to ask what you pay for childcare?

I'm just curious to see if childcare rates vary around the country/UK?

I pay £40 a day for my 2 year old go to a childminder for 8 hours 3 (sometimes 4) days a week, this was £35 a day until very recently. I did, however, pay pushing on £50 a day for my day when my daughter was at nursery 6-7 years ago.

Roll on 15 free hours next year! Although I do think my childminder is very good value 😊

North West, a private day nursery, it's £51 a day for over 2s and £53 a day for under 2s. Eldest gets their 30 hours though, but there is a consumables top up or £12 for each day of the funded days. Then the third day has a few hours funded so is £47 for that day. I know ours is one of the more affordable local nurseries though, highest I've heard locally is £67 a day.

Scotland.. £53 per day 730am until 6pm. Includes meals and snacks but not nappies and wipes

Loosingitall · 04/09/2022 20:16

£45 a day for us in the East Midlands. We have 4 days a week term time only. Once the 30 funded hours are on it drops to £2.50 a day for food on funded days, so we really enjoy paying £52.50 a week instead of £180!

love the nursery though. My eldest just finished to start school after 4 years and I was really sad about his time being over. Do enjoy the extra cash though!

Yours sounds like good value to me!

I pay £13 per day for my ds to be collected from school and looked after by a CM until 5. She often only has him, or max one other child though. He’s 8.

We’re in London though.

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing just interested as DD is doing some babysitting whilst doing her Masters.
She has loads of experience both in a private home doing what you are describing as well as Nursery and PreSchool experience and enhanced DBS.
She was wondering what to charge.
Do you really only pay £13 a day in london?
surely it is at least a couple of hours from after school until 5???

3WildOnes · 04/09/2022 20:21

SW London £90 pd

SouperNoodle · 04/09/2022 20:23

£5 an hour for wrap around childminder in Lincolnshire. A biscuit and a drink included.

She charges from 3pm (school pick up is 3.30pm) because she has to go to the school. Wish my employer paid me for my commute.

wentoschool · 04/09/2022 20:25

£275 every month for 8 sessions

Includes lunches and snacks

930-330 x 2 a week

I pay £18 a day for breakfast and after school club. This month's bill was £378.

Nursery when 3 (funded 30 hours- spread over 12 months) was around £30 a day/approx £635 a month. Before funding was £47 a day which was a bit discounted because she was full time - around £1,050 a month.

Holiday club is around £25 a day so summer holidays cost me £500 for 4 weeks (I took annual leave for the rest).

Just FYI, DD1 is 15 and her hobbies/money for trips out with friends cost me around £300 a month still so it doesn't really get cheaper!

JackandSam · 04/09/2022 20:40

North West - £50 per day without free hours. If you are full time (5 days) you get a discounted rate of £48 per day.

Noix · 04/09/2022 20:43

London, 18/hr gross pay for live out nanny. Nursery next year will be 90/day so about half.

PanettoneMoly · 04/09/2022 20:43

ElegantlyTouched · 04/09/2022 20:53

If she were in for the full 8 hours a day it would be £16.80 excluding lunch and and nappies. But I work there so get a discount for which I'm incredibly grateful!
