I'm with 3 Mobile, unlimited data. Was paying £24 a month but it's just gone up to £29 a month, SIM only. I can't afford this every month, I'm going to cancel it even though I know there will be a fee attached. I'm only in the contract until September so hopefully it won't be too high.
Just interested to know what sort of prices people are paying, I'd like something with as much data as possible as I use it a lot, minutes and texts are less important.

£5 Giffgaff.

Whatshisface · 10/07/2022 07:13

£6 with Three. 12GB data, unlimited calls and texts.

LondonLovie · 10/07/2022 07:16

O2 £15.49 a month, off contract and I wouldn't sign up for another. They always push this big air time plans for unlimited everything and I don't use it. 15gb data plenty for me.

Sirzy · 10/07/2022 07:17

Tesco 15gb sim only for £11 a month but most months I have enough Tesco club card vouchers to just pay with them

Madcats · 10/07/2022 07:19

Maybe go through your old bills to see how much data you actually use. If you have wifi you surely don't need 50GB+?

DH and I each have 3GB data and unlimited texts & calls with Asda mobile (Vodaphone) for £5/month. I can use the bundle abroad and buy extra data mid month and switch bundles a month in advance (so we could buy more data if we were going on holiday, for example).

We used Three for quite a few years (coverage isn't great here). We found that they could usually get a cheaper offer if we phoned and asked to leave.

Oh wow, I pay £42 per month… think it’s time to re-evaluate!

Same here. I have loads of data that I can share with the kids though so none of us ever run out. But we pay a huge amount between us all.

DockOTheBay · 10/07/2022 07:21

£45 for me and £35 for DD but we both wanted iPhone 13’s. How do you all afford to buy new phones outright? iPhone 13’s are £850 each!
By buying a cheaper phone and keeping it for longer. If you want the most expensive phone on the market, that's your choice.

I pay £11pm for my SIM only contract and my husband's is £7pm.

I didn’t. I have an iPhone 11 was on contract but when the contract came to an end I moved to sim only. Phone is fine so no point getting a new one.

blebbleb · 10/07/2022 07:22

It's quite easy to haggle hit companies if you want to stay where you are. I pay £10 a month for 30gb with 3. I use quite a lot as WiFi can be a bit rubbish in some parts of the house.

BigYellowElephant · 10/07/2022 07:27

Oh my god I feel like a mug now! I pay £86 a month for mine and my teens phones - that includes two iPhone 12s though and 100gb data each. By the time the contracts up she will definitely be ready for another upgrade and I've got two toddlers so my phones usually full of cracks by the end of my contract and needs another one too. How are you all paying so little? Do you buy the phone outright and isn't that like £7-800?

RampantIvy · 10/07/2022 07:29

£9.13 a month with Plusnet.
I can't use GiffGaff because it is a virtual provider for O2, and the O2 signal is poor round here.

It looks like I need to reassess because I am paying more than a lot of you.

Yirk · 10/07/2022 07:32

Tesco sim only £9 monthly unlimited, 12gb

£86 sounds reasonable if handsets were included. Mine is sim only.

TigerRag · 10/07/2022 07:35

£26 with EE. But that does include a phone. Going to switch to sim only when m contract is up.

LesOliviers · 10/07/2022 07:35

£15 SIM only with Vodafone. For 6gb data and unlimited calls/texts. You can get cheaper than this though.

MoodyTwo · 10/07/2022 07:35

£8 virgin sim only
I only buy refurbished phones from Apple when my old one is knackered

mizzo · 10/07/2022 07:36

£10 a month rolling top up, the data rolls over, I've only ever used it all once when we moved and had no WiFi for a couple of weeks. I'm always get calls to sign up to a contract with unlimited data and save a pound but not really bothered.
The DC pay similar, maybe a little less for more data.

I'm not bothered about the latest handset although I do like an iPhone. I just buy whatever old model is reasonably priced.
My older kids had second hand iphones until they were 16. We bought them the latest ones outright after GCSEs, will do the same for the younger ones. I don't do contracts for children, it's not a precedent I want to set.

youwouldthink · 10/07/2022 07:38

If you're paying £29 you probably have a phone on contract with them? Once that ends you'll have paid for the phone and move to a sim only deal

mizzo · 10/07/2022 07:39

We also pay £8 a month for unlimited landline calls. I prefer it for calls if I'm in the house and DH gets terrible reception but has to use EE as it's a work phone so uses the landline when working from home.

Thursday37 · 10/07/2022 07:41

I bought my iPhone direct from apple on their 0% finance, much better than a contract to a network. Mine is paid off now though and I only replace when I need to, usually get 4 years out of a phone.

PritiPatelsMaker · 10/07/2022 07:41

Sim only with Virgin. £9 a month with 8gb.

womaninatightspot · 10/07/2022 07:46

£20 with 3 unlimited data. I got an iphone 11 with it for an upfront cost of 99 quid.

3 do a lot of sign up incentives for sim only. Six months half price and £100 cashback was one I spotted recently. Worse off over the life of the contract though.

Sirzy · 10/07/2022 08:16

With o2 (and I assume others) you can get reconditioned phones on contract which work out a lot cheaper than brand new.

curlymumof2 · 10/07/2022 08:31

I'm on 3, 30gb of data, unlimited calls and texts and pay £13 a month
