To think no one has ever actually sold anything on Vinted

Literally everything I have put on there never sells. Dozens of favourites, I message and say 'would you like it?' Nothing!

While I'm at it, has anyone ever ironed anything before putting it on Vinted?

I make about £100 a month. Mixture of mine and DC clothes, I find adult clothing doesn't sell well unless it's designer and cheap or new with tags!
DC clothes fly to the post office. Normally do them cheap and some designer clothes. I have bundle discounts on and regularly upload. Regular uploads at 7/8pm works best as new uploads bump you up to the top of searches and 7/8pm sees more people active.

Scienceseeker · 21/05/2022 18:18

Things do sell, but at low prices. I mainly sell the kids clothes. Dressing up clothes sell really well, as long as you’ll accept a low price.

I have sold brand new kids cardigans we never used that were around £12 for about £3. But have made lots of little sales, it all adds up. ☺️

fyn · 21/05/2022 18:18

I also only buy brands like Boden, White Company and JoJo, not supermarket or lower cost high street brands. I can get the supermarket stuff for free at our local clothes exchange.

lancsgirl85 · 21/05/2022 18:19

Yes YABU. I've sold loads of stuff on Vinted.

Ohwowhoho · 21/05/2022 18:20

Instead of being £3 plus postage the buyer also has to pay the Vinted fee instead of the seller so you need to take that into consideration. I do buy on there but I prefer Depop as it’s easier to navigate, so maybe try there.

As someone who buys second hand online quite a lot I like to see a good description, more than one photo and preferably a photo of the item on instead of just laid flat.

ballsdeep · 21/05/2022 18:24

Ive sold loads BUT you need to put low prices.
I sold loads of baby jojo, boden and joules clothes on there for around £2.00 a dress. I just wanted it gone tbh and I find it so much easier than ebay!!!

I've bought about 10 items in the last month and some items I've favourited have been bought before I could buy them, so someone is selling their things

Yeah that’s great but I put things like #toddler #nurserywear #bnwt etc really
obscure things that sometimes people search for! #peterpancollar etc

Gunpowder · 21/05/2022 18:29

If you can bear to, I would hang on to noughties stuff and sell it to all the gen z kids in a couple of years. They are all spending a fortune on 90s and Y2K stuff at the moment, so I think the peak 00s revival will come soon and you can charge higher prices.

TwilightSkies · 21/05/2022 18:31

Yes iron the stuff!
I wouldn’t buy anything that was wrinkly. I scroll past if the house looks like a dump, clutter, stained carpet etc. I was even put off by someone’s bare feet in the photo, big long toenails 😂
Make your items look as attractive as possible.

Clear photos from different angles. It amazes me how many crap blurry photos are on the site.

And as a PP said, I like to see the item on the person to get an idea of the shape, how it hangs etc.

Ive bought loads since discovering it about 4 weeks ago so people are definitely selling things.

Hawaymanyoushite · 21/05/2022 18:32

I have just started to sell on there and most of my items have sold. Just dresses that don’t fit etc,
priced at a reasonable rate, feels far better than sending them to clothes bank and it means I can buy a few things from there too.

sayanythingelse · 21/05/2022 18:33

I've bought and sold loads on Vinted.

How are you posting items? The beauty of Vinted is that it's dirt cheap. You can buy an item for hardly anything and pick it up from your local Parcelshop for £1.69. I won't buy anything that's Royal Mail only as postage is much more expensive. That being said, I don't find kids clothes sell very well on there personally.

AnyFucker · 21/05/2022 18:35

Timely thread 😃

I'm pricing in the middle of their suggested range. DS had several barely worn Polo Ralph Lauren shirts, put them on at £3 each. Not a sniff.

I'm surprised as Ds buys loads of Ralph Lauren clothes from Vinted.

Zippidy123 · 21/05/2022 18:41

Latenightthoughts how do you use hash tags? Where do you put them?

Paq · 21/05/2022 18:45

How is vinted compared to eBay and/or Facebook marketplace? When I look on vinted (mainly for clothes) everything looks so overpriced.

Quizzed · 21/05/2022 18:50

I've bought loads of things on vinted at good prices. Some stuff is over priced especially when you add on delivery. I tend to also favourite quite a few things but not buy them all straight away. If people aren't favouriting your items then I would say you are pricing them too high or your photos aren't great. I've seen quite a few things we're sellers don't take clear photos and just put the one photo up.

SunflowerSmith · 21/05/2022 18:53

I've bought a few things from there, as a buyer I like more than one photo, with good lighting and a decent honest description.

Also, I don't mind if the buyer contacts me offering a lower price and I've bought a few bits that way.

Don't price too high as buyers have to factor in the postage and protection fee.

Thehop · 21/05/2022 18:55

I’ve sold loads on Vinted

I iron everything before I photograph

i never ever buy when sellers message harassing me for favouriting things it drives me INSANE

Latenightthoughts111 · 21/05/2022 18:58

Zippidy123 · 21/05/2022 18:41

Latenightthoughts how do you use hash tags? Where do you put them?

underneath the description so I’d put:

new Ralph Lauren dress age 1-2 years

smoke and pet free home

offers welcome

#ralphlauren #new #dress #smokeandpetfreehome #nurserywear #summerdress #summer

etc

hope that helps some people!

Livpool · 21/05/2022 18:59

I have bought quite a few things so someone is selling!

MenaiMna · 21/05/2022 19:00

I'm a low key buyer and seller. I usually describe very thoroughly with as many clear pictures near to a measuring tape as possible. My stuff sells quickly. As a buyer I have no patience for people who can't be arsed to write something as simple in the description as fabric content or condition. A single picture of an unironed piece of crap with the description "wore it once" doesn't deserve a sale. Also quite angry when I find a perfect item, pay for it and the seller doesn't bother sending it - I get an automatic refund but I wanted the item!
Generally Vinted help are quite responsive.

Binsk · 21/05/2022 19:01

I've sold a lot of stuff on Vinted. It really varies as well, the items I've sold within hours to a couple of days of being listed include a well-worn pair of popular but not premium brand joggers for a couple of pounds, expensive brand but fairly well worn shoes for 3 figures, same for a brand new, still tagged pair of Ralph Lauren jeans, but also an H&M t-shirt for £1... It's very random! Must depend on who's on when your items are at the top of the newly listed section for certain brands.
I also seem to sell in flurries - it'll be quiet for a few days, then over the next few I'll get a lot of favourites and a few sales, until the next quiet spell.

LisaSimpson77 · 21/05/2022 19:02

I put six outfits on and they all sold within a few hours.
I did put them on at the price Vinted recommended though, which is quite cheap.
People are looking for a bargain.

20viona · 21/05/2022 19:03

In the last two months Iv probably sold 15 items. I'm happy!

JennyForeigner · 21/05/2022 19:04

Oh wow, surprised by this. I buy all my clothes on Vinted these days. So much better than eBay.

If you've got some work gear, I'll probably be along in a minute 😄
