Why are men so entitled?

Awww how nice that what happens to other people doesn’t bother you.

What happened to other people was they had a baby with the help of a woman and doctors who chose to do it.

I understand you're against surrogacy and thats quite alright..you're just being incredibly obnoxious towards anyone who has a different opinion to yours.
I'd hate to be that worked uo and bothered by other people personal choices/opinions.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/08/2022 20:45

When rich women do it for poor childless people, I'll believe it's a choice.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 24/08/2022 20:47

I didn’t notice that he was actively campaigning! I think Irish feminists need to pick this one up and fast

Yes he and Rosanna Davidson (Chris de Burgh Daughter).

Rosanna defending the use of surrogacy by discussing her fertility issues, funnily enough she conceived healthy twins a year later.

I know it happens though after 13 previous miscarriages I find her story hard to believe.

Even stranger Rosanna brought her surrogate to Ireland as a refugee not as a host.

The girl is so young, any money she received was lost when her local city blew up.

It's all very glamorous, if the Kardasian's use surrogates it must be fashionable.

My two kids are adopted. It breaks my heart that they had to be taken into care and then adopted, the damage from being separated from the one person that they knew/thought instinctively was supposed to look after them is palpable. And it will be a running theme throughout the rest of their lives. My little girl demonstrates so much independence, but as soon as she loves and trusts someone, she pushes them away because she never believes they will be there for her forever. Birth mum couldn’t take care of them or keep them safe so adoption was necessary. But to create a situation where a newborn is taken away from the only instinctive thing it knows, to me is monstrous - why would anyone actively create that scenario?

TwoNightStand · 24/08/2022 20:48

Lockheart · 24/08/2022 20:33

Threads about gay couples and surrogacy always make me very uncomfortable. It's hard to say what is a genuine disagreement with surrogacy and what is homophobia dressed up as genuine disagreement with surrogacy.

Theres been plenty of threads regarding straight people and surrogacy....Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Jonas brother and wife, The Baldwin’s, Naomi Campbell, all straight, all with posters being equally as repulsed by surrogacy. It’s vile.

DandyMandy · 24/08/2022 20:48

It will be Irish women he's talking about. That man is a self hater and seems to be getting worse.

calmlakes · 24/08/2022 20:48

Buy and selling newborn babies.
Lovely.

Well if he is in favor of it he is welcome to crack on and start producing babies to help out.

ParvuliThankYouDebbie · 24/08/2022 20:48

He wants to make it easier to commission and buy a baby
Yes, seemingly some people find buying a baby acceptable. I wonder if there’s an age where it becomes unacceptable for them, an 18 month old? A five year old?

Sparklingbrook · 24/08/2022 20:48

the child without a mother created so they can play at being dads

Is one of them the dad?

KentuckyDerbyandJoan · 24/08/2022 20:49

The ‘buying’ of babies is horrific on so
many levels.

Nat6999 · 24/08/2022 20:50

If a woman is willing to be a surrogate then that is up to her, there are women in this country who have had multiple babies for couples. There should be some form of regulation so that everything is above board. My ds is gay, he & his partner have discussed that in the future they want children so surrogacy may be something they investigate. At least in surrogacy the child has one biological parent, adoptive children don't have any.

Clymene · 24/08/2022 20:50

@Lockheart - I'm an equal opportunities hater of surrogacy. I don't care which sex is paying another woman to sell them her baby.

Wouldloveanother · 24/08/2022 20:50

Also has anybody noticed the demand for twins when it comes to surrogacy? Like two for the price of one? There seems to be a very high twin rate.

That hospital photo makes me so sad. 2 men cheering as they drag a newborn away from the only person it’s ever known 😞

That's exactly how I feel every time I see these photos.
That poor baby.

Wouldloveanother · 24/08/2022 20:52

So you acknowledge that depriving a baby of its biological parents is the wrong thing to do, it’s just surrogacy is slightly less wrong as it ‘only deprives then of one’?

OP posts:
TheUsualChaos · 24/08/2022 20:52

I can confidently say my views on surrogacy have absolutely nothing to do with who the intended parents/parent are. My only concern is the huge, huge potential for exploitation (which of course has been well under way for many years in several countries).

ParvuliThankYouDebbie · 24/08/2022 20:52

Lovely, and at what age do we ask the child if they are willing to be sold?

Should women be able to sell their kidneys, love of their liver, lung?

Those would actually save a life.

calmlakes · 24/08/2022 20:53

Adoption is acknowledged to cause trauma for dc, it is the least worst option available for that child.

There is no exchange of money in adoption ( in the UK) not even under the guise of expenses.

Why set out to cause trauma to child.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/08/2022 20:55

Why on earth not? Selling babies is totes awesome so why not open the flood gates?

If it wasn't obvious I was being facetious. Because we see the issue in that case but not surrogacy. Very odd.

Exactly. You wouldn't take a kitten or puppy immediately away from its Mum. But for some reason it's okay for humans to do this.
