to ask what you pay for childcare?

I'm just curious to see if childcare rates vary around the country/UK?

I pay £40 a day for my 2 year old go to a childminder for 8 hours 3 (sometimes 4) days a week, this was £35 a day until very recently. I did, however, pay pushing on £50 a day for my day when my daughter was at nursery 6-7 years ago.

Roll on 15 free hours next year! Although I do think my childminder is very good value 😊

GlobetrottingPercy · 04/09/2022 19:30

East Midlands too, £57 per day for a private nursery. Includes 3 meals, all snacks, milk, nappies and outings

whatatanker · 04/09/2022 19:31

£74/ day. My monthly bill is £1300. West Midlands. I think a nanny might be cheaper at this price point.

EmptyGlassHalf · 04/09/2022 19:32

£68 per day for nursery. DD is 2 years old and goes three days a week. Grandparents cover the other two days. I’m in the North West.

I suspect I could get somewhere cheaper but the nursery has a good reputation and the core staff have been there 20 years+, which I like.

Skidamarinkadinkadink · 04/09/2022 19:33

£80 a day - south east, near London

mynameiscalypso · 04/09/2022 19:33

Central London. Nursery is about £90/day (including 15 free hours).

Eek3under3 · 04/09/2022 19:33

Kent. We pay £13 ph net/ £17 gross. 8 hours a day, recently changed from 4 to 3 days a week.

SalviaOfficinalis · 04/09/2022 19:33

I’m In Ireland and I pay for an Afterschool service from 2:20 until 5:00 Mon-Thurs and until 4:00 on a Fri. It costs €112 per week for two dc.

Secondchildregret · 04/09/2022 19:37

DC 1 £53/day (10hrs) goes 2 days/week
DC 2 £45/day (10hrs sibling discount) goes 3 days/week.

After TFC it’s ~£900 a month DP pays it all.

I will say the nursery is VERY good not only with them but with how they update us at the end of or throughout the day. All but one are mothers themselves so give really good feedback at the end of the day and during if something happens.

PizzaPatel · 04/09/2022 19:38

London £74 a day

Quail15 · 04/09/2022 19:38

Surrey - £90 per day for my 16 month old and £14 per day for my 3 year old (has 30 free hours) private nursery 7:30-18:30.

Loics · 04/09/2022 19:40

Around £1400 a month for 2, in Yorkshire. Our free hours for the eldest will start in a few months.

That's for 4 days a week.

Mine is out of the nursery stage now but pre the 15 taxpayer funded hours, it was just under £2k per month (5 days a week). National chain. In an expensive area of the country.
I once worked out that I’d need to earn around £35k just to break even on childcare.

Hugasauras · 04/09/2022 19:42

£42 a day for DD who is 3.5. Under 2 it's £50 a day.

With funding we pay £168 a month for three full days (8-5.30) across 48 weeks (two weeks closed at Xmas and then we take her out for two weeks of our choice).

Hugasauras · 04/09/2022 19:43

Oh and that's all food and snacks but not nappies and wipes (for the younger kids).

SquigglePigs · 04/09/2022 19:43

Nursery is £57 a day, with a 5% discount for full time. We do get 30 hrs now she's 3 (which is 22 hrs a week averaged across the year) so on the two days that covers fully we just pay £12 in additional charges. All in all it's about £800 a month for a full time place, even with the "free hours".

Hugasauras · 04/09/2022 19:44

Whoops and we are in north-east Scotland

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 04/09/2022 19:44

North east - £450 a month for 3 children after school club 3.30 - 5.30
