Why the fuck is Boris Johnson still Prime Minister?

Fucksake. I mean seeing minister after minister wheeled out to defend the indefensible in the media rounds. Do they have no shame? Prattling on about how it was an 'essential part of leadership' to be a Toastmaster to an illegal piss-up. No, leadership was the Queen sat alone at a funeral, like so many of her subjects had to do. Not carrying on with your unprofessional boozy work culture and then have your team crow about how they 'got away with it' when they successfully didn't vomit in front of the cameras there for another press conference telling everyone how important it was to stick to the rules.

Johnson knew it wasn't right to have birthday parties when he personally wrote to a kid saying they were right to not have theirs, but then thought it was just fine to have one of his own and then announce that all rules had been followed to Parliament? (The police disagree, as does anyone who was forced to cancel their own celebrations).

Telling people that it was his duty to have a party for leaving colleagues while at the same time people couldn't be with dying family?

And now they are having the gall to say that he has accepted full responsibility? How? That sort of statement is followed by a resignation, not a 'now let's forget about it and move on'. How has he demonstrated that he has done anything apart from his utmost to weasel out of taking any sort of responsibility, to the point of asking Sue Gray to give up on her report? The report that that he told the rest of us that we had to wait months for the outcome of to find out what he already knew.

He says he wants to deliver what the British people want. Polls said yesterday that a majority want him to resign. Get the fuck on with it then.

But polls also showed that only a tiny minority of people actually believe he has the integrity to do the right thing (learned from bitter experience).

So what, the British people are stuck with this craven, corrupt liar as leader?

Well no. He could be no-confidenced by his MPs. What the fuck are they waiting for? Do they think it is to their benefit to have him shitting over public office every day? 'Oh but they can't think of anyone better'. What exactly does that say about the state of the Tory party if that's true?

Cannot stand seeing his face, hearing his pathetic lies, seeing his shitty schtick any more. JUST FUCK OFF BORIS.

He is a disgusting excuse for a human being. He makes me sick. He's the first person I've actually thought 'I hate him'.

This.

emmylousings · 26/05/2022 17:30

My 10 year old was just asking me the same after watching Newsround. They have an good replacement waiting in the wings (Jeremy Hunt), who wants badly, but they can't have him coz he's a remainer!!

L1ttledrummergirl · 26/05/2022 17:30

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/05/2022 17:20

Oh, but he has to do important war things. We couldn't possibly change PMs while that's going on.

I'm not sure what war we are in. It's just another convenient excuse. Someone who uses the death and attempted annihilation of a population to justify hanging on to an office he's blatantly not fit for is lower than low.
We may be offering a huge amount of support and help to Ukraine- which is something he's actually doing right- but we are not at war.
I'm pretty sure that those keeping the help moving could do this with someone else in charge

newnamethanks · 26/05/2022 17:31

Thanks giraffe I've passed through fury to snivelling despair which is what they're relying on so thanks for expressing how so many people feel. I think he could dine on a dish of live kittens in full public view and still remain there. Just desperate.

megletthesecond · 26/05/2022 17:31

Because people are ignorant.
Because he speaks some latin so he must be intelligent.......

CraftyGin · 26/05/2022 17:33

Yawn

StoneofDestiny · 26/05/2022 17:34

Latine quoque loquor et Johnson ineptum est ut Primus Minister sit

ilovesooty · 26/05/2022 17:35

I'm not wildly fond of Hunt but this wouldn't have happened if he'd been PM. He wouldn't have appointed a thick, servile Cabinet either.

Never mind. Good old funny Boris got Brexit done and he knows what a woman is.

ilovesooty · 26/05/2022 17:36

CraftyGin · 26/05/2022 17:33

Yawn

What stunningly profound input. You're happy to have a PM who lies to Parliament then?

AppleandRhubarbTart · 26/05/2022 17:39

Because the only people who can currently remove him are his fellow Tory MPs, and enough of them don't think there's anyone better available to take over. Thus they are disinclined to rock the boat. Tory leaders aren't usually afforded such grace when there's someone suitable waiting in the wings. Honestly, if they did have someone they thought was a legit candidate he would be out on his arse.

I agree. And Johnson has ensured that any opposition has been removed.

noblegiraffe · 26/05/2022 17:43

A tub of lard would do a better job than Johnson and be less embarrassing on the world stage.

If I couldn't think of anyone better in my party to lead than him, I'd quit the party. What a shit party.

I think he’s being kept on as the fall guy when they (Tories) have to make a huge sacrificial display to stay in power.

Sadly, I fear you're right. And it will be a strategy that works.

briancormorant · 26/05/2022 17:45

Be careful what you wish for.

Who wants to change now?
Who will accept him to stay and not lead Tories into next Gen Elec?

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 26/05/2022 17:46

Because 50% of a population are below average intelligence. In parliament it seems that they all sit on the tory backbenches.

Twinsarehardwork · 26/05/2022 17:46

How depressing that there is no-one suitable to replace him. What about that MP who challenged his fellow MPs the other day?

AppleandRhubarbTart · 26/05/2022 17:48

I don't know that there's nobody suitable per se. But there's nobody that the parliamentary Conservative party thinks would be.

Antarcticant · 26/05/2022 17:50

It frankly beggars belief, OP.

Those pictures of him waving his wine glass about - words fail. While they were partying, my elderly mum was stuck in hospital unable to have any visitors - others suffered the tragedy of being unable to be by their loved ones' sides as they were dying - children were growing up in isolation from friends and family - people were getting fined for daring to sit on a park bench - I could go on but it's too depressing.

TenRedThings · 26/05/2022 17:51

His bumbling disastrous parliament is the perfect smokescreen for the libertarian, dog eat dog, cash grab ideology that's being implemented behind the scenes.

noblegiraffe · 26/05/2022 17:51

How can the Conservative party not see that it is damaging to the party to keep him?

How can Tory MPs not see that it's making them look bad every time they trot out to say some more shit to cover up his mess?

How can they bear to have to do stupid stuff like vote against a windfall tax one week, then cheer it on the next?

Have they literally no shame?

fishingpaintings · 26/05/2022 17:53

Not a clue. I couldn't believe that the BBC fell for their agenda and immediately removed BoJo's lack of morality from prime position and replaced with 'wonder boy Rishi saves the day'.

Never was there a more blatant bit of smoke and mirrors. And we're all clapping like seals about our £400 or whatever.

Fucking Boris.

I'm still mad.

I don't know. I think the really stupid ones are in the cabinet.

AppleandRhubarbTart · 26/05/2022 17:59

How can the Conservative party not see that it is damaging to the party to keep him?

It's because they know they owe him their last majority. For all that he's very unpopular with a lot of the population, the people who like him are disproportionately those whose votes actually matter under our electoral system. That plus the lack of an obvious replacement is making them afraid to look elsewhere.

orwellwasright · 26/05/2022 17:59

I asked some friends a while ago what it was about him that appealed. They said it was his 'lovely bumbling persona and his funny hair'.
