I'm mean, obviously, she's a crashing snob, and small-minded and ridiculously bourgeois...

But, the outfits. The exquisite enunciation. The way she batters Jerry and Tom down with a single phrase. Magnificent 😁

Margot shops in Harrods food hall. She’d think Waitrose is for hoi polloi.

Surely Margot would send someone to shop for her in Harrods food Hall! I wonder if she would have discivered Aldi were she still around to day, I can just see her in a voluminous trench coat, collar up, big slouched hat pulled down and enormous sun-glasses trying to get round with none of her friends seeing her!

Margo was amazing!! I wish they’d just done a spin off with Margo and Jerry and binned off Tom and Barbara all together.

That would have been brilliant!!

millymog11 · 01/10/2022 20:37

Margo is how sex should be. Women on top confident men doing their thing underneath. Just my opinion. Men can get their satisfaction.

Clarinet1 · 01/10/2022 21:11

Anyone besides me think that Margo and Penny in Miranda might
be cousins?

What??

My mother once teasingly called me "Margo", as I neatly put away my set of vintage crystal sherry glasses. I was, naturally, delighted (and changed my user name that day).

I do waft in a kaftan most days, though I also grow vegetables, keep chickens, and spent today insulating our roof spaces. Just because one can look after ones' house, there's no need to let standards drop.

I also realised that the Leadbetters' surname was as much a pun as the Goods', because of course Margo and Jerry led a much better life.

MIND BLOWN!
How have I never realised?!

This thread has inspired me to make a complaint to Sainsbury's. It was something I would usually let go but I have channelled my inner Margo and I will no longer stand for shoddy produce.

Perhaps someone should start a Channel Your Inner Margo life-coaching course? Better than yoga and fruit tea.

I'd definitely sign up for that @EsmaCannonball it's a great idea how are you fixed for starting one up?Grin

EsmaCannonball · 02/10/2022 12:12

I think I'd need to go on the course, not run it. For a start my wardrobe is far more Barbara than fabulous Pucci-print kaftans.

jeffgoldblum · 02/10/2022 12:30

On another thread I'm on , I'd love to channel my inner Margo!
It's all so common and tawdry!
Saying this there however would win me no friends 🤣

JustbemoreMargo · 02/10/2022 18:44

@EsmaCannonball sign me up too!

SunscreenCentral · 02/10/2022 19:10

I named my cat after her ❤️

cakeorwine · 02/10/2022 19:41

Just rewatching from the the beginning. I have them recorded.

I think Margot is the person who goes on the most interesting journey. At the start, she is complaining about Barbara working in the garden and Tom taking the goat to the common. But we all know that she does get supportive at the end.

Just seen there’s a program on channel 5 Saturday evening about Penelope Keith ( thought you might like to know!)

cakeorwine · 08/10/2022 20:20

Tonight on Channel 5 at 8.40 pm

Revolvingwhore · 08/10/2022 20:48

She is well intentioned, but she is constantly a figure of fun. She doesn't seem to mind though, does she? Either she doesn't detect it or just bulldozes through the piss taking.

AbcMurders · 08/10/2022 20:55

Caught some of it recently, forgot how entitled Tom and Barbara were sometimes! And how they’d pander to Jerry a lot of the time to bypass Margo and undermine her, she was def the best character

Youdoyoutoday · 15/10/2022 17:33

Finally getting round to watching Penelope Keith: from margo to the Manor born!!

Yay!! Loving it!!
