Have asked real people who mostly say it's a wanky status symbol and has gone the way of Burberry tartan from way back.

I thought they looked comfy and on trend and id look down with the kids

YABU = over-priced, over used and looks like desperate showing off
YANBU = top quality product and you'll look fashionable

I think it would be cheaper to breed dogs for the fur?
I mean it would cost a lot to pay people to trap wild dogs???

LimpBiskit · 30/09/2022 19:36

YABU. Totally overpriced and loads of jackets that are technically superior and much cheaper.

It's a life goal

🤣🤣🤣🤣 sorry, that made me laugh more than it probably should have.

NashvilleQueen · 30/09/2022 19:39

They are quite beloved of criminals because they're so expensive. That and the fur of course. They're not for me.

Loads of similar style coats about

bellac11 · 30/09/2022 19:40

I stopped buying anything made from feather and down a long time ago, despite any 'guarantee' its impossible to be sure that the feathers or down was sourced in a cruelty free way.

I went off David Attenborough when I found out he wears coats from this dreadful company.

paid for by the public too....

Kindofcrunchy · 30/09/2022 19:43

Fur looks better on the animal
Please don't buy real fur products

Tabitha005 · 30/09/2022 19:45

Fuck, no! Zero ethics and cruelty to animals.

So does skin aka leather.... No one minds leather shoes though.
I would agree of course eith specific furs when the rest of the animal isn't really used!

Honestly, I’m Canadian and have owned a few Canada Goose jackets over the years - whilst living in Canada. Because when it’s minus 20 and you have to walk to the metro or clear 30 cm of snow off your driveway, it’s a pretty good coat. But in the UK? I scoff at people wearing them. It’s not cold enough for a coat lined in goose feathers. I have no idea why or when they became a fashion ‘thing’, it’s just bizarre. And seemingly more people wear them here than back home 🤷‍♀️

I'm sure he will be devastated.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/09/2022 19:52

Whilst Canada Geese are certainly large birds, I would image that a jacket designed for them would be far to small for an adult human.

I would make sure that you are able to return it if it turns out to be too small.

Janedoe82 · 30/09/2022 19:52

Tacky

Chloefairydust · 30/09/2022 19:53

I don’t really understand why they are so popular, they don’t even look nice … I don’t get it is it a fashion thing?

Sounds like they are not an ethical company either… that post about the dogs chewing their own legs off is heartbreaking 😢

MissDollyMix · 30/09/2022 19:10

Is there an ethical alternative? Or a more ethical alternative I should perhaps say? I’m not the OP but I really really need a very warm coat. A lot of people saying it doesn’t get down to -15 in the U.K. are right (and I’ve lived through a North American winter, they’re no joke) but my DD has an outdoor hobby that sees me standing for hours on end in the driving rain on a North Yorkshire hillside with a biting wind coming straight off the sea from Scandinavia. It’s cold. I could never countenance a CG coat for all the reasons listed here so any recommendations for warm alternatives would be greatly received.

Finisterre do some huge parkas - polar range or something like that. They’re a B Corp so nice ethical tick.

Boxofsockss · 30/09/2022 19:54

Phrenologistsfinger · 30/09/2022 18:32

YABU - they kill wild dogs to trim the hoods with their fur, with cruel snare traps. In a frantic attempt to escape, the poor dogs try and knaw off their own limbs. Horrific.

UGLY through and through and so is anyone wearing them.

This. They are not an ethical company. Please don’t buy.

CMZ2018 · 30/09/2022 19:55

Buy one, wear what you like. I’ve had a couple and both too warm for any activity other than sitting at an outdoor event in winter

Wnikat · 30/09/2022 19:56

I have one and it is absolutely not worth the money. North face is better.

Fleur405 · 30/09/2022 19:57

I have a very warm goose down jacket - from another, more ethical company and no fur involved - which I bought for a trip to northern china where the temperatures got down to -20. I wore it once at home (north east Scotland) on a very cold snowy day and I was far too hot. So really I wouldn’t buy one unless you are planning on spending a lot of time somewhere very cold!

Darbs76 · 30/09/2022 19:57

Absolutely not. I’d never heard of them until I saw a large protest outside their london store. I’d never buy a thing from there

Weird. Didn’t say he’d be devastated, just that I went off him. There we are then. Have a lovely evening.

19lottie82 · 30/09/2022 20:04

Yuk!!! You are a terrible person..do some research into the company, and your morals

A terrible person?

I take it you don’t eat meat, any animal products, don’t wear leather and don’t shop at most high street stores for clothing? OR associate with anyone that does? I certainly don’t spend time with people that I view to be “terrible”.

OldWivesTale · 30/09/2022 20:06

They are cruel.

They are far too warm for the UK.

They are very heavy to wear ( not comfortable)

They look "chavvy" (I don't like to use the word but I can't think of any other way to describe the look.

Kitkatcatflap · 30/09/2022 20:08

'Fuck off you Canada Goose nonse'. A line from series 2 Industry.
