Rachel Maclean is desperately hopeless. 'That's what I'm getting to.' 'Can I finish?' 'Can you just let me finish?' 'Our Prime Minister's leadership.'

And: I work with my local food bank.'

Do ye aye, Rachel?

RevoltingHumanHead · 23/06/2022 23:16

Rachel MacLean clearly does not want to be there. That's a couple of times now Fiona Bruce has had to prompt her to speak 'Rachel, you're quiet as a mouse' 'Rachel, do you want to join in?'

Weak.

Her claim that the government cares about public sector workers is laughable and she knows it.

Motnight · 23/06/2022 23:25

I am over 55. I have never read the Daily Mail. I have never voted Conservative. My friends are the same.

FayeGovan · 23/06/2022 23:26

Rachel mclean is utterly pathetic. All the blinking and raising eyebrows just makes her look stupid and completely out her depth.

ilovesooty · 23/06/2022 23:26

Now she's trying to justify the Rwanda policy because of the poor people at risk of dying in the Channel...

Probably because she is.

@Wrongkindofovercoat

It is bonkers and it shouldn't be happening.

Zero hours contracts too. Yes they work for some people - I had one when I was a student and it worked well because I could pick up extra hours in holidays etc. however people trying to fund a family shouldn't be forced on to them.

They are fair when they're on equal terms so that the flexibility works both ways. What often happens however is that they'll say words to the effect of "we won't guarantee you any work, but don't you dare not be available to work whenever we want you"

To be fair, I don't blame her for being terrified after how every other politician and journalist has been cut down to size in the last few days.

ilovesooty · 23/06/2022 23:35

Well Mick Lynch has certainly nailed Boris Johnson.

TambourineOfRepentance · 23/06/2022 23:35

Fiona Bruce might as well turn up in a giant blue rosette. It would at least be honest.

Octomore · 23/06/2022 23:36

Yep, he nailed Johnson in what he said. Spot on about the motivation of those the Tory MPs too, imo.

Henerlo · 23/06/2022 23:37

My God I'm glad to see this thread. This guy is incredible. His performance tonight is a masterclass. There was a palpable shift in the room when he started talking about how the wage crisis is playing out generally across the public sector and the country: I mean he timed it just right and listened respectfully to others'experience of it. Lucky rail workers having him on their side.

wonderstuff · 23/06/2022 23:39

Hes fantastic. Wish we had someone as good in teachers union.

Henerlo · 23/06/2022 23:40

Fuck me.

  • how would you get this woman's vote?
  • I wouldn't bother because I don't care.
AllyCatTown · 23/06/2022 23:41

Even if you disagree with strikes you can surely still admire him. He’s really good at showing up how terrible some so called journalists are.

ilovesooty · 23/06/2022 23:41

Henerlo · 23/06/2022 23:40

And the look on her face "How can you not be embarrassed that he's your leader?" 🙄

Oh yeah. You've had people like Amanda Martin.

Thought that was amazing. At least it was honest.

Henerlo · 23/06/2022 23:50

She was woeful.

Not as bad as the crazy face woman going on about dinosaurs but in that ball park.

Fiona Bruce is fucking annoying though. She just let that guy with the check shirt rant on and on about how the thousands of engineers, strategists, drivers, project managers, technicians etc etc who staff the rail network need to model their working practices on the approach he uses with his massive global fleet of 35 staff. I mean he sat there yelling nonsense for ages and she kept on stopping Mick from responding.

carefullycourageous · 23/06/2022 23:52

Fiona Bruce is really annoying, I find she interrupts about 20 seconds too early for all the panellists, it really pisses me off.

Doingmybest12 · 23/06/2022 23:54

Rachel McLean basically saying you win some voters , you lose some voters with a shrug of the shoulders to that woman in the audience who wasn't able to be with dying relative. Utterly shameless ,

ClaudineClare · 23/06/2022 23:54

The establishment is a bit scared of Mick, I reckon. That edition of QT was an attempt to stitch him up.

Henerlo · 23/06/2022 23:55

Didn't work though did it. He's got a deft touch.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 24/06/2022 00:00

I do find Fiona Bruce inadequate for Questiontime. Prefer it when there's a stand-in like Victoria Derbyshire.

I'd also be happy with a variety of other BBC faces chairing QT like e.g. Alex Forsyth, Jessica Parker or tbh Tomasz Schafernaker over Fiona Bruce.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 23/06/2022 23:01

Rachel Maclean, sorry.

She's blinking an awful lot now. Like, Ben Swain blinking levels.

Ben Swain! Benign tumour! Bental illness!
