It is literally a lifeline for them as the weather gets warmer.

My mum found a little hedgehog in her garden today. It was pure chance that she happened to be out there at the right time. She was told by the rescue it was only 4 weeks old and if it survives, they’ll return it to her garden in the spring.

My Tesco seed has been going down well with the birds. I’ve thrown some apples onto the garden and the blackbirds have been tucking into them. We have a little Christmas card robin too. Grated cheese is a good idea.

Those hedgehog socks are cool.

Oh Eckno fingers crossed it's ok. Thank goodness your mum spotted it, poor little thing 😢

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and your hedgehogs are all cosied up hibernating now 🦔 😴

Eckno · 30/12/2022 09:28

@Wheelyweddingwipedout This looks great, thank you.

Thank you@RichardOsmansXRaySpecs I hope you had a nice Christmas too.
Our hedgehogs are mostly tucked up, but the bowl of food was cleared earlier this week so I’m trying to remember to check it daily.

Happy New Year everyone!

I have a suggestion and would love your thoughts. This thread doesn’t get into active or trending anymore due to the mumsnet change. Any thread over 3G days old is excluded - it was part of the strategy to address the large number of zombie threads last year. My suggestion is that we take it in turns to start a hedgehog and other wildlife thread every month? Why do you think?

Great idea - I sometimes have a random question that Google can't answer and its not always worth starting a whole new thread about it.

Good idea and I’m sure @Pricklesinperil will approve 🙂
