each bet or so) plus you need to pay for a subscription to either profit accumulator or another equivalent site. I found it quite time-consuming but I know someone who does it as his main job and has a good income from it. He had a lot of starting capital though.

I found it easier to make a bit of extra money doing AmazonFlex.

Dinneronmybfpillow · 22/10/2022 08:57

DH did it for a while. In our experience you need to be able to keep accurate records, have a decent understanding of sports and be able to dedicate some regular time to it. He made a small amount of money (he's very cautious so started small) but ultimately didn't have the time to keep it up and got gubbed anyway.

Matched betting is not gambling. Don't comment on things you know nothing about.

LadyWithLapdog · 22/10/2022 09:00

It’s very time consuming for really small amounts. You need lots of time to make it profitable. Then you eventually get banned by all the bookies.

dottiedodah · 22/10/2022 09:00

If you have a spare room maybe a lodger will help.tax free up to 7k .a friend maybe or someone known to you.

Confrontayshunme · 22/10/2022 09:01

I still maintain that working a few hours extra on a different job will make the money. If you have a job, it should be even easier. I started working the breakfast shift at a cafe near us recently and make an extra 40 quid a week. I have heard far more bad outcomes from matched betting in real life than I have good ones. People on here can say they have been successful at it, but in real life, I have never heard of anyone doing it to the point of being able to afford extra Christmas presents. They are all skint and still skint.

Hooverphobe · 22/10/2022 09:03

I made about £30k with matched betting before getting gubbed nearly everywhere. Did one small offer before getting out of bed this morning and made £12.

blanketyblank97 · 22/10/2022 09:03

@OoooohMatron I've read my post five times, I can't see the word gambling in it?

So, WTF are you taking about? You need to actually read what's written before you comment!

You think everyone wins at matched betting, never an error made?

You may want to read this article, although you struggle with three short lines to comprehend and understand, so it may be a struggle!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/10/2022 09:04

I did matched betting for a bit. It is impossible to lose money if you do it correctly, but I found it exceptionally time consuming and it wasn’t a get rich quick scheme. You also need quick a good float up front or it can take ages to make any money.

could you do Amazon delivery? Ds made quite a bit of easy money as a student. He kept doing it alongside his first job as it is a good earner if you really need the money.

blanketyblank97 · 22/10/2022 09:06

It is impossible to lose money if you do it correctly,

So you can lose if you make a mistake?

glamourousindierockandroll · 22/10/2022 09:07

As others said, use profit accumulator and follow it to the letter. I did it a few months ago starting with £10 and made about £200. I've given up for the moment but it's sitting there in my betting account for when I want to pick it up again.

Go very slowly and read everything thoroughly, is my advice. It's easy to think you've got the gist and make an inadvertent mistake.

It's also better to have patience and place bets a few days in advance. If you get impatient and try placing bets on things happening in the next couple of hours, you'll find that the odds can change quickly while you're switching between the sites, meaning that it's no longer matched.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/10/2022 09:07

Yes you could lose on a bet if you don’t remember to lay it.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 22/10/2022 09:09

I paid off £3k of debt through match betting. The key things I would say about it:
Take your time, read the guides already mentioned by others and triple check what you are doing first few times as it's quite a lot to get your head around at first

Track your bets and outcomes, you can have multiple on at once on various websites and it'd very easy to get confused

If you are the type that will be tempted to gamble/take a punt then stay clear of it

It's time consuming, be prepared to dedicate quite a few hours to it.

I did the casino offers too. Again, I followed the guidance from oddsmonkey etc. Do not do it if you are at all inclined to gamble!

The offers are best when you sign up, and over certain big sporting events such as Cheltenham races. Once these opening offers start to dry up it becomes harder. I don't do it anymore as it became harder to make money. But it absolutely was worth it.

Well yes if you do it wrong you can lose money. It’s not that difficult though and if you spend a bit of time making sure you get it right then you won’t lose money and can make quite a bit. I’ve done it casually for a couple of years and never made a mistake.
