Not often i'm speechless.

How is this buried within the news?! Should this not be headline?

It's beyond disturbing.

Those poor children

Oh my God!! That’s horrific, WTF!!

dementedpixie · 03/08/2022 15:26

I saw it shared on fb by a mutual friend but don't know why it seems hidden

CoastalWave · 03/08/2022 15:29

I've posted the BBC link which isn't as graphic as some of the other papers. It's apparently a lot worse than this.

I follow a guy called Adam_Whittington23 on instagram. His team have been reporting on it for a while now.

It's like no one wants to acknowledge this type of awful, sickening stuff is happening.

Hiding it away to try to protect the perpetrators because of their ethnicity..... oh wait....

clpsmum · 03/08/2022 15:38

Omfg I am in glasgow and this is the first of heard of it. Those poor poor children. No doubt their sentences won't be anywhere near long enough

Featuredcreature · 03/08/2022 15:38

A child was shut in a microwave and they sacrificed a budgie bizarre.

Chouetted · 03/08/2022 15:40

No-one will want another satanic panic/witch-hunt. People's imaginations get fired up and then innocent people get hurt. I know we'd all like to think we're rational people, but mass hysteria has a strange effect.

Phrenologistsfinger · 03/08/2022 15:41

Poor kids, dogs and budgie. Some people are just wicked.

They've not even been tried yet. Might want to hold back on the 'lock them up and throw it away' until they've actually been found guilty of something.

So shocking.

@Fladdermus your comment is utterly disgusting and sickening and not funny at all - hang your head in shame.

crosstalk · 03/08/2022 15:50

@Chouetted In agreement. It may be utterly foul stuff but speculation does no good. Scotland killed more witches than any other nation and has had various other witch hunts recently that were proved to be hysteria.

OP it has been headline news but with China threatening Taiwan, Ukraine war, collapse of NHS etc, it will remain local headline news (as opposed to mentions in inner pages of national newspapers} for some time.

If the people arrested are charged and come to trial well and good.

ArcticSkewer · 03/08/2022 15:52

It's probably because, as another poster says, the whole 'Satanic Panic' didn't really reflect very well on the media, social services, teachers, general public.
Lives ruined over ridiculous made up nonsense.
I can't say I didn't think the same when I skim read this case but let's wait and see.
Even being found guilty (as many were) isn't much proof it happened. There's a good BBC4 podcast about a case in the States.

So that's probably why the media are wary if covering this too much right now.

Have I missed something? What is their ethnicity?

and yes ... Scotland .... not the best reputation for this kind of thing. Many examples of mass hysteria/witch hunts both literal and figurative

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 03/08/2022 15:58

There isn't really anything to cover as yet. Some people have been charged, COPFS have decided there's a case to answer and a trial date has been set for next September. That's about it.

There's enough nonsense and hysteria in the media as it is without speculating about the particulars of an upcoming trial, never mind the potential pf making a fair trial impossible, and the persecution of people who are currently innocent and could well turn out to still be so once the trial is complete.

Given the nature of the charges I'd be surprised if there isn't some sort of media blackout on reporting the details in any case.

JustTheOneSwan · 03/08/2022 16:02

So fucked up.
Looking at the ages of the accused makes me think if this is true there will be more victims.
The list of deceased is odd too.

daretodenim · 03/08/2022 16:03

That's horrific.

Anybody in the Glasgow area called up for jury service around that time needs to organise MH support/make sure it's available, because guilty or not, the jury is going to have to listen to weeks of it.

Which is obviously better than being one of the children or animals, but still unenviable.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 03/08/2022 16:03

GCAcademic · 03/08/2022 15:52

Judging by the names in that article most definitely Caucasian. I assume the poster was preempting someone coming on saying that having not read the article.

entropynow · 03/08/2022 16:04

Because like a lot of "satanic ring" moral panics, it's probably fake. Seriously look em up
But no doubt I'll be told to "hang my head in shame" by the hard of thinking on this thread🙄

Dotjones · 03/08/2022 16:07

The SNP are trying to hush this up because it doesn't reflect well on Scotland. Scotland has a terrible history with witchcraft (the British story of witches being persecuted is above all a Scottish one, though one wouldn't think it because the SNP do a good job of hushing it up), the last one being executed as recently as 1727, long after other countries ceased the hunt.

It is shocking to hear that witchcraft is still practiced north of the border and I'm not suprised - though disappointed - that Sturgeon & co. don't want this getting out.

SouperNoodle · 03/08/2022 16:09

Jfc that's absolutely horrific. Those poor children and animals.
I hope the perpetrators rot

SNP BAAAAADDD!!!

Yep, they're 'hushing it up', that's why it's openly being reported on a global website.
