She just seems so nice and unaffected, especially considering the amazing life and attention she’s had. Never seem to hear a bad word about her and she still looks good!
I just basically want to be her and have had her life 🤣

What is the Mumsnet haircut? Do I have it?

Bound to. I bet you've worn a Fatface top as well, you worthless excuse for a woman.

TheFlyingFox · 01/09/2022 19:12

In a world in which women are expected to be goody-goody and are often competitively so, showing off how hard they work, how perfect their home and family are, how "correct" their views on all subjects, I think Kate Moss offers a refreshing alternative.

I agree.

She's a threat to a lot of mumsnetters because of that too. Hence the nastiness.

I think that Kate Moss is interesting in the sense that she's a modern celeb who's managed to maintain some sort of 'mystique'. She's been in the public eye for decades but we barely know anything about her. She's not all over social media, rarely gives interviews and doesn't bore us with inane opinions. That's a rarity in today's celebrity culture.

I think if we'd heard her voice, her mystique would have been ruined.

Itsseptemberthatwentfast · 01/09/2022 19:32

Yes, what IS the mumsnet haircut 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

I've never worn Fat face or the other brands in my life…my parents are into Fat face 😬

I still would’ve loved to have had her life! She reminds me of my 90’s/2000’s youth..but it never ended..amazing times

She seems a lovely person.

Didn't she have form for turning up hours late for modelling jobs and keeping everyone waiting?

No - that would be Naomi Campbell.
And Amber Valetta.

susan12345678 · 01/09/2022 19:38

The only time I disapproved of her was the Topshop era when she was schmoozing on yachts with Philip Green.🤑

Overall, she strikes me as an interesting and honest person, she’s led an authentic life - her best life, I’d say. She surrounded by people that love and respect her. There’s a lot to admire, imo.

But what’s the Mumsnet haircut?

KangFang · 01/09/2022 19:43

TheCorrs · 01/09/2022 13:20

What? Noooooooooooo.

Yes, it seems that she had a nose job in the early 90s and recently had a facelift.

DougalsBlueJumper · 01/09/2022 19:55

She is very beautiful and could make an old sack look stylish. But I don't admire her as such. She ponces up and down in designer clothes for a living because she was born beautiful. So while I absolutely love how she looks, my bar for admiration is set using different criteria.

Lalalolol · 01/09/2022 21:08

@IcedPurple why do you think a short person is not attractive enough to be a ramp model? Do you find plus size models unattractive too? It was in 80s/90s that models needed to be tall. You don't know if she would've been a successful model today. In today's world beauty standards are not as rigid like in past. Good on Lila Moss for trying to be a model in an industry dominated by tall women

I wish this were true. My DD was model scouted by a reputable agency a few years ago at the age of 14. She was told, though, that she’d have to grow to at least 5ft 9.

Tabbouleh · 01/09/2022 18:42

She is clearly incredibly popular because there have been at least 3 recent threads about how fabulous she is?

She is clearly trying to get her wellness brand out there - no? Hence the naked photo she shared to garner attention. The whole thing is embarrassing and most likely to damage her confused brand further.

Yes, good on Lila Moss trying to make it in the cut throat world of modelling with all the odds stacked against her 😂.

HRTQueen · 02/09/2022 07:14

Part of her coolness is that she has rarely given interviews that seems to be changing so maybe she has got used to the press interest and wants to keep it

she seems nice and sweet

i saw her a few times out and about and she was off her head every time. Why you would have your child around Pete D as he was then I don’t know but it was irresponsible but then she was certainly parting hard then

She’s beautiful and seems lovely, but her very public support of poor male behaviour is a bit disappointing imo. Like yes, she supported JD with her truth during the trial, fine. But he hardly came out of that whole thing smelling of roses, so why she’d like to continue to associate herself with him/ romanticise him (in the interview yesterday chatting about him pulling diamonds from his arse crack) seems odd. She surely has far more appropriate anecdotes?
Then there was her support of John Galliano after his anti Semitic outburst .
Also posing for Lucien Freud who had some questionable attitudes towards women.
I was also surprised on the desert island discs podcast how unaccountable she seemed to be about being caught with drugs, and seemed to feel that the primary issue was the invasion of her privacy.

This.

I think she has had a turbulent lifestyle.
She admittedly messd up her nervous system, that in itself feels like walking on a tight rope and as if obvious to people around her.

She is still a drug addict who happens to be sober but she'll always have to fight the temptation.

I don't envy her at all.

LouisCatorze · 02/09/2022 08:26

She’s a skinny chav from Croyden that got lucky. There’s thousands like her. It's Croydon and I don't think she's what you'd so disparagingly refer to as a Chav. She was brought up in Sanderstead FFS!

Arbesque · 02/09/2022 08:28

LittleFluffyCloudz · 01/09/2022 18:15

She isn't popular on mumsnet because she doesn't have the mumsnet haircut and dress in Seasalt/Joules/FatFace.

Where do you get the get the impression she's unpopular?

Some posters are just saying she's not someone they particularly look up to. It's great if she's sorted herself out as she approaches 50, but her previous lifestyle isn't one most of us would have aspired to. And 'cool' is quite a subjective word.

LouisCatorze · 02/09/2022 08:29

And surely if we had lived the life KM has done, there but for the grace of God would go a lot of us too.

Sanderstead isn't much further from Croydon.

Croydon's changed a lot over the years and probably when Kate went out there (most locals from nearby go out there or to West End when they can) it was fairly 'tame'. Still lots of drinking/drugs going on on her hey day and even now like in most big/medium sized towns, see Bromley/Enfield/Harrow for Kent/London/Herts equivalents. It was 'naice' up until 2010/15ish I think... for shopping at least. Croydon has a fair share of undesirables because they live on estates in the outlying sprawl beyond but mixed in with 'naice' housing stock so e.g. Sanderstead (which is also 'naice', it has a Waitrose etc), Warlingham, Limpsfield etc.

I don't really have views on her one way or the other because she and many others were also like me (me from late 90s/2000s as I was a good girl before!). In fact I was quite proud of her at one point because she put Croydon on the map and the adverts including Rimmel were edgy and iconic. It did leave a bit of a bad taste in our mouths when she was 'exposed' for her coke habit and her subsequent relationships were a bit of a car crash, but it is what it is. Media world innit?!

MistyRock · 02/09/2022 09:32

I really like Kate Moss, I think she's lead an interesting life, yes she's had issues with drink and drugs but she's certainly not boring. She always looks good, she seems to follow her own path. She's just effortlessly cool. Kim Kadashian on the other hand. 🤮

gyurghle · 02/09/2022 09:33

I love her, she seems so much fun & like she has lots of fun.
