Littles, littlies, little ones, tots - hate hate hate. Don’t get me started on “change their bum”. The infantalisation of language drives me bananas. Maybe we’re both grumpy!

I never even think about this type of thing or notice it, I don't say it either.

Not necessarily where it comes from. But they are very big on shortening words in the same way! Arvo for afternoon, Ambo for ambulance, Devo for devastated, Sanga for sandwich and so on!

Seen some photos of someone's kid starting P1 recently with a big speech about how far she's come and how incredibly proud her parents were of all her achievements then the stinger - "you got this baby girl, we are all behind you"

Haaa this threads brilliant! I love how such tiny things irritate people so irrationally. I think sometimes things irritate me based on how they're said by certain people, like hun, rather than the actual word.

Agree with most of these except doggo, which is a great word
