I couldn't ,wouldnt spend that amount of money on a birthday cake
And I hate Mr Bean

KylieCharlene · 25/07/2022 12:49

I love the design and have no issue with the Mr. Bean theme- I like it.

I do however have a issue with the price.
If it was her 18th then possibly but no way I'd spend that much on a cake for a five year old.

redskyatnight · 25/07/2022 12:50

Does she know who Mr Bean is or is it just the bright colours and the things on/around it she likes? If the second, I'd make/look for something non-Mr Bean themed that fits the bill.

maddy68 · 25/07/2022 12:50

Get of of a) she wants it
B) you can afford it

XelaM · 25/07/2022 12:50

Buy it! I like it 😂

LosingTheWill2022 · 25/07/2022 12:51

How much did you spend in previous years?
Is it the cost or the subject that you're struggling with?

negomi90 · 25/07/2022 12:51

Can you not order one of the cakes you get a photo put on and use a mr Bean photo? They're relatively cheap and she gets what she wants. The big supermarkets do them.

Aww, it's great. Go on get the cake! You can't impart good taste onto children

They won’t print pictures that are copyrighted or similar, it’s only personal pictures you can print. I found this out when I tried and failed to find a Rah Ray Noisy Lion cake, and they basically don’t exist and I couldn’t get one printed at the supermarket!

pastabest · 25/07/2022 12:55

My 5 year old LOVES the Mr Bean cartoon its on CITV (?) all the time so for her it would be no different to getting a paw patrol / frozen cake.

She would be thrilled with it.

The heart wants what the heart wants...

The cartoon Mr Bean for anyone who thinks the child is watching the real life Rowan Atkinson version

As opposed to a unicorn or Princess cake. I make cakes - there is a detail and work there, in case you felt cheated. I admire your niece's spirit. Get her a Mr Bean cake

I got a picture done on amazon as a icing topper, no questions about copy right

ApolloandDaphne · 25/07/2022 13:07

If you would happily pay £100 for a Frozen cake or whatever then YABU not to get her the cake she actually wants. It being green isn't an issue surely?

happyinherts · 25/07/2022 13:13

What does your sister (I presume sister being the little girl is your niece) think about this birthday request? Obviously, being 5 she has no concept of the amount of money this costs, so what does her Mum think to you spending such a large amount of money on something which will have gone in a day?

GreenManalishi · 25/07/2022 13:19

I think the only thing that's unreasonable about a green Mr Bean cake is that it's £100. Do you spend £100 on a cake for your neice usually? If so, then I'm presuming you'd be ok if it was something "girly". You're buying a cake for her not for yourself.

GroggyLegs · 25/07/2022 13:25

£12 off Etsy on top of a nice Sainsbury's party cake £6.

Expensive bespoke cakes are for landmark birthdays & christenings in our house!

IncompleteSenten · 25/07/2022 13:26

Is that what you would normally spend?

If so, get her what she wants, not what you think she should want.

If OTOH it's more than you would pay for any cake then get something within budget.

WillitFit · 25/07/2022 13:29

If I was going to spend £100 on a custom made cake I'd get the one she wants, but I wouldn't be spending £100 on a custom made cake for a 5yo.

Upontherooftops · 25/07/2022 13:30

Ordinary birthday cake from supermarket plus a figurine and car from Amazon, ebay etc. Cheaper and then she has the car and figurine to play with after the cake is eaten.

I make my own cakes for birthdays but I've given up making the figures as it's easier to buy them and the figurine/doll/whatever is kept.

ItsDangerousInKingsmarkham · 25/07/2022 13:31

What's the issue with it? That it's green? That's it's Mr Bean? Or the price?

SadFace2 · 25/07/2022 13:31

I think that's awesome! My kids would love that.

Upontherooftops · 25/07/2022 13:32

Oh and I absolutely wouldn't pay £100 for a 5 yr old's birthday cake but obviously, your money is your own business.

ItsDangerousInKingsmarkham · 25/07/2022 13:32

Agree with others - you get a Mr Bean Bendable figure that looks fun - I'd get that and put it on a normal cake with her name and age etc.
