I love listening to him! Knows his stuff, clear & concise, no 3 word slogans calls Ministers out for lying - when you know they're lying!

He's on Question time tonight- I can't wait!

Wrongkindofovercoat · 23/06/2022 21:18

“oh they shouldn’t be striking coz inflation” Yeah, but there’s always a reason not to give the workers a fair rise, isn’t there? The recession of 08/09, Cameron’s Age of Austerity, then May told us there was no magic money tree for us. Then Covid, now we can’t do it because of inflation. Funny how all this never seems to hit the rich in the pocket though. Property prices shored up and banks bailed out until the cows come home.

I would add people working full-time, yet still needing support from the state to reach an 'adequate' level of income so that private companies can accrue more profit.

I mean how absolutely fiscally bonkers is that, when you think about it properly ?

the80sweregreat · 23/06/2022 21:28

He is incredibly calm
Kay burley was getting more and more incensed and he was staying the same , I think she was trying to get an angry response and it wasn't working. At least they let him talk for a while , so he had a better time than politicians usually get , but it was still good to see someone not getting riled that easily.
They didn't know what to make of him!
Plus he mentioned that many workers rely on state benefits too ; people forget this
He knows his stuff

Wrongkindofovercoat · 23/06/2022 21:41

The DM will dig up something on him I'm sure his had a good run this week at destroying the media , but they always strike back ..let's hope there isn't too many skeletons about.

Too many skeletons ? If the current incumbent PM is anything to go by, skeletons are simply to be shrugged at, nothing to see here, deny, deny, deny, waffly apology at best, Squirrel !

Squirrel will include Churchillian 'we have to get through this ' tropes, 'we are all in this together' malarkey and a whole load of 'immigration is the route of all evil' bullshit !

Is tonight the night for the by elections ?

the80sweregreat · 23/06/2022 21:43

By elections are today
Will be interesting to see what happens

IcecreamForAlcohol · 23/06/2022 22:03

@Wrongkindofovercoat

It is bonkers and it shouldn't be happening.

Zero hours contracts too. Yes they work for some people - I had one when I was a student and it worked well because I could pick up extra hours in holidays etc. however people trying to fund a family shouldn't be forced on to them.

IcecreamForAlcohol · 23/06/2022 22:05

beachcitygirl · 23/06/2022 19:30

Fanbloodytastic ✊🏻 and my own industry have just voted by a mandate of 97.3% to strike this summer.
Workers fight back. Your time is up corrupt capitalists, fat cat bosses & tory apologists.

I really hope so.

The whole Mick Lynch thing of the past couple of days really demonstrates what a narrow range of people we see on our TVs and hear on our radios. 9 times out of 10 it's media trained, privately educated politicians and media trained privately educated pundits. It's been so refreshing to listen to someone who isn't either of these things.

Yes - I agree - he’s wonderful to watch.

FayeGovan · 23/06/2022 22:07

Hes brilliant . Totally ragdolls stupid journalists. As he should.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 23/06/2022 22:44

BBC Questiontime now on.

I couldn't even hear those first two questions from the audience.

echt · 23/06/2022 22:47

I've just watched a mash-up of his takedowns on Youtube.

What a man. I was a union member from 1973 to 2022 and swell with vicarious pride to think the movement is represented by such a plain-spoken, knowledgeable person.

Drivingbuttercup · 23/06/2022 22:49

Thr kay Burley interview was hilarious.

cushioncovers · 23/06/2022 22:52

He's a breath of fresh air. I'm thoroughly enjoying watching him out others in their place.

StoneofDestiny · 23/06/2022 22:55

Yeah but the Boomers/over 55's, as a voting/polling majority, will always go for the Daily Mail position on absolutely anything. It's uncanny on absolutely any polling issue at all

twaddle!
Many of that age group smashed the glass ceilings many younger women now benefit from. They cleared the pathways and challenged the presumptions women couldn't lead! They challenged the right to work and have children, to keep their own names on marriage and to stand in elections and win.
I've never bought the Daily Mail, paid heavy costs for 'smashing glass ceilings on the way up' and have fought long and hard in my Trade Union/Professional Body for workers rights - continuing to do so when I became 'the boss'. (the first woman to reach the top in my work)
Pretty insulting to see the unsung heroes over 55 being dismissed as taking the 'Daily Mail' position on anything.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 23/06/2022 23:00

Fiona Bruce is being weird tonight. Maybe she didn't expect the other panellists (other than the hapless Rachel McClean) to have such respect for Mick Lynch.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 23/06/2022 23:01

Rachel Maclean, sorry.

She's blinking an awful lot now. Like, Ben Swain blinking levels.

ilovesooty · 23/06/2022 23:04

There are some real tits in this studio audience. Why am I not surprised?

Rachel Maclean, sorry.

She's looking as ineffectual as she doubtless is.

ivykaty44 · 23/06/2022 23:06

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove

is it respect or fear of being shown up like everyone else, so caution?

RevoltingHumanHead · 23/06/2022 23:07

ilovesooty · 23/06/2022 23:04

There are some real tits in this studio audience. Why am I not surprised?

'twas ever thus!

ivykaty44 · 23/06/2022 23:09

The DM will dig up something on him

why, they don’t normally do any digging. They literally make it up

80% of all complaints are against the DM

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 23/06/2022 23:10

Ben Habib's a firebrand tonight

StoneofDestiny · 23/06/2022 23:13

How the hell have we got to a situation in this country when a lying, criminal, amoral, semi coherent PM is in office (partying) and we are surprised a principled, articulate trade unionist is defending workers rights?

RevoltingHumanHead · 23/06/2022 23:16

Rachel MacLean clearly does not want to be there. That's a couple of times now Fiona Bruce has had to prompt her to speak 'Rachel, you're quiet as a mouse' 'Rachel, do you want to join in?'

Weak.

jamimmi · 23/06/2022 23:17

Loving the comment from the tory (not sure of her name) about the letter garunteeing no compulsory redundancy following changes then when reading it out it quite obviously doesn't. Slightly concerned about her understanding of the English language. Wonder if she passed the GCSE. Love Mick Lynch. So calm and unflappable!
