Have asked real people who mostly say it's a wanky status symbol and has gone the way of Burberry tartan from way back.

I thought they looked comfy and on trend and id look down with the kids

YABU = over-priced, over used and looks like desperate showing off
YANBU = top quality product and you'll look fashionable

Is there an ethical alternative? Or a more ethical alternative I should perhaps say? I’m not the OP but I really really need a very warm coat. A lot of people saying it doesn’t get down to -15 in the U.K. are right (and I’ve lived through a North American winter, they’re no joke) but my DD has an outdoor hobby that sees me standing for hours on end in the driving rain on a North Yorkshire hillside with a biting wind coming straight off the sea from Scandinavia. It’s cold. I could never countenance a CG coat for all the reasons listed here so any recommendations for warm alternatives would be greatly received.

@MissDollyMix

I have this www.landsend.co.uk/Womens_Squall__Waterproof_Hooded_Stadium_Long_Coat/pp/P_41660.html?cgid=11312&dwvar_P__41660_sizeVariation=Plus&dwvar_P__41660_color=38S&dwvar_P__41660_color=38S and its seriously warm! Very much like wearing a duvet 😁 I'm short too so it comes right down to my calves which is even better!

There is another Canadian brand called Moose Knuckle who make beautiful very very warm coats similar to Canada Goose. They are more ethical (although not entirely) and their coats are just as high end and warm and waterproof.

i do however disagree that it’s not cold enough to wear Canada goose level coats. Standing on a football pitch or dog walking at 8am on a Saturday morning in January it’s more than cold enough.

To be fair I only wear my moose knuckle for watching sport, and walking dogs / outside activities and not when driving or running errands etc but it’s amazing

It's not cold enough in the UK.

They're unethical

You're going to look try-hard knob in it

It's a life goal

You're brilliant, that made me laugh!

It's a sound brand with quetionable ethics, and made for winters of the sort we don't get here, so I wouldn't, but you're not me, last I checked anyway.

YABU - please don’t buy from them OP - this is what they do to animals to make their products

The question of ethics is interesting. CG seem to manufacture all their apparel in Canada, so not using sweatshop labour. To me, that makes it a more ethical brand than places using forced labour and highly polluting synthetic fabrics.

Does it have to be one or the other? People can choose a brand that neither tortures animals or exploits humans.
