To not get the Karen’s Diner concept?

So I get that the staff are suppose to be rude and tell you to fuck off to then make you a “Karen”.

But I don’t get why you’d want to be verbally abused and apparently the food isn’t great either - this apparently means I have no sense of humour.

YANBU
It sounds shit

Y7drama · 15/10/2022 16:56

Sounds horrible, why would you want this?

ToooMuchToDo · 15/10/2022 16:57

In a parallel universe where I understand what you are talking about and know what you mean then yes, you are either being unreasonable or not. 😵‍💫

Thesearmsofmine · 15/10/2022 16:57

It sounds stupid and will probably be a short lived trend.

I8toys · 15/10/2022 16:57

Not my idea of a good time - seems a bit faddy.

liveforsummer · 15/10/2022 16:57

Some people like it and think it's funny, enough that they appear regularly busy so I guess that's the point.

JusticeLover · 15/10/2022 16:58

Is this actually real somewhere or on a video game?

hugznotdrugz · 15/10/2022 16:58

Then don't go?

It's just a bit of light hearted fun the issue is people don't realise what they're in for (even though it's pretty easy to find out) and then complain that they don't like it.

Merryoldgoat · 15/10/2022 16:59

Me either OP. Sound really shit.

What? Has someone commodified Karenism? I absolutely hate society FFS!

That's true of many businesses though but it's making money just now so good for them. Don't like the look of it personally so I wouldn't go but that goes for plenty other places too

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 15/10/2022 17:01

Yeah it's not my kind of thing . Actually I'd rather shit in my hands and clap , no idea why anyone would go there

sandytooth · 15/10/2022 17:02

Boycott for ridiculous use of the name Karen

notanothertakeaway · 15/10/2022 17:02

I think this could be fun, if the food is good

We went to an event where they had two actors pretending to be guests and insulting the other guests. It was v entertaining

Oysterbabe · 15/10/2022 17:02

It sounds shit tbh.
Although thinking about it I went to that Banksy thing in Weston-super-Mare a few years back where the staff were all rude and it was quite fun.

I wouldn't. I wouldn't enjoy it at all but I'd prefer it to clapping hands coveted in shit.

LikeTearsInRain · 15/10/2022 17:02

it sounds great to me would love to have a Karen showdown with their staff and see how they handle it

jetadore · 15/10/2022 17:03

More late stage capitalist bullshit for the hard of thinking, ‘influenced’ herd. Generally food places that are about the “experience” tend not to last, most people just want good food, atmosphere and service. Presumably the investors in this place will want to cash in before the fad dies out. Cf. that salt bae nonsense.

Kanaloa · 15/10/2022 17:04

Wouldn’t be for me. I don’t really need ‘entertaining’ when I go out to eat. Usually I’m with people I love and want to have good service, nice food, and be able to have a good catch up.

But it takes all sorts really - if people want to go there then they can fill their boots!

thelobsterquadrille · 15/10/2022 17:05

I mean, you don't have to like it?

Blendiful · 15/10/2022 17:06

I don't really get it either, I go out to be treated nice and eat nice food, my idea of hell. But some people like it I guess

AutumnScream · 15/10/2022 17:09

If its not your humour then fine but other people are allowed to enjoy it. Its been popular in Australia and america for years its a chain theres one in Birmingham and Manchester.

The staff are rude to you and you are supposed to be rude back to them, its banter everyone is in on the joke thats the whole point.

I dont agree with children going there but i do see why adults would find it harmless fun. Its not personally for me i would hate to be insulted and would be too polite to dish out harsh words 🤣

JusticeLover · 15/10/2022 17:09

Making money out of misogyny, a tale as old as time.

Is saying someone looks bulimic lighthearted?
