Why are men so entitled?

Blessed be the fruit

Justmuddlingalong · 24/08/2022 19:40

Perhaps Mark and Tom Daley could set up a support group. 🤔

MoltenLasagne · 24/08/2022 19:42

Which costs does he think can be reduced in hiring a woman to risk her health for his ego?

Christonabike37 · 24/08/2022 19:43

Is he offering up his womb?

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 24/08/2022 19:43

I always fine surrogacy articles uncomfortable reading. Very rarely is there any mention of the infants needs or rights, or the surrogates.

I actually think the UK has a good position in surrogacy already.

Soubriquet · 24/08/2022 19:43

Course he does. Apart from the cost it doesn’t affect him does it?

He’s not the one who has to carry, birth and then give up an infant. Then go through postpartum

thelittleapple · 24/08/2022 19:44

How can surrogacy be accessible to everyone unless someone else’s body is accessible to everyone?

Sandcastlesinthesky · 24/08/2022 19:44

😡😡😡

Me too. Never any mention of the surrogate, how they’re doing, the effects on them. Just moaning about ‘buying a baby’ not being cheap enough, before suggesting it should be the norm for other people to go through this to provide men like him with a baby. Bleurgh 🤮

That hospital photo makes me so sad. 2 men cheering as they drag a newborn away from the only person it’s ever known 😞

I was just about to comment similar.

Baby ripped away from all they know.

I don't agree with surrogacy at all.

The many men who advocate for this don't care. They know it's never going to be them impacted after all...

5zeds · 24/08/2022 19:50

How much does it cost and how much does he think it should cost?

chillipenguin · 24/08/2022 19:51

But it is by its nature expensive. How are they hoping it will be made cheaper?

Wouldloveanother · 24/08/2022 19:51

Nothing is sacred to men like this. Everything should have a price as long as it affirms them.

His utter unawareness at the discussion of women's bodies as a mere commodity made me want to throw my phone at the wall. How fucking dare he?

5zeds · 24/08/2022 19:50

I thought I read somewhere that they can only pay expenses in the UK but that this could be up to £30k odd. Obviously could cost more if they go abroad.

chillipenguin · 24/08/2022 19:51

5zeds · 24/08/2022 19:50

How much does it cost and how much does he think it should cost?

Yes how much does he think it should cost and how does he think this should be achieved. Not enough detail. Can't just moan it should be cheaper without saying how.

TwoNightStand · 24/08/2022 19:52

So fucking entitled. And before we get comments about being homophobic, I think surrogacy is wrong in all cases, no exception. They all seem to come out with the same entitled, repulsive shit.

UnboxedThoughts · 24/08/2022 19:53

It amounts to child trafficking - and no, I'm not homophobic, I don't think anyone should do this. I am against any and all forms of surrogacy.

Yes that’s very difficult photo to look at. Poor baby with no mum.

MaChienEstUnDick · 24/08/2022 19:56

There's IVF costs involved too - depending on where you live, same sex couples don't get the same number of rounds for free as same sex parents, etc. That's what is usually meant by <ahem> fertility equality. The bit about finding the actual womb to rent isn't usually discussed at that stage.

But it's coming, of course.

Blessed be the fruit, indeed.

MaChienEstUnDick · 24/08/2022 19:56

That second same sex should of course be opposite sex. Tired.

WandaWomblesaurus · 24/08/2022 19:57

Surrogacy shouldn't be seen as a right. I can't believe how entitled and backwards this is.

Lisbeth50 · 24/08/2022 19:57

I agree: how much does he think it should cost???? I also don't understand how surrogacy could be available to everybody.

That photo is quite upsetting and offensive. A newborn who just wants her mum is being taken away. A woman who has undergone 9 months of pregnancy and has just given birth, both risky and changing her body forever is effectively tossed aside.
