To think no one has ever actually sold anything on Vinted

Literally everything I have put on there never sells. Dozens of favourites, I message and say 'would you like it?' Nothing!

While I'm at it, has anyone ever ironed anything before putting it on Vinted?

I’ve sold lots of kids clothes but usually for fairly low prices. Never iron things before putting up a picture but if it’s really bad i would / iron before sending

StressyMcStressFace · 21/05/2022 17:47

Washed, ironed and put on at 2 or 3 quid with lots of description and photos and still not a bite. Biggest waste of time ever!

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 21/05/2022 17:47

I’ve been selling loads! Are your pricing your items to sell?

i iron items that are higher value/better quality that I hope to sell for a higher price. e.g. a linen dress from a good brand.

Badgirlgonegood · 21/05/2022 17:47

I’ve sold loads of baby clothes and a few maternity bits/ clothes with tags.

I would iron if it looks awful, it helps to sell.

Can you give us your Vinted name so we can give you feedback on your items?

Sofasogood1 · 21/05/2022 17:48

I've sold just over a dozen things and made about £160! Are you pricing things too expensive? I've sold some stuff very cheap but don't care as it would be going in textile recycling otherwise!

Chilledchablis1 · 21/05/2022 17:48

I have sold lots of clothes . Recently dropped a dress size so had lots to sell . Made about £80

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 21/05/2022 17:48

I also make sure they are clean and not needing ironing when I post.

CandyApplePie · 21/05/2022 17:49

Oh god don’t message people that like it, I’ve liked a few things to see if they will drop the price but it’s so annoying when they message me asking if I want it one asked me to buy it now if I want it as they was going to the PO tomorrow I thought that was very rude now I won’t buy it

I'm pricing in the middle of their suggested range. DS had several barely worn Polo Ralph Lauren shirts, put them on at £3 each. Not a sniff.

I've only just started.
3 pairs kids shoes and a microscope gone.
Better than throwing them out. I'm not in any hurry so I don't interact until someone offers a price. Not bothered about favourites.
I'm not in it to make a fortune, I'm giving DS the money for his toys.

DollyPartonsBeard · 21/05/2022 17:51

I've sold lots on there. I iron everything before taking photos against the same wall (I like my pics to look consistent lol) and write a full description with measurements, fabric content etc.

I usually price things a couple of quid more than necessary (basically the equivalent of shipping cost) and when someone favourites the item I then offer the price minus approx shipping. Seems to work!

I also try to thank purchasers and keep them informed of shipping times etc, and thus far have 5* feedback.

HeadFairy · 21/05/2022 17:52

Very impressed at those who've made loads. Did you basically sell loads but at rock bottom prices?

Sumtimesiamgreen · 21/05/2022 17:52

I sold one thing it took ages. Purchased one thing it was awful. Really worn and fit for the rag bag. Never again. I think excellent designer branded stuff will sell if cheap. Otherwise seem like a waste time.

PuppyMonkey · 21/05/2022 17:53

I’ve not sold but I’ve bought a few things on it. So somebody has sold to me! Grin

RebeccaCloud9 · 21/05/2022 17:56

I've sold quite a lot, from £5-£30. Just a few normal pictures, showing all details. Some have taken a while to sell but the listings are just up and they go in the end! I never iron anything. Most things I've sold have been BNWT but some used.

Zippidy123 · 21/05/2022 17:56

I love vinted for buying. I've had some absolute bargains, it's definitely a buyers site. I've sold a few things too. My top tip if something hasn't sold for a while is to delete the item and list it again, it'll bump back up to the top when people scroll.

Latenightthoughts111 · 21/05/2022 17:57

I’ve sold
for about two and half years and made over 500 mostly
maternity and baby clothes. I’ve found it’s definitely tailed off lately and people are expecting stuff for £1 and 50p postage! But I’m still going and love it! I use a lot of tags in my posts to get in searches, are you using that?

saraclara · 21/05/2022 17:58

I've put half a dozen things on, and sold two.

While I'm at it, has anyone ever ironed anything before putting it on Vinted?

Ha! I'm amazed at the state of the stuff in most photos, and can't imagine why people don't just quickly run an iron over it. I'm not remotely tempted to buy something that looks like it's been screwed up in the bottom of a washing basket for five years.
I ironed my stuff and hung it over a white door, making it look as attractive as possible.

riotlady · 21/05/2022 18:01

I’ve just sold a few dresses, £5-9 each, didn’t iron them but they had been hanging in my wardrobe so in a reasonable state!

I don’t really sell kids clothes unless they’re brands I know people really like- Boden, Frugi, Jojo Maman etc

Oh God, right. Definitely won't do that again Confused

Do you mean tags as in colour, brand, clothing type etc? I have done all the ones they offer. Are there others I should do?

longtompot · 21/05/2022 18:11

I've bought about 10 items in the last month and some items I've favourited have been bought before I could buy them, so someone is selling their things

longtompot · 21/05/2022 18:14

I've not been messaged but someone did change the item name to "so many watchers who will be the lucky one?"

Tanfastic · 21/05/2022 18:15

I sold a handbag for £75. It was on there for about a year though 😂

fyn · 21/05/2022 18:15

I only usually buy things if they have bundle discounts, even though the pricing is low once you’ve added on fees and postage it racks up the cost of an item. With the bundle discount I can justify the postage and fees.
