I think you should look at phones like you would buying a car.
iPhones are like the rolls Royce crossed with a Lamborghini, they get you places in style and possibly faster but they still use the same roads.
If you are a farmer a tractor might be better, sports cars are not much good for taking the kids to school.
No one actually needs an iphone.
When you take out a contract with a phone you are not getting a free handset you are paying for it, but your contract is probably 2 years and most people pay for the phone in the first year, the second year the difference between the sim only deal and your contract is pure profit.

Argos is selling the iphone 13 for £729.00, so three of those is £2187, the iphone 11 is under £429, they don't have a 12.
You are paying £86 a month = £1032, I assume your contract is 2 years so £2064 over 2 years, so buying three top of the range phones is only £123 a year more. I know you have to add on the actual cost of the contract or PAYG.
If you were to get the iphone 11 then 3 handsets are £1287, over 2 years that's £777 less, that's £32 a month you would have to play with to negotiate a contract.
If you switched to another phone, you would have even more. Argos has the latest Samsung Galaxy for £369.99 (1109.97 for 3)
But you don't have to buy three new phones every year. I've assumed it's 3 phones, if you can make your phone last 3 years, which they should last at least 5 years you could rotate buying one new handset each year.
And that's with top of the range phones, do you really need them? You can get a smart phone for £40. Your teens might complain but you could potentially pay for a holiday with the saving.
