GOOD the morally and financially bankrupt Tories would like to weaponise WOMAN DON'T HAVE VAGINAS whilst bankrupting the nation and looting the public coffers. Don't be distracted. Nadine Dorries ffs on LBC now - it's a WTAF - they are trolling us now and hoping to wave Union Jacks and Johnson posing with a tank in Ukraine will get them over the line. Pass the sick bag Alice....

I just came on to share the Guardian story but someone has faster fingers than me. Dom Cummings has popped up on Twitter to say it's true. Meanwhile Carrie and number 10 have denied it so it must be gospel then. The unanswered question in the Guardian is no one is saying what intervention caused the story to be pulled with such unseemly haste. It is pleasing to note that the more they try to quash it, the bigger the story is getting. Hopefully it will be aflame in time for the Thursday by elections.

Lebedev of course being a handy person to have on side for donations

Lord Lebedev is a non-party, crossbench peer and not a Tory Party donor.

Kendodd
And can you imagine if Corbyn had but a Russian donor with links to Putin in the HoL

As above - Lebedev has never been a Tory Party donor - Jeremy Corbyn had Seumas Milne of course (Labour's Executive Director of Strategy and Communications 2015 -2020) -

Not read the whole thread.
The story about Carrie Johnson disappeared from the daily Mail website very early yesterday morning.
One of Boris Johnson's sons ( Theo) was mentioned online a few weeks ago , he was doing a job as a waiter somewhere posh in London and received a bit of abuse.
His eldest daughter did a photo shoot last year for a magazine , she really resembles her dad.

Oh, Clav Daily Mail is not a reliable source from the tax-dodging non-dom 1930s fascist-loving Lord Rothermere family.

I see.
It would be correct to say Johnson pushed through Lebedev's peerage regardless of security service advice. Not that we know what that advice was because- despite requests by Parliament- it hasn't been published.

Long form article detailing their long relationship here.

Notonthestairs · 19/06/2022 21:13

And Johnson has benefitted personally from his relationship with Lebedevs.

"Johnson became so close to Lebedev that he visited the castle in Perugia every October for five successive years, from 2012 to 2016. He would sometimes even bring his wife.
All Johnson’s expenses were covered by Lebedev, including his transport to and from the airport. Twice Johnson used the chauffeur-driven vehicle of the Evening Standard’s then editor, Sarah Sands. Previously undisclosed documents show he accepted £7,150 worth of flights, cars and accommodation from Lebedev between 2013 and 2015, justifying them in hand-signed expenses returns as “networking” events."
Also handy to have a close relationship with the owner of the Evening Standard whilst running for Mayor. The paper supported his candidacy. I'm sure it was based on merit.

WorriedMutha · 19/06/2022 21:15

Please don't waste your time refuting random assertions by Clav. Is that you Nadine?
She just Googles more without engaging in any meaningful way with the thrust of the discussion. She's got form for it on the Brexit threads. It's just a derail.
The story is definitely growing legs now. The decision to pull it seems to be what's put rocket boosters under it.

Roussette · 19/06/2022 21:19

Lord Lebedev is a non-party, crossbench peer and not a Tory Party donor

Lord Lebedev of Siberia is son of a KGB Agent who MI5 and MI6 warned against appointing but he he's not a donor that we know of. Rightio

vera99 · 19/06/2022 21:34

Tortoise media started by an ex-Times editor and BBC News James Harding has done a compelling series of deep investigations into the Lebedevs. Fill yer boots at how corrupt the Tories have become.

The traitors and their enablers are really at the very heart of our government and establishment. Our leadership is rotten to the core and they profess to lead on our behalf.

newnamethanks · 19/06/2022 21:37

So just freebies for Boris and a wife instead of donations to Tory party funds? And the ear of the then owner of the soon-to-be ennobled owner of the Evening Standard? That alright then. Not a hint of corruption there. Although others beg to differ.

And did we ever see the Russia report?

Given that both the Mail and the Times printed this

The MailOnline printed it (editor Danny Groom) - "the Daily Mail was offered it, but turned it down" - according to the New European.

Notonthestairs
Why do you think The Times and the Mail aren't fans of Johnson? Daily Mail changed editors from Geordie Greig to Ted Verity last November to ensure it was more pro Johnson and I've been reading the Times for 20 years and view it as largely pro Johnson.

Journalist Simon Walters wrote the disappearing piece for the Times - Walters worked for Geordie Greig at the Mail on Sunday (a pro-remain paper in 2016) - Walters followed Greig to the Daily Mail in 2018 - (Walters announced he was leaving the Daily Mail in March this year):

Sept 2018
[Greig] has, so far, only brought three seasoned journalists with him from the Sunday sister title: his deputy, Tobyn Andreae, political editor, Simon Walters, and business editor, Ruth Sunderland.

Kendodd We did - summer 2020 - after much delay. They refused to release it before the election.and then dragged their heels afterwards by not sorting out the relevant committee. Number 10 also tried to meddle by putting in a chair of the PM's choice - Chris Grayling!

The story I was told, was that Boris went to eat there, got some stick from other diners and gave them the middle finger in response. His son left the job shortly afterwards. I can't say for certain it's true, but what a way for a PM to behave in public if it is.

Notonthestairs · 19/06/2022 21:50

I'm aware of Walter's resume.
He gave all parties concerned 48 hours to reject claims in his article and none of them did (on or off the record).
Not surprising given they haven't challenged the Ashcroft book or excerpts printed in the Mail.

So just freebies for Boris and a wife instead of donations to Tory party funds?

Keir Starmer knows all about "freebies" - he's under investigation;

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10910979/Labour-leader-Sir-Keir-Starmer-faces-parliamentary-standards-INVESTIGATION.html

Lord Lebedev of Siberia is son of a KGB Agent

That didn't seem to bother the Labour Party in 2009 - particularly Andy Burnham who was Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport at the time:

Richard Ottaway
(Croydon, South) (Con)
The Secretary of State will be aware that the Evening Standard is at the centre of London’s local news media industry. Under the circumstances, might it not be appropriate to conduct an inquiry into whether a former KGB member is a fit and proper person to own that newspaper?

Paul Flynn
(Newport, West) (Lab)
It will be an improvement!

Andy Burnham
The Evening Standard is indeed a well-loved part of London life—a view held on both sides of the House, I hasten to add—and, whatever changes are in the offing, it should maintain its character and journalistic standards on all counts. I am sure that, like me, the hon. Gentleman will accept that what matters is not an individual’s nationality but the plans that they have to uphold those standards and that character...

vera99 · 19/06/2022 22:02

My sister and her husband were at the party at the palace they were roundly booed by a big section of the crowd. Angela Rayner was right to call them scum.

Clav is a fellow traveller for the traitors it would seem. Don't be fooled by their plastic patriotism. They are guns for hire.
